Anders only works when you are a mage Hawke. Near every templar is suspicious of you and even Meredith is somewhat aggressive only 'cus of your status.
Only when i play as mage Hawke i let Anders live and siding with the mages. The other classes are always with the templars and killing Anders.
But romancing him? Only schizos or tumblrinas do that.
Playing as a mage makes Hawke even worse, because you see first had how every mage is a potential conduit for demonic possession and how a single mage can cause enormous damage when they act selfishly. Yes, if I were a mage and I existed in that world, I would be resentful at having to live in glorified slavery under the scornful eye of a militant order who is waiting for any excuse to cut my head off, but the treatment of mages is 100% justified. Be grateful you're not a Qunari mage.

I mean Anders as a character-not just a love interest. I like Anders as a character-I can't help but think of him when I hear the DAI song "Enchanters".

It's a shame they wrote Vivienne as such an obnoxious bitch, because she embodies this argument and she's completely right. They just had to water it down by making sure her Circle was a glorified country club and not a concentration camp.

Vivienne's whole deal is she is a social climber, who has had to scrape, scheme and fuck her way to get where she is. She has a vested interest in making sure the entire system doesn't collapse.

Oh definitely-the games don't shy away from what templar abuse is like. Rape, beating, summary execution, or being made tranquil. But we also see what happens when mages harken to the promises of demons.

Disaster. Whether its Meredith's little sister killing 70 people, or Connor raising an undead army, or Uldred being consumed by the pride demon he summoned-turning the circle into a charnel house.

The templars and Chantry's policy is correct-free mages mean either Tevinter magocracy, or abominations and demons ripping people apart.

Yes, and that's the problem -- she's written with a built-in excuse to dismiss her arguments. But how she arrived at her conclusion doesn't matter if she's right.

My biggest argument in favor of the templars/chantry is magic brings destruction-we see this in every game, and the backstory.

It was after all the evanuris-that shattered the titans out of greed for bodies. The evanuris then decided to weaponize the blight. The magisters sidereal breached the black city-triggering the blights in Thedas. Tevinter ruled via blood sacrifice for a thousand years.

Magic in Dragon Age isn't just a power-it is tied intimately to the setting's history and always as something destructive and ruinous.

The templars and chantry's vigilance is the cost-for preventing the world the elves and tevinter built from coming back.

Yes there are real abuses-but magic in Thedas brings destruction, demons and death.

I do wonder if Anders was meant to go insane, even back during Awakening. irony of ironies his original VA went psychotic.

DA2 is actually solid, DLC included. Its really just the reused environments that are the issue. And Bethany sounding like she's 47 for some reason......(Carver is fine. His VA has been in many things from Witcher 3 to Last Story to Nioh 2!) Oblig Jean Gilpin as Meredith is based af comment.

I truly have no idea where they'd go next with the franchise. Besides off a cliff

Who needs those creepy Tumblr artists anymore when ChatGPT is a fan of the series?

I asked for the Hero of Ferelden taking a selfie with Hawke, the Inquisitor, Cullen, Morrigan, Leliana and Varric before a final suicide mission and... not too shabby.

The AI will always AI, heh, as I gave it a very sparsely detailed prompt to see what it can do - no gender, no race, nothing. So I guess the AI assumes the elf is the Inky, since the Alistair-lookalike looks like a Grey Warden and hence the Hero of Ferelden.

My effort to do a similar one for Rook and friends didn't work so well, although everyone in it looks like they have at least six sets of pronouns, so I guess it's not a complete fail?

All my characters are humans. The elf one seems gay.
The Grey Warden i always make like in the teaser trailer minus bald.
Hawke's signature face is basically Shepard's. So i never changed that one.
Inquisitor's character creation is a mess. Did you know scars doesn't appear if your using textures below high? Yep.
The lighting and the gloss is fucking irritating.
Last time i redone like 2 times before playing.

It's a vision of a future where they remake DA2 and make Merrill a pooner.

The trailer for the warden in origins is bizarre tbh-the Cousland warden is meant to be a very young man or woman-like 18-25 maximum. As opposed to some grizzled veteran in the sacred ashes trailer.

Not to mention you don't even fight darkspawn in the sacred ashes/urn quest anyway. So its a bit of false advertising. (I get why grizzled veteran vs fresh faced 22 year old-fits the gritty tone of both origins trailers but its not even accurate to a human warden's actual background).

(That's one thing people forget about the HoF tbh-they are not meant to be old or middle aged at all). Same for Inky tbh.

Inky though is clearly a female Lavellan-my canon Inky is a female Trevelyan but the Inky BioWare wrote as narratively central(having the most romance options namely Solas)-is a female Lavellan.

I played Inquisition as Stannis Baratheon the first time around and it was the best run ever, only time I ever played it to a hundred percent.

It was funny playing as this balding grizzled dude among these woman and gay designed characters, but it was even better and Inquisition despite it’s many flaws will always get praise for your character being able to proclaim yourself God, then bold-faced say you don’t believe in the Maker.

I did every chud choice, killed the french dykes, did the mage time quest cause its better but subjugated the mages, installed Vivienne as Divine because me and that catty bitch hit it off (love her, best girl, favorite black companion ever), belittled the entire cast because in the face of the apocalypse, their personal drama was gay and pointless.

Bull sacrificed his diversity squad, Cass let the Seekers die, Cullen stayed on that lyrium, Blackwall was ordered to carry on the lie and we enslaved that coward, Solas hated me on a deep level because I spat on his fag-shit, the dyke elf was hunted as a traitor and Dorian hated my guts too.

Because I was so hated, poor guy hooked up with Josephine (for family reasons and not out of any other reason), so that replicated Staniel’s loveless, awful marriage.

Full commitment to duty and order, cutting both ways and being a constant chad, the last time BioWare ever let you not be evil but utterly……. apathetic to the way they traditionally do games, even Renegade Shep in ME2 and ME3 was loved by the friendship simulator cast.

Witch Hunt was a fucking rip-off. Second worst ten bucks I ever spent (worst was Pinnacle Station).

I'd still play it over Veilguard, tho.

I'd rank Witch Hunt lower than Pinnacle Station. At least Pinnacle Station has that neat little apartment and the gambling terminal which can get you Battlemaster/Rage Armor, Level X Spectre weapons, and various Level X mods. It's practically a necessity in LE thanks to the way they changed the Spectre X rewards.
