Finally getting around to playing Dragon Quest IV. When I met up with Torneko, I was surprised that I was getting the boat so early. Then I realized that I had been playing for almost 11 hours.

Bit of a necro post regarding DQT, i'm playing it on Steam atm and it's pretty bloody fun. I thought the gameplay loop would bore me with treasure system but i can pick and choose what i want to do so it's not to monotonous. Can't wait to finish it and start on DQ builders or go back and finish the Dark Prince.

You are gonna have fun with Builders. Make sure you play them in order because once you play 2 it is hard to play 1 again. Lots of quality of life improvements.

Frankly, it’s small, and it’s pretty much invisible on the sprite, but its annoying that they did that.

This other class also had the woman oufit edited to cover more at the bottom despite already wearing dark tights:

How hard would it be to mod the sprites in a game like this? Surely somebody did sprite editing mods for the Octopath games.
 
I knew they wouldn't leave Fem. Warrior or Fem. Gadabout alone. Can't have anything nice.

Shouldn't be horribly difficult - there's plenty of mods for Switch games that do more extensive things.

I heard some people claim that Sweet Baby Inc. was involved in DQ3 2D HD; oh well, it happens. Some weirdness was unveiled with the character creator, though:

  • Body-Types, a la Terraria (or maybe Runescape). As per Japanese tradition, the classic option is all the way to the right, and the ugliest options are all the way to the left. There is almost certainly a gender selector, though, for the classic female Mage costume was not among the four options (hood, elf twink, female Mage but with a weaker hat, and classic) shown for Mage.
  • They made voices for every single personality type in the game... THEN decided that you should be able to just pick whichever voice you want. I imagine that the voice solely exists for those awkward sounds the silent protagonist makes in DQ11, and maybe for little Octopath Traveler lines.
  • You can now go full RPG Maker MV by choosing a different color palette for your hair. I'd like to think that they introduced this because they fucked up the hair colors in the cell phone ports.
  • Guys can now have the overpowered-as-fuck female personalities, including Vamp (also known as "Whore").
Oh, and they SEEM to have replaced Monster Betting Arenas with mini versions of the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince arenas. You can now get "friendly" monsters, send them to an old man, and groom them into proper contenders for 3v3 combat.

Honestly? I prefer the half-chibis from the cell phone port. I kinda hope they still sell those ports on the Switch after this. It's shaping up to be a very different game with the same story.

Thankfully the tranny bullshit seems to be dead in the water as Healizah can only change the face, hair, and voice of a character and not their sex, name, or personality. You will note that there is no indicator icon to scroll to the male thief options in this screenshot, and that Samantha is referred to as a woman instead of they:

Admittedly the press is being vague when the healslime is said to change a character's appearance, but I'm making the safe bet that it's just the aforementioned face/hair/voice. On that note there's no indication that any voice can be applied to a character either, so no femboy bullshit.

Thank goodness the DS remakes were made 15 years ago. They'll probably fuck up 13 now, too. They jumped on the DEI train after it derailed.

Doubtful. DQ13 will take so long that by the time they finish, it’ll take a second for everyone to remember what DEI was. I was there for KH3 and FFXV

None of these terms are sex-specific and there's no prompt to enter a second page so they're determined by the character being a man or a woman. The vamp personality being unisex is still bullshit though.
