I think it's high time we create a separate thread just to throw in the unrelenting wave of articles, pushing for people to eat the bugs.

In the last few couple months, we've had articles like these:

You WILL eat ze bugs, goy.

It's actually a bit funny the whole thing. We already have "disgusting" things in our foods already. Chicken nuggets? Pink goo. Sausages, intensive as the skin.

And lol, of course you grind up the worms into patty or some shit. People won't want to eat a steak in a slaughterhouse either.

So basically a thread where you do nothing but get angry over toothless opinion articles and companies doing experimental products that nobody is forced to try nor eat and inevitably end when nobody likes them.

I'm literally the pickiest eater on the planet and one of the few things I can eat is normal ass meat. If the day comes where I can't eat normal meat then I'm gonna hurt somebody

People usually say bug eating is for the non-elites but it looks to me more like something to sucker in the middle and upper class who will gladly feast on worms to feel superior to the uneducated simpletons who eat fried chicken and steaks. Basically trying to get a hold of the rich clientle who wouldn't go all the way to be vegan.

nobody is forced to try
ok free market theist. There exists a strong possibility that at some point an ever tightening carbon taxation is going to be imposed universally, including the foodstuff. There is no reason why the same forces that are making ICE cars economically unfeasible, can't affect other industries. This is the very reasoning why Thunsperg was being memed with eat the bugs. Whatever you might think, this is forcing.

Nevermind, I could be late with my above statement. Very late.

Aside from that, I found an example product from Hungary. So, not exclusive to the sugar-and-rainbows West.

They can't even pass a voting act that would benefit themselves and you're scared of a carbon tax being forced through that will also be eternally tightened.

Just here to repeat my opinion that an increase in bug protein is a great idea to use for animal feed, especially fish farms. The food chain just needs one link of lengthening and insect protein becomes very enticing to humans in the form of delicious salmon, perch, tilapia, or trout.

The problem is "inevitably end" they seem to be pushing it more as they shift to make climate change the big problem after COVID. Though no one's going to give up meat without the government intervening. Tell me when some legislation is on the table that threatens the meat industry.

I don't think any hungarians would use it to replace meat. It would be more of a "dare" food like when I mixed habaneros and moonshine and dared people to drink it.

The description says, do not eat if you got a dust mite allergy. So one of the most prevalent ones, lol.

Eh, the older generation would indeed probably not. They are fine with bacon and pork sausage and all the rest.
But the present day youth? I can perfectly see them replacing meat with this stuff in some years in the future, especially if food prices will be adjusted in a way so that the bug stuff is favored by the System and cheaper than actual meat. With commodity prices going up, it's very much a possibility.
