He had the courage to make his traumatic experiences known to the world so soon after the Holocaust. For this, I would consider him a really courageous man. Rest in peace, Mr. Wiesel.

When I read about this, my heart dropped. I read Night in my freshman year of high school and it's stuck with me ever since. It must have taken a lot of courage and determination to write about such horrific experiences, but he did and the world is better for it.

I guess the one silver lining in all this is that he died safe, successful, and loved rather than in pain and terror like he would have had he not made it out of the concentration camp.

Islamists and psuedo-progressives on Twitter are classing it up, I see.

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT PALESTINE IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS.

He also made news a few years ago as one of the victims of infamous ponzi-schemer Bernie Madoff. RIP

I'm honestly surprised my /pol/tard neighbor hasn't called me up about an impromptu party.

We finally found something the far left and far right can agree on! The farleft is going about how other atrocities matter more and that Weisel was racist because he's a Jew, while the farright is going on that Wiesel is part of the grand conspiracy to fabricate the Holocaust and paint the innocent Nazis as bad people!

Maybe we should give people one of those XY Graph political tests when they sign up for an ISP, and if they are too far from center they get a China Firewall put on their IP.

Obviously he knew that the Internet Supervillain @Null was onto the Holohoax, and killed himself to protect his Jew secrets.

Lol and you think Joshua (Yehoshua) "Amber (Am Ber, 'an open field people', Jews roaming in exile)" Moon (location of headquarters of the Elders) is NOT part of the conspiracy? Lmfao fucking CUCK

Such foul tweets for a man who was once described as the "conscience of the world".

Wisel's writings on Night and other matters have always been fascinating, for a man to have gone from nothing to horror to such a high position and to have truly earnt his Nobel Prize (other nominees really haven't) is amazing in and of itself.

I wonder how many of them would dare say something like that in public in front of a crowd of people they don't know. The internet affords a lot of anonymity even if you put your face and name next to your twitter.

It's quite another thing to pipe up and start insulting freaking Eli Wiesel in front of a crowd of strangers.

Talking about the leftists of course, no doubt the Muslims would be fine with it

Thing is, among the intelligentsia it has become trendy to say contrarian things. It doesn't matter that they were saying it from an actual attempt at a thought out position in times past and that they were, as such, limited in their statements and how they could appeal to the masses.

A lot of folks these days want to be neo-bohemians without understanding what the Bohemians actually were. Largely a bunch of spoilt rich kids that could afford to sit around screwing each other and pontificating long enough for their more "out there" ideas to be whittled down to a sensible core that could be published in a way wider society could accept.

These days most of them seem to shriek this idiocy precisely because they're not thinking it through and have that whole issue of instant gratification of Twitter.

To show how little they don't think ten seconds in google reveals Wisel's own criticism of Jerusalem was being treated actually did exist. It might be a position they don't like, but asking to depoliticize the city is a huge thing to say; Especially as it has been so ruthlessly politicized by all sides.

However, he didn't criticise Israel much because of his own experiences and position. He is very much of the pre-war generation and more in line with men like Ben Gurion and Sharon, people who survived the Holocaust only to be thrown into several wars of survival.
