Then how come Freeza's robotic implants didn't make him stronger?
They did.

But the whole point of those chapters was to show how powerful Trunks was, and in turn show how much of a threat the Androids were.
You'd think making a cyborg out of an evil space emperor who could already blow up planets would make for a stronger final product than some random human teenagers who were kidnapped off the street.
Eh, maybe I'm just weird, and should spend more time on the Kanzenshuu forum. I can accept kung-fu space monkeys that can punch through mountains and blow up planets using a form of Taoism, so to me super androids that can square up against them is no problem the same way that Luthor can fight Superman in power armor or Doctor Doom can yeet the Silver Surfer. After all, any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic (or chi in Dragon Ball).

As for planet busting, Vegeta was able to blow up a planet in the Sayian Saga (and he was the weakest of Frieza's inner circle), and Master Roshi blew up the moon in the OG DB (at a power level of what, 200?).

Hell, Android Tien whooping present Zamasu's ass would be a great way to show the human fighters can still be important. And you can't tell me that Android Yamcha with an energy-powered Wolf Fang Fist wouldn't be cool.
I feel that goes into the territory of 'Why doesn't Tony just give everyone Iron Man armor? Why not mass produce the spiders that bit Parker?' Since that changes the characters too much. I do agree that the human characters get shafted way to much in Super (especially my boy Tien). Even in the Android and Cell saga they were able to keep up (17 even said that if all the Z Fighters ganged up on 18 she would be finished) and move the plot. Now they just talk about how awesome Goku and Vegeta are...

Freeza's gone from calling them monkeys to internalizing that racism and becoming omega racist.

I mean, shit, why didn't they scan 18's cybernetics and have Bulma install the same tech in Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, Videl, Roshi, and Chiaotzu? At that point you'd get some pretty powerful androids, since if this tech turned a bunch of runaways into a match for a Super Saiyan, imagine what it can do for someone who can already fight at the same level that a standard Saiyan could. You'd get guys that can probably pancake Majin Buu or even fuckin Zamasu. Hell, Android Tien whooping present Zamasu's ass would be a great way to show the human fighters can still be important. And you can't tell me that Android Yamcha with an energy-powered Wolf Fang Fist wouldn't be cool.

Shit, give Mr. Satan those cybernetics, and he can be the hero he pretends to be.
The biggest problem would be the in-universe justification.

Why would Yamcha want to become an android when he's content with being a baseball player? Roshi is plenty strong on his own, so I don't see why he would go for it and Videl doesn't do any fighting as of Super.

Krillin has bigger concerns outside of fighting (like his family) and Tien seems like the kind of guy that would perfer to get stronger through natural means.

I think everyone will be very pleased to hear that the global release is doing A LOT better than expected! Not only did Super Hero's U.S. premiere earn $10.8 million on Friday (with an additional $4 million in previews) and blow Pokemon: The First Movie's opening day out of the water, but it's expected to go further beyond a $21 million prediction over this weekend! WOO-HOO!
Seriously, with everything this film had against it, you'd think Toei would start taking notes and thinking outside the box to advertise smaller characters just as small, but smart. And with that said, I'm off to watch the sub in theaters!

'Kay. Wake me up when it surpasses the first Pokémon movie in total.

Spoiler alert: Lol. Lmao. Nice try.

Just got back from seeing Super Hero. It's actually really good. The CGI isn't as off-putting as I imagined it would be. My only niggle with the movie is that Goku and Vegeta even make an appearance at all.

I should be watching it sometime next week.

The film was fantastic, cool battles, lots of great character moments and cute gags. My favourite moment is 18 looking at Pan, making a cute smile, immediately catching herself and going back into no nonsense mode. Pan herself is adorable, Abe's wish lives on.

Few issues I had: No Great Saiya Man, and Super Gohan using the move that killed his dad, I know it's Piccolo's most famous move but the history behind it makes a touching moment more of a wtf.

We had the father-son Kamehameha in the Cell arc, this was the other-father-son Special Beam Cannon. Once again a trusted father figure gaslights Gohan into fighting a biomechanical monstrosity to unlock his inner potential. Pan and Piccolo scheming was stupidly cute and the thing I was most surprised/pleased about was seeing Trunks and Goten looking their actual age and for once I didn't find Gotenks annoying. I also love Piccolo's Chad face and the fact that Vegeta finally, finally get's one over on Goku.

If you want the humans to get a power boost, just let them learn the Kaioken. It’s not a massive boost on par with Goku’s transformations, but it would be something.

I'm pretty sure the manga is just going around in circles at this point. None of it is canon to Toriyama's work anyways, so who the fuck cares?

It just seems like they're throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Which is exactly how we got the Android and Buu Sagas.
Chill my nigger, you are getting dangerously close to taking this show too seriously and mutating into one of those kanzenshou-grade autists. Toriyama doesn't take this stuff seriously and neither should you, not even when it was his literal job to entertain a perpetually revolving door of Japanese 8yos and seedy-as-fuck bamco suits. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
The biggest problem would be the in-universe justification.
People complain that the characters are all too similar to begin with, making three of them androids would only make that worse and leech off the main gimmick of two fan-favorites. None of the humans are the type to willingly get converted as you've said, so a Dr. Hedo upgrade is likely going to be reserved for 17, 18, and maybe Marron if they decide to follow up on that plot thread from the monster island bit.

Hell, watching a little girl bully 17's pet Cell jrs would be great and needs to happen.

I'm annoyed the anime brought that back, because shouting out "TIMES TWENTY!11ONE" in the middle of a fight is dumb and panders to power level faggotry. I'd rather they invent new techniques altogether that aren't the same generic huge blasts.

Whoops. That's what I guess for overestimating myself from a sourceless tweet. Then again, it could be adjusted by inflation.
No, you got it right when it came to opening day, but overall, the first Pokémon movie has reigned king of anime movies in the U.S. You ever want to point out how huge Pokémania was, you look no further than the overall total U.S earnings of the first movie, and then point out how the 50% drop with the second film (which was still considered a big deal) still made it be the second-highest anime movie in the U.S. until just recently.

Should be in the next week.
Lol. If Demon Slayer's movie couldn't even cut it close, nor could Broly knock down the second Pokémon film to third place, Dragon Ball: Super Hero isn't going to be able to touch Mewtwo Strikes Back. Breaking the opening day record for distributed anime films for the first time in literal decades is not bad, but it still has a long way to go in the U.S.

Eh, I suppose you're right. It basically is still just a superhero story, and superhero stories barely have a proper sense of scale. One day, Superman tanks a sun blowing up, then the next, he gets shocked by Livewire. Goku fights with Golden Freeza at one moment, then gets nailed by the DBZ equivalent of a blaster the next.

Dragon ball is more consistent than capeshit in that regard, but what I was referring to was going with the capricious nature of Toriyama. There is no master plan, its just a goofy action comedy where the idiot protagonists happen to kick violent douche bags in the face. Just sit back and enjoy this experimental period where other characters are getting the spot light, as well as be grateful the series has stopped churning out five different super saiyan stages to keep that revolving door of 8yo readers engaged.
