the worst part of this is without him, it is a GUARANTEE shueisha is going to run DB into the fucking dirt. expect by the end of the year 4 spin off announcements and fox/disney fast tracking another live action movie
Also we'll never get a proper 4:3 uncropped HD Blu-ray release of DBZ.

I could tolerate all the other obnoxious bullshit if we had that much.

Weird, I just started rewatching Dragon Ball the other day (:_(

F, his work was the only thing standing between the Mexican people and total cartel rule.

RIP man. DBZ was a part of my childhood, even though Toriyama didn't care about DB that much anymore, given the sheer amount of plotholes and overall shittyness of DBS. I can only hope that Shueisha, instead of running this whole franchise into shit, will give off a grand finale to DBS (idk, beerus going full autism and fighting against goku, for real this time) and end this with grace.

What a fucking shock to wake up to. Here's to our favorite dirty old man and may he find peace in rest.
Enjoy a little interview

RIP Toriyama.

I imagine that just about like everyone here, I think I was first exposed to Dragonball when I was 9 or 10 on Toonami. One of my biggest memories from back then was spending an entire Saturday afternoon watching Toonami do back to back DBZ waiting for Goku to go Super Sayian for the first time and defeat Freiza.

Looking back its probably the biggest reason I had friends at the time. I was a white kid living in southern New Mexico and one of like three white kids in my school, but it didn't matter because I liked DBZ and so I fit in fine down there and had plenty of friends as a result.

Rewatched that Arc in December decades later. We will never know his likes again, and the world is lesser for his absence.

I only just heard, this is painful.
It is pretty much guaranteed that Anime would have taken much longer to become widely available in the US without him and I love his art style.

RIP.

Yeah, DBZ was, for many, their first anime.
Other anime at that tier would be Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Gundam Wing, generally anime that managed to get on international TV in the 90s or early 00s.
Crossposting content from another thread. It's only a sample of how much influence Toriyama had.
/a/ has a good thread where they're posting Dragon Ball references in other anime, in light of Akira Toriyama's passing.

Pressing F to pay respects. Toriyama influenced a LOT.

Well I just discovered "Lady Red" on the MATI thread.

https://dbzeta.net/threads/lady-red-akira-toriyamas-3-page-manga.19297/

Guess I have to take back that eulogy now.
a three page comic strip in chibi style about a dumb woman who thinks she can play superhero predictably getting raped
and not even graphically raped, comedically
from what i heard about this, i originally assumed it was going to be some dark seinen type stuff, but really it's just another gag manga with black comedy that'd rub the sensitives wrong

You're the dichotomic parallel of the social justice warrior that realized a celebrity said nigger faggot in a past movie.
