If you want to do something extra, try filling out all 600+ enemy listings in the game.

There's a few enemies that are rare spawns and some can only be found at very specific locations that would otherwise remain unvisited.

Do this in tandem with completing the sidequests, there's one sidequest involving blackjack that has some weird way to unlock it instead of the list having it unlock naturally, that's the only sidequest you need to check if the NPC is up to start it.

The whole world in the game is worth exploring.

All I want is a HD remake of Dragon Quest IX. I love that one. People tend to be annoyed at how the main character and party members have no dialogue or personalities in it because you can make your own but when I played it as a kid I liked that ‘cause it meant I could use my imagination and make up my own character backstories for all the party members.

If it helps that's the one we're likely to get next :optimistic:. All of the games have been remade in order, with VIII being the most recent.

No-one knows when though, it could be years.

No spoilers but lol sylvando
I just did that bit and LUL.

So gay, but I laughed the whole way through.

Edit : Also those Dragonovian Trials..I am doing the XP limiter and wow they have a very strict meaning of "lower level than you" I've gone into new dungeons and gotten no xp except from the boss

It's super short, but it's aged fairly well.

I'd argue that it avoids some of the issues that the subsequent ones because it doesn't have party AI that messes you about.

Apparently ps4 owners are upset because it goes off of graphics from the Switch or something.

Is there new content exclusive to the ps4 version or it is a carbon copy? Don't even know if they get that bonus 2D world mode thing with all the previous games lands

-The original Japanese release of Dragon Quest XI was for PS4 and 3DS. Both versions had a lot of exclusive content and mechanics, and you could move your save file from one version to the other using a password system.(Fun Fact said password system also had a function that allowed you to generate loot-filled save fills for the original Famicom versions of of Dragon Quest I and II, which used passwords). Since we only got the PS4 version and our versions of the first two games used save batteries, the password system was removed.

-The Switch version has a mixture of content from both the PS4 and 3DS versions(on top of a large amount of completely new content), but still missing some freatures from both(the Crossbow quest from the PS4 version and the Tockle dungeon minigame from the 3DS version, and the rewards gained from both of those). The Japanese version also eliminated the password stuff the older versions had.

-The port of the Switch version is just that, a port. No new content and is still missing the things the Switch version was missing. Because it is a simple port the graphics are also not as good as the PS4 version was.

After 1-3 sold poorly on IOS and the switch, it doesn't seem likely.
That’s because it was a literal port of the ios versions, with graphical errors to boot. They already have DS versions of the games that they can use, and the ios versions are extremely similar graphically.

Check out the remakes of 4, 5 and 6 on the DS if you haven't already. They're some of the best games ever made imo, especially 4, which is almost perfectly balanced difficulty wise. My biggest gripe with DQ7 onwards was how braindead easy they were. Still amazing games though.

I know, but we didn't even get the free version of the trilogy that the PS4 got in japan.

I think I've got every mainline US release outside of the NES version of 4. But the fact that we can't even get the versions used for the GBC ports of 1-3 is pretty sad.
