This is the second modern FROM game I haven't been excited about (Nightreign 1st). I guess success breeds complacency? I'm not sure how to feel about it. I'm glad FROM is getting more work to expand and pay the bills but they should really focus on reviving their older titles to diversify their portfolio instead of just MOAR SOULSSLOP. Elden Ring should've been the last hurrah for their take on the genre, at least for a while. They're gonna go the way of Actiblizz if they keep this up.

God of War: dead
Call of Duty: dead
Assassins Creed: dead
Dead Space: literally dead
Pokemon: dead
Silent Hill: dead
Bioshock: dead
Monster Hunter: dead
Fromsoftware: dead
Literally every franchise you know and love: DEAD, RAPED, BURIED, AND PISSED ON

I HATE EVERYTHING MODERN!

Shame that they used their weirder art assets for shovelware. Thought it was a Yoko Taro game for a second. Not even worth emulating even if they get servers set up for it like DeS on RPCS3.

Edit: seeing PvP Youtubers seething about the PvP focused Fromsoftware game they wanted being Switch 2 exclusive will be funny.

Soon as it said online-only I lost interest. We really can't have anything nice, can we.

Is it just me or does Bloodborne, a game from 2015, have better graphics? I haven't paid attention to the Switch 2 at all but can it really not match the graphical fidelity of an 11 year old console?
Bloodborne is helped a lot by the fact the game is dark as fuck and being covered in blood can hide a lot of details. This game seems a lot brighter and is running on something that's only up to PS4 specs (supposedly).

I'm just so tired of the Souls formula at this point, one run of Elden Ring was enough for me, I don't know how people can stomach that slop for multiple playthroughs, and its DLC.

Agreeing with @Core Theorist, this is the second time I've immediately been on the "No Thanks" side of a FromSoft announcement.

I'm also now looking at it as "Nightreign is an accident, Dusk Blood is a coincidence," but if a third FS game comes out that looks like it's simply a way to attract the online gaming masses, I'm calling that a pattern and will probably ignore anything else FromSoft comes up with until I hear about a follow up to Sekiro's story

I can't be too mad at From. They're basically a golden goose being forced to lay eggs at gunpoint.

EDIT: Okay, maybe not forced, but you can't deny that it must be hard as fuck for them to pitch anything to a publisher that isn't a Souls clone.

When I saw gameplay of Nightreign I figured it was just From striking out, trying something new for a change. The coop is important to a lot of players after all, why not make a DLC centered around it as an experiment? But then, this... naw, dawg. Dawg, naw.

Rich Evan's immortal words echo in my mind. "How does it feel to live long enough to see all your favourite franchies go down in flames?"
