This can be applied to all powerscalers regarding battle shounen.
the worst part of it is that it's never meant to be that deep
it's an excuse for flashy cool fights, which hopefully aren't fartcloud fests
The funny part is that Kinnikuman, the series which made power levels famous after Astro Boy invented the concept with the villain Pluto, instantly subverted the notion right out of the gate. To clarify, the boss of the seven devil choujin arc was Buffaloman who boasted a power of 10,000,000, a staggering advantage over Kinnikuman's 950,000 and previous arc villain Warsman's 1,000,000. When Buffaloman and Warsman fought, the latter pointed out how relying on pure numbers in a fight is absurd and demonstrated this by using situational boosts and intelligent maneuvers to raise his own power to 12,000,000 and dealt a crippling blow to Buffaloman before his plot-induced weak point took him out of the fight so Kinnikuman could trample him for the finale.

Toriyama has stated that power levels do not real and that using the concept was a terrible mistake, and to give him credit I would also make water-brained decisions if I had to toss out 13 high quality pages every week on top of doing Dragon Quest IV's yearl-long concept art and then promotional pieces. I'm totally certain he'd redo the whole saiyan saga and half of the Freeza saga if given the chance, just to get autists to stop asking him the exact same number questions over and over.

TLDR: the series creator has publicly stated that these types of fans are retarded.
Oh, I fucking hated the discourse during periods of roster reveals for Ultimate.

"Um, Character X can't in because of Y Reason!"

And Y Reason is just something they made up like having to be "currently relevant" and similar things. I don't think I saw a single one of those made up rules that wasn't broken by at least one fighter that was already in the roster.
Cloud predates Ultimate but he remains the golden boy for stomping half of those rules flat. You will still see three-way arguments about whether it should have been Terra, an unnamed chocobo, and even a generic black mage used instead due to "being more associated with Nintendo".

its even basically explained in DBZ that the reason Vegeta ditched his scouter is because he realized power levels are bullshit.
Which is pretty funny. It's like Tori only used powerlevels for the sole purpose of showing that theyre unreliable bullshit numbers, since it started with Raditz. Dude thought his scouter was busted because it kept showing gohans power fluctuate like mad, and then seeing piccolo & goku's numbers shoot up out of nowhere while concentrating their attacks.

It was always the fans putting more weight to these arbitrary, bullshit numbers despite the fact they were clearly introduced to be nothing more than a "don't judge a book by it's cover" thing.
I totally agree with all of that. Don't get me wrong, every arc in DB/DBZ/DBS is good, but idk why everyone's favorite arc is the Cell Saga.

Also gonna add OG Dragonball>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DBZ
The people who sperg over cell being the best are people who grew up alongside Gohan basically. He was their self insert so him surpassing everyone was some big cathartic moment for them.
theres a reason why all of the other antagonists have been brought back but cell is still dead.
Because Toriyama hated drawing the bugman because of all the spots. Same reason he got rid of the tails.

Autism. Autism and retardation go hand in hand when it comes to powerscalers.

Honestly, the last good arc in terms of writing in all of Dragonball was King Piccolo. I want to rewatch it just thinking about it. If I think about any of Z half-way seriously, it all falls apart. Fucking gods are weaker than the space emperor's grunts. Jesus Christ.

Wasn't too bad at first. It was when Supreme Kai came in, hyped up as some actual God tier entity, only to immediately get punked out by goku and absolutely roflstomped by boo that the concept of God's in DragonBall was made pointless. Super tried to fix that with the Angels and GoD's, but they take any possible stakes out of any arc they're in because of how strong they are.

It's so absurd. Something on the level of Buu, who was going to destroy the fucking afterlife, is like an ant to them yet they never do anything about it. If Z didn't exist, there'd be less Dragonball talk but it'd be called an untarnished classic by almost everyone.

You can tell how invested Toriyama was in continuing dragon ball when his explanation for why Beerus didn't obliterate Buu when he was at his weakest state was that Beerus just sucks at his job. Speaking of Buu and powerscaling autism, I'm seeing Black Freeza reenter the conversation again after more than a damn year.

Black Frieeza shouldn't be a thing, it sounds so funny it's criminal. Nigga be powerin' up 'n' shieeeeet.

That shouldn't be a transformation.

everyone who isn't goku is a jobber
let's be real here
we must be watching a different series because The Prince has defeated goku on three, count them THREE, separate occasions

A year after Seth got exposed and he still has fans. Some would be surprised, but a retard with some charisma will keep lesser retards at his/her side. Just look at Vaush.

I've also decided to remind you all that dragon ball OC's still unfortunately exist.

Because of course.

I honestly think, even with the warts, dragonball is an untouchable classic up to the end of freeza. It's when the androids/cell show up that the show becomes the flat out meme its seen as today, imo.
Time travel, a new villain every other chapter, everyone is getting new forms/power ups every other page, fake out deaths, actual deaths being IMMEDIATELY undone like Trunks being killed by cell etc. Only truly good thing to come from the cell arc is Krillin getting himself a RealDoll, the anime fight with 17/Piccolo and Tenshinhan getting a final hurrah even if it amounted to nothing.

Dragonball Donut Steals are the OG Sonic/Brony OC. And somehow twice as autistic, and 10x less creative.
Toriyama doesnt draw shit these days he flogs all of that work off too his slave assistants
Probably for the best, because Tori's art just isn't the same as it used to be. Even during the Boo saga it was taking a noticeable dip. Which is to say nothing of the weird choice of slimming everyone down to an insane degree come Battle of God's, only to kinda walk it back with RoF, then go full DBZ with Nu-Broly.
What gets me with the modern DB art is that even if these hacks can copy his general style, no one is capable of drawing hands the way Toriyama could and they sure as fuck can't panel like he could either.

Namek and Frieza are iconic, but that's more because of style than actual substance. Super Saiyan makes no fucking sense. The scaling makes no fucking sense. The massive amount of plot conveniences make no sense. Toriyama has admitted to writing by the seat of his pants, and it's incredibly obvious if you think about the plot more than a moment.

xenoverse 1 and 2 exist to satisfy this autism without the retardation going through with it is

Toriyama was so checked out on the Cell saga that he didn't even give him a final form, he just modified Cashman and called it a day:

I think the idea is that SS forms are concentrated and sustained adrenaline bursts that tap into one's max potential to boost ki, which is why Goku focused on reaching higher and higher levels instead of just training his base form and why the fuel efficiency goes to shit the higher the level is. Allegedly this is an explanation Toriyama had since the Buu saga and is why Old Kai told Gohan act as if he was going SS to bring out his full potential: as with all things Toriyama sucks at communicating his ideas in the manga itself.

I ain't touching that OC dumpster fire with a 100 foot power pole.

How'd the saiyan saga get a 9/10? It was nothing but asspulls to stall for time, including vegeta taking a 3 hour nap.

A year after Seth got exposed and he still has fans. Some would be surprised, but a retard with some charisma will keep lesser retards at his/her side. Just look at Vaush.
Admittedly it doesn't take much to look charismatic when your competition is that nebbish spic. In seth's case it's also due to power level autists being submissive as a rule: speak with authority and you can tell them whatever they want.

I really loved the filler and the comedic aspects. My favorite part was the first half before the fight with vegeta and nappa. I guess I gave it a 9 cause it has the OG Dragonball feel that I love.
