@RX-78 you know damn well Gotenks will be thirty seconds of the same one joke, just like he has been every time after his first appearance.

Thirty years running of that shit...

Last preview and a potential scene leak where- oh goddammit, Toei! AGAIN with the character regression?!

On one hand, I'm very happy Videl took over the Satan family business and is no longer housewife fodder! I can also believe that Gohan is a workaholic, but it's disappointing to see him put research > family > training if he asks Piccolo to pick up his daughter, which was the very thing he's criticized about the most by rabid "fans" (moreso when you think about the "hurr door Goku bad dad" dead horse). There's no excuse for Gohan to balance all three and not become a fightaholic!
On the other hand, it doesn't seem like a regular thing given Piccolo's godfather/mentor role here; he wants Gohan to become stronger because despite his harsh lessons, he has faith in his student and knows what he’s capable of!

I'll end this post on a positive note with this adorable as fuck shot:

That link keeps giving me a server error for some reason, but I assume it was covered in your spoiler. I can't say I disagree on any point, but I'm also so jaded over this series and I've been able to spot the repeating jokes for decades now, so I'm just going to take the proactive Videl and cute Pan as a capital W. My biggest gripe is that this is exactly the character dynamic that should have taken place between Gohan and Piccolo during the seven years of peace after cell--it's like this logical plot line just leaped forward in time for no reason and the series suffered for it.

As for spoilers:
I don't understand why people are upset about Piccolo wishing for his potential to be unlocked when Dende is unable to do it on his own. The weirdest part of this to me is the "but why didn't he do that to kill cell/buu" line of thinking, and my answer to that is the same reason he didn't spend an afternoon in the time chamber after becoming whole again: Toriyama is a retard and doesn't plan ahead. As for using the dragon balls to wish for strength, no one did that because of muh fighters pride during the training arcs and they didn't do it during the conflict with a villain because they weren't sure if they would need the wish in reserve or not. I question why he didn't hop in the time chamber for an afternoon this time, but then again it seems like everyone forgot that thing exists in the first place

As for the gripes about him "not earning the transformation", I point out that vegeta only reached ss2 because an alien wizard held his hand and stamped an M on his forehead, and that neither Guru agressivly squeezing Krillin's skull nor Old Kai dancing around Gohan for a day are any better.

My spoiler pretty much says the same, so you didn't miss anything! My thoughts exactly.

Speaking of Pan though, I have the distinct impression that she's going to be pushed all the way to the moon and back in the next few years, to borrow wrestling jargon. She may not save the day in this movie, but she'll have a moment reminescient of Gohan one-shoting radditz.

Not on-topic to the movie, but I picked up one of those phonebook-newsprint "Dragon Ball" manga volumes at the dollar store and I figured I'd give OG DB a chance.
What comes off as tedious gayass nonsense in anime form is actually fast-paced and funny in the original. I was pleasantly surprised.

Toei has two modes of pacing: molasses, and Speedy Gonzalez. DB was sadly the former.

Not only that, but I think the gags just work better in manga form where you can just hit the highlights and reaction shots in each panel. You can go right from "Goku pats down some girl" to "Goku gets slapped and his eyes bug out of his skull".

I have to wonder what the difference between the bidding wars for an action episode's and a talking episode's commercial breaks looked like.

I read through the second half of DB and the Saiyan and Frieza sagas a year or two ago. It was really fast and snappy and I feel a lot of the messaging from the 23rd tourney and PD arcs were missed in the show, drowned in filler.

alright why are people obsessed over this one scene in the movie? Some people are caring about Gohan getting a redemption arc, while others.... are more caring of Bulma having a bigger ass in the movie.

So allegedly a certain scientist from a certain fighting game gets a cameo in the movie, and if that's true then that means that somewhere out there is a man working at bamco who managed to force his OC donut vore queen into his favorite childhood series by gaming the Japanese corporate etiquette of never questioning one's superiors. Let that be a lesson to all of us, there isn't anything you cannot accomplish in life if you sperg hard enough about it.

I'll be honest all I know about her is from images I've seen of her. Haven't played the game and seeing the footage it looks like she was conceived by someone from DeviantArt who had a vore fetish.
