My God, that Stadia presentation was so awful it legitimately reverse sold me on the service (my computer sucks and I don't care for online multiplayer so I can deal with a little lag.) I mean they have NOTHING. Their pre-order bonuses are Destiny 2, which is not interesting at all, and a differently colored controller, which is also not interesting at all. And the only other games are a non-gameplay trailer for a remake of a twenty year old game and Ubisoft stuff, which we already knew was coming.

I didn't quite catch the end of that presentation. Did they announce a launch date for the service yet?

9.99 a month for their Pro subcription, I wonder if I can make google lose money by simply running a game 24/7. The electricity alone should be pretty expensive.

Being shared hardware you could maybe run the most demanding game and take up as much of those shared resources as possible(and burning electricity) 24/7.
The maximum utilization by one titles seems to be something like a Vega 56, some cores of a threadripper or manycore Zen2 maybe, all in what might be a Hades Canyon-like setup for rack servers. If running a less intensive game I expect the GPU resources to be shared with different games, there's some neat virtualization in that area.

Taking advantage of that and running something intensive at 4k 24/7 it just wouldn't be possible for google to recoup their cost without running accounting magic and avoiding taxes, of course. Maybe we are just cheating ourselves?

Maybe they will have a thing like GeForce Now that boots people every 3 hours and forces them to log in again?

This type of service has made me scratch my head for a while, it sort of makes sense for Nvidia that will always be sitting on a big pile of GPU's that might have been high end last year that they can either trash or tank the their own market with by selling them for low prices.

THQ announced a Destroy All Humans Remake. We've known about a new destroy all humans for a bit but this is the first time it's been shown as a remake, but how much is unclear. whether this is just a fresh coat of paint or if they're going to update the gameplay a bit is up in the air and the trailer doesn't really reveal anything other than the look. It's unclear if this is the third game THQ had hinted at before E3 proper since despite the video being out the twitter hasn't acknowledged it.

Playtonic also revealed their new game. It's 2d Yooka Laylee. It looks super weird, more like a bizarre mod than a new game. I don't really know what to make of it, and I kind of liked yooka laylee. Considering the game was explicitly made to be a return to 3d collect a thons it feels so weird for them to step back and make a donkey kong country clone.

So E3 starts tomorrow with MS' show (for me at least). We doing another thing or what?

That kinda gives me Lawbreakers vibes, there's an incredible try-hardiness at play here that's honestly unmistakeable.
I couldn't agree more. It's hard to watch a trailer like that and not cringe.

I can easily imagine the board room with a spectrum of people. A clueless business man in a suit. A pink haired male feminist with a "as me about my feminist agenda" t-shirt, and a man in silicon valley style blazer and jeans. On a whiteboard they have images of Overwatch and Apex Legends, a question mark, and then a dollar sign. I don't know which is worse. The game being a cynical and soulless copy of Overwatch, or this being their best effort and they genuinely believe that this is cool, original, and appeals to kids in 2019.

Absolutely awful character designs. Especially the dangerhair landwhale.

Well, it's Ninja Theory. I will give them credit for where credit is due: they know how to make excellent games when it comes to story. However this being a hero shooter, you can throw story out the window.

Also, this is the same studio who gave us Emo Dante, so don't expect miracles when it comes to character design.

It feels especially weird that Ninja Theory is doing a 4vs4 game like this though since that's not in their wheelhouse at all...

So E3 starts tomorrow with MS' show (for me at least). We doing another thing or what?

Dunno. The KFMN room is booked up on Sunday. In previous years I kind of commandeered the whole E3 proceedings, but this year I'm thinking I'm just going to sit back and leave the mob to its own machinations. I will however provide stream links in this thread for those, y'know, unable to be a 15 second search on Youtube.

Anyway, today the only show is EA Play. So expect your usual Maddens and Fifas.

I swung over to EA's YT channel today - fun fact, in the last year they've uploaded only one video, otherwise the most "recent" videos are from E3 2018.

Speaking of which, did anything ever come out of this game?

Double Post time. Shame Shame Shame....

As previously mentioned, today is EA's Play livestream - they're not doing a conference like in previous years. So, no cringe inducing mascots or head to head mobile game action, I'm afraid. Here is their schedule:

Time (PST / EST)Featured Game
9:30AM / 12:30PMStars Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
10:00AM / 1:00PMApex Legends
10:30AM / 1:30PMBattlefield V
11:00AM / 2:00PMEA Sports - FIFA
11:30AM / 2:30PMEA Sports - Madden NFL
12:00PM / 3:00PMThe Sims 4

As for streams... pick your poison from what is available:

Direct from the horse's ass
Gamespot
IGN
TheGamingRevolution (I have no idea who these people are)

I'm sure there will be other degenerates that will be adding their own voiceovers over the shows before too long.

Stars Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
That one is probably gonna be good, at least I hope so, because as shitty as EA is, they actually have a strong set of IPs, and seeing good sales from Single-player titles could convince them to give those IPs a new go.

If Fallen Order turns out well, it could probably be the 1st EA product I buy since the 1st Dead Space.

if any of you nerdlingers want someone to talk to during the shows, me and @Aquinas have a discord server and will probably be in voice chat for most of them

Speaking of which, did anything ever come out of this game?
That game actually got a release date of July 5th a few weeks ago. I looked it up out of curiosity because I liked the look of it and because their last supported indie game A Way Out, was actually pretty enjoyable

Playtonic also revealed their new game. It's 2d Yooka Laylee. It looks super weird, more like a bizarre mod than a new game. I don't really know what to make of it, and I kind of liked yooka laylee. The game had it's faults but I can't blame them for trying to bring back 3D platformers at the time. Rather they try and work out some of the problems of the first game like the controls than go in a new direction like this.

The EA show is like watching a really old and sick dog suffering on the floor waiting for someone to end it's life
