DQM1 had a character from DQ...6?'s sister get kidnapped and he followed her to rescue her by beating the Elite 4 and becoming Pokemon League Champion or something... Only it turns out that she was doing the same damned thing and the last storyline fight was against her.

I guess what I'm saying is when Deborah is revealed to be your rival or the final boss of this new DQM game, lets all pretend to be surprised while suppressing a smile, k?
Deborah was a retarded extra added for the DS remake. I hope she makes no appearances at all.

I don't know what they have planned, maybe Bianca and the sabrecat go on some sidequest where they meet Flora early but it'd be hard to make that fit in the DQ5 plot without some liberties.

That hair, lol.. are DQ turning into wokeslop?..

I’d be willing to argue that they’re just trying to make the protagonist look different from pervious protagonists, considering the art style Dragon Quest uses falls into “Toriyama only has 4 faces he can draw., but that’s just Dragon Quest still having good will it can draw from.

But realistically it’s probably just “Well fuck we’ve restarted development, what can we salvage?”

It looks like it is their way of making him "racially ambiguous". So its not “Well fuck we’ve restarted development, what can we salvage?”.

I wish they would do it </3

I enjoyed both DQ:Builder games.
But am still sad DQX's story is coming to an end, not fully caught up on it yet though.

Has anyone finished the Dark Prince DQM? I played the demo and picked up the game on sale, but it’s just been sitting on my shelf. It didn’t really feel like a DQM game, so I haven’t really had any drive to pick it back up.

Deborah better at least make a cameo, if not a playable character in the new game. Maybe they could make it an option to convince her to join you. I hope we also get Gema/Ladja. He’s still my favorite antagonist in the series.

The new hero definitely looks off. Was he designed by Toriyama? Or is it by someone mimicking his style? I can’t imagine they’ll ever change it, which is fine by me.
Debora wasn't in the original DQ5, she was added in the remakes. But they do keep using her in spinoffs, so... She makes a perfect villainess, so I'd be surprised if she's not the rival character in this. There are two girlies in this and the logo has a sun and moon icon, so I'm guessing maybe you pick one or the other? (Edit: Horii has mentioned that yes, Debora is in the new DQM, and yes, you'll have to pick between the two girls.)

It was confirmed Toriyama did the new hero. He's supposed to look sickly and tired. Theory is when he falls asleep he teleports into another world (apparently as a lizardman), so he is sleep deprived when awake.

The hair is odd but he's done that kind of hair before, like one of the DQ6 characters has it, the evil god villain from Dragon Ball Super had it, etc etc. Frankly I'm more worried that DQ decided to add it's first furry characters and they're weird looking dragon-people. Pixiv is going to lose their shit about this.

As for DQM TDP, I finished it. It's very good. It's on sale right now if anyone wants it, $10 on Steam or Switch. Of the two, the Switch has multiplayer, but not much of one. They disabled it on Steam rather than try and prevent cheating. Probably a good idea, but the mutliplayer in DQM TDP is so anemic there's no reason to bother.

My thoughts on DQM TDP...

It was... ok, but it had some moments where it just skipped forward in the story, like they were out of time or rushing things or something. It retells DQ4 from the villain's perspective, sort of, then keeps going further and the timeline diverges. The real odd thing is you can't create the last few bosses, which is typically something you aim to do in these kinds of games. It had a postgame but the postgame was like a 3 room dungeon, an absurdly overpowered boss fight, can't create him either, and then it just... stops. It's the kind of thing they did with the Joker games then swung back with updated expansion releases later to flesh things out.

I'm guessing I was supposed to recognize the last few bosses from DQ4 but I didn't.

Gameplay wise it was very similar to Joker 3 Professional, with a few changes I can't bother to think enough about to remember. Maps had rare eggs (a throwback from Dragon Quest Monsters 2's re-release on Mobile devices) and rare spawns and the like, all of which would have been extremely annoying to farm later on if the game had a real online component. One thing that was missing was the live-services like online component that the remakes of Monsters 1, Monsters 2, Joker 3 Professional, etc all had, where you'd download a challenge fight once a day and could get coins and rare monsters from it.

All told it was ok. Not great. I expected DLC to come for it eventually but it never happened.

All this and you didn't include Ubuu, Zamatsu, or the guy from Dragon Ball Daima with the literal exact same hair?

It's just latter day Toriyama styling. The only big catch is he looks sick and tired.

I do think they might be on to something that they kept this character design despite Toriyama having made him for a dark, edgy, "post apoc fantasy" type DQ game. He at least looks better in motion.

Plus there's a theory that it's the lizard that's the playable character, not the human hero.

Have you tried Pokopia? Some of the DQB2 devs at Omega Force worked on it and it's pretty much DQB3 in all but name.
The shaved sides is a give away, this woke bs start with small changes as always. they are boiling the frog slowly...

DQ12 revealed. They scrapped the initial dark and edgy theme and came up with a new title - Flames of Fate is now Beyond Dreams. Apparently development was completely restarted so the wait is going to be quite long still.
On one hand, this is quite concerning because it gave me Metriod 4 Prime vibe and you know how that ended up.
On the other hand, I don’t mind waiting. I started looking into DQ last January and I am basically this:

The only game I still didn’t know what to make of is DQ7 because it’s such a rabbit hole. There are 3 versions and each have thier highs and lows.
From what I understand Reimagine is led by a guy who never finished the tutorial of the OG which really speaks for itself .

Deborah bros are so back.

Also damn, the fans already making art of DQ12 Hero

Also, its kinda funny that it's the westerners that are the ones freaking the fuck out over DQ12, meanwhile the JP fans are generally happy with fewer people upset.

Looking at the fanarts … yes now I remember why he looked familiar
He looks like Nanashi from Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse
