I didn't liked the character. On plus side, you can beat him up properly in first dialogue. As for soldier class, it was still chosen by 70 or 80% of all players. And it was male Shepard too. Just like meme about human male warrior from D&D. Still remember the seethe
Well, yeah, and you don't need two soldiers. Its why in ME1 Ashley spent the whole game benched. Even so for a non-soldier Shep I don't know what he brings since your companions only do like half damage with their guns, and Garrus is far more versatile.

He's really good both at setting up (Incendiary Ammo) and triggering (Frag Grenade, Carnage) detonations.

I'll go against the grain and say I liked Vega quite a bit. There's a little more depth to him than the Jersey Shore 'bro look would indicate, and I thought Freddie Prinze's performance was perfectly charming. I left him on the ship a lot when I first played the game, because of course I was more attached to the other characters, but really, as a last minute addition he's better than I was led to believe. Definitely better than Jacob, at least.

Yeah, incendiary ammo is outright busted in ME3 with that explosion capstone. Don't know about the other power stuff though since Garrus gets Concussive Shot and Overload, and unlike Vega he can equip the Black Widow and Javelin, both of which stack with his AP rounds to allow him to pretty much ignore whatever cover the enemy is using. Which is pretty important since the AI loves shooting at whatever cover the enemy is using. I made the "mistake" of giving Garrus the Typhoon a few times and he just shredded everything that wasn't lucky enough to have shields or barriers with it, cover or no cover.

As to Vega himself, don't worry. I also liked Vega's character a lot. He's certainly interesting, and if it wasn't for Garrus existing I'd probably take him a lot more.

Giving Garrus the Typhoon is part of a strategy called "Garrus Ascends to Godhood," where with the Typhoon, the right mods, and the right outfit bonus he obliterates absolutely everything up to Brutes and Banshees, even on the highest difficulty setting, in a matter of seconds. It's so overpowered I actively avoid it. These games aren't that difficult; let me have some challenge.

On top of that I had literally nothing to shoot at, too! What sort of shooter game doesn't have any targets for the player to shoot at?

The City Elf's Kill Bill style origin story was so good. Ah the days of yore. As for this why the fuck did they have to make the female qunari into a dyke? At least give her more feminine features for fucks sake.

I feel like they would kill Harding off early but considering shes a main character, I doubt it. I have no fucking idea what Bioware is doing anymore.

Playing a City Elf origin first blind really set the expectations for me there. It really felt like the game wasn't pulling punches with its dark themes then, with you living in a literal ghetto and your (girl)friend being raped by the local powerdrunk noble.

Twenty years later and we're back into the kiddy pool somehow.

Not to mention the literal reference to KB in the main image with a blonde elf in wedding dress all bloody with a blade type weapon. Shame that look isn't actually in game. (Matter of fact you can't really have long hair at all in a Bioware game. This is despite the presence of characters like Miranda, Ashley, Isabella, and Flemeth.)

Many elements in the golden age of Bioware will be declared haram today.

The City Elf origin would be bad, the Dark Ritual will be haram because of consent and the problematic basis of only men can impregnate a woman what if my female Warden has a penis huh BIOWARE YOU TRANSPHOBES, desire demons have boobies and the sexy so they are a no no, Broodmothers are rape personified so nope, Jade Empire would be racist because the lead is not black, Edwin/Edwina is transphobia personified, half the male bards in Baldur's Gate would be cancelled for sexual harassment, and so forth.

Sadly, we have to accept that present day Bioware is the victim of and the result of present day pozzification of game industry.

Or if you are playing a female city elf, YOU are about to get raped by the local powerdrunk noble. hell, you watch your groom to be, get killed trying to save you.

You already see this in Inquisition, the creeping prudery. Sure, they have bare tits and asses for the first time in a DA game, but desire demons are gone (with the sole exception of Imshael, who never appears as anything that isn't male and/or horrifying) and there are no brothels. No brothels in Val Royeaux, where whores can be some of the most influential figures in the Empire. Granted, Val Royeaux was a massive letdown on multiple levels, but this felt more like a deliberate choice.

They don't actually believe this, TLOU2s Abby isn't a hero, she's a villain protagonist at best and progressive types jizzed their pants over her.
I sometimes forget that real humans actually paid for a copy of the last of us part 2, played it, and then shared their enthusiasm about it over the internet.
When I remember this fact, I become at peace with the current state of videogames.

Current day Bioware isn't even the same Bioware minus one or two names who are there out of obligation. I doubt a single dev from the era of Origins is still at the company. It's been nothing but new hires every release for them since Mass Effect 3.

Modern bioware sees the 'fantasy' genres as just an excuse to try and push their own personal fantasy lol. Not a way to explore a story in a fantastical setting.

I miss when creature and alien designs were meant to be interesting and not just conventionally attractive. Everything is just a human with a funny looking face, and/or horns or a tail. Maybe some markings or weird eyes. It's all so boring.
Not for nothing, but can't the same be said for a lot of Star Trek races?
