One of these dipshits called my phone claiming to be an Agent of the FBI investigating me for “unpaid taxes”.
Sad that most people don't realize that unpaid tax bills are generally civil matters meaning nobody is going to jail unless there is some sort of fraud involved or something egregious enough to make it a criminal matter.
Unfortunately, these scammers play on people's worst fears and often target seniors who don't always think straight/logically.
Five-ish years ago, my Mum got a call that went something like this, as per her account:
My Mom's got incredible acting skills and pulled this gem a couple of years ago:
I've never received the child in trouble scam call, but I would do something similar if I ever receive one and tell the caller the kids are incorrigible and they can keep them and do whatever they want to punish them.
Once they realise you have more tha a few gramms of brain matter- they instantly lose interest and switch to another vitctim.
I also suspect supervisors monitor the lines because I've had scam calls where the scammer is mid sentence when the call abruptly disconnects. I seem to recall some of these "scam centers" (for lack of a better term) have quotas and bosses will cut off calls that are obviously not going to be successful so the scammers can find another potential victim without too much wasted time in between.
I'm sure everyone knows about Kitboga when it comes to dealing with scammers.
I can't remember if I discovered Kitboga before or after a previous mention on the site, but I loved the videos I've seen both here and on the YouTube channel.

One of my personal favorite scam calls I dealt with was a tech support scammer who insisted a computer had some sort of Malware. I spent a bit of time playing with the buttons on my microwave and told him truthfully I couldn't see any icons on my screen and nothing was loading up. He was paying attention well enough, though, that he called me out when I mentioned an F-13 key. He wasn't too thrilled when I told him I knew it was a scam the whole time and I enjoyed wasting his time.
Some of these scammers have such thick accents I have no idea what they are even saying or what the scam of the day is supposed to be.

I can't help wondering how much that hinders their success when people can't fall for the scam because they have no idea what's being said.
