Elite Dangerous is $2.50 right now for both the base game and the Odyssey expansion. Probably the cheapest it's ever been and it's worth it

time to necro the thread.
have any of you retards been playing this as of late? if so, whats your thoughts on the new stuff being tossed in
Necro-away. Glad to see a thread here. I completely love ED though havent played much in a few months as I get overwhelmed what i should do. Then i get the bug, but spend time trying to remember what my HOTAS keybinds are after getting security killed in a station because i engage boost but realize too late that my pitch/roll axes are backwards from what i remember...so i take another hour remapping everything because of my idiocy and then my wife calls me to dinner.

I guess the new meta is player developed/colonizing star systems. Seems expensive and time consuming.

I want to be good at the spacelegs shit from Odyssey expansion but fuck if i always fuck up. The idea is so clever imo...from ship to shore you can do all this other stuff but I cant get the "go to this station and kill this pleb" shit done without fucking up entitely.

Seriously love it but it is overwhelming. I have about 700h over 5ish years in it.

It is, but it tickles the happy part if my brain cause I'm developing something that feels impactful to the game, even if it's smaller than a grain of sand. Plus nice to have a home system you can passively generate income with.

Great to hear. I don't know anyone else playing to ask but may give it a shot. I wouldn't mind being a landlord (galaxylord?) and always nice to have passive income!

Any videos or websites that you can suggest which give decent guidance on jow to start?

Id recommend starting out with a outpost as your first star port since it's the easiest thing to build, you can build a oculus later on to have a proper home port.

Here's a good Google doc guide on colonization

My first colony brings in a little over 300k and my second brings in 80k so around 400k a week. Both of them aren't fully developed so I still have alot of potential credits on the table.

Plus every time you bring in resources to build a structure, you actually make a profit soo building a colony is really worth it for making easy money. And each colony costs 25 million to start construction.
