I'm guessing your best indicator on whether or not you will enjoy Metroid Dread is on how you liked Metroid: Samus Returns. It's made by the same developer and retains that game's new features (free aiming, timed counterattacks). The reaction to that game is generally positive, though muddied by people who were upset that AM2R got a cease and desist.

If you haven't played Samus Returns, I think this game will be closer to something you like than to Other M.
