Hyenas? Don't remember how much it cost to produce but at least Concord was actually available to buy for a period and had spin-off material.
Concord will still come out ahead because it directly tainted both Sony's and Firewalk Studios' brand, leading directly to the closure of the latter. This already in addition to the development and marketing money thrown down the black hole.

Hyenas, while a loss, was strangled in the crib before either CA or Sega were dragged down into the mess. (In fact, CA is doing alright with their resumption of flogging TWW3 DLC) The Sega exec that made the call is probably feeling all sort of smug right now.

Interesting comparison, but I think the projected scale of concord (star wars like potential, amazon secret level stuff, custom controller stuff, ect) puts it a few paces above by itself. Like beyond the budget, everything else, and just BEING a failure, refusing to see a failure is the much BIGGER aspect. If everything is screaming at you "FUCKING RETARD THIS IS A BAD IDEA ABORT ABORT!!!" and you throw another 100 million in on it, thats not failure, thats just retarded. No bad idea will ever be made good with more funding, it will just burn money. And this has no upper limit. THAT is the key part, as late as it was, hyenas stopped at LEAST before launch. Not by much, but they did.

All the people attacking the chuds and defending BioWare as if their lives depended on it, are silent. No one is even trying to offer copium at this point.

If this means anything-it’s that a segment of liberals and leftists on Twitter and tumblr will defend anything-anything to own the chuds. Call it woke apologetics. Or anti chud polemics, IDK. This is true for vidya, film, TV and every other medium. It completely distorts how successful any given product is-because there is an element that will always defend it simply to “own the chuds”. We see this in video games, TV series(rings of power, modern Star Trek), and films(ghostbusters, TLJ, etc…)

If they ever make a new DA game (fat chance) the only way they can save it if all of ass guard was just a dream or the whole cast got killed by a nuke.
Hero of Ferelden wakes up the day after the Joining. Duncan is still alive. We're taken to Weisshaupt and enroll properly into the Grey Wardens, maybe we even get a gryphon mount that you need to bond with and of course your mabari is with you as well.

The HoF dying was telegraphed in Origins itself though. Either they refuse Morrigan's offer and die anyway, or the blight will take them within 30 years.

(Apparently also the calling comes faster for wardens that lived during a Blight). The HoF was always doomed to a short life. Unless...their quest in the far west succeeded. Which ofc BioWare is never going to answer.

I wish we had gotten a "Solas wins" ending where the Veil comes down.

I don't think if HoF is a mage. You have the old creep Warden from Soldier's Peak and ex-Warden Fiona from DA: I being old enough to overcome the calling. Both are mages.
Like i said before, if alive and romanced either Leliana or Morrigan in Origins tells you about HoF searching for a cure.

That's why, being interesting the cut content concept art leaked months ago with a zombie-like HoF is interesting if either alive, failing the quest by being a warrior/rogue.
But being a mage? I don't think so.

Anyways, Veilguard doesn't even considered Leliana. I'm so mad.

Fiona’s survival was some unexplained anomaly. That the games left intentionally mysterious. Avernus’ survived through blood sacrifice-he’s closer to Xenon the antiquarian. As a rotted out husk of a man.

The calling in itself doesn’t mean death-it means you become a ghoul. A twisted near zombie like creature that is completely enslaved by the blight.

The reason why wardens go on their death marches into the deep is to prevent this outcome-and die with dignity killing as many Darkspawn as they can.

Apparently it's not even availible to get if you live in the middle east lol

I prefer keeping the gryphons extinct/nearly extinct. It adds to the believability of the first blight being such a world-shattering event. The fact that they gave the niggerwarden a special boy gryphon was gay as fuck. I wouldn't even want my warden to have one since it just gives me "my special OC gets to have all the unique toys" vibes.

I'm okay with it if you get it as a special reward through a long, ardous side quest that has many fail states.

You know, then it'd be earned.

It's not about it being earned or not, world building falls apart the moment it starts bending backwards to fulfill fanciful whims.

The gryphons being brought back comes from the novel The Last Flight. So it has precedence before DAV.

Thematically, I'm so-so on the issue. The point of TLF was the wardens are somewhat responsible for the gryphons extinction-subjecting them to the taint to make them more effective against the darkspawn and throwing them into battles against the archdemon during the fourth blight.

(Basically at the end of the fourth blight-some untainted gryphon eggs were preserved and magically concealed). And then rediscovered about the time of Inquisition.

I haven't read the last flight-just summaries but I can sort of understand the themes here-sacrifice vs autonomy the burdens of the past, etc...

It was not a DAV invention. Same with the whole Celene/Briala/Gaspard business and tranquility being reversible(which actually caused Fiona to vote to secede from the chantry-not Anders' bombing).

Even considering playing this slop is some serious cuck behaviour. You need jesus.
I don't think it even matters if anyone plays it. Just claiming the game on PS+ is probably enough for EA to claim players 'engaged' with the title, even if they never install or boot it up.

I believe this is a last ditch attempt to fluff some numbers before the end of the financial year.

Looks like I misremembered which Blight they went extinct. Still, the setup pre-DAV for gryphons surviving extinction is beyond autistic.
Isseya manages to purge the taint from a clutch of eggs obtained from Amadis Vael's griffon. Amadis was Garahel's lover and the eggs of her griffon, Smoke, were sired by Garahel's griffon, Crookytail. Convinced the Wardens of the Exalted Age are not fit stewards of the griffons and hoping those of the future will be, Isseya uses magic to hide the eggs in suspended animation in a remote location that would later become home to a statue of Andraste, the "Red Bride." Isseya then takes her griffon, Revas, on one last flight before secreting her journal away at Weisshaupt rather than live in a world without the noble creatures.

Driven by her research to find this treasure in the present day, Valya then travels with a small group of companions to the site and is able to reanimate the eggs. They hatch, one chick in particular looking identical to Garahel's Crookytail. The hatchlings appear to be free of the taint, bringing Valya hope that they will rise again.
Rescuing a single clutch of eggs can't save an entire species without a ridiculously contrived setup. The closest real life example would probably be the Leonberger dog breed, but that was only possible due to crossbreeding being possible. Also have to mention, every prominent Warden character involved with the rescuing of gryphons is somehow an elf. Really shows the obsession with knife ears runs deep in this franchise.

Pulling this out my ass, but I think I heard Sega sunk $200 million into Hyenas before pulling the plug, and that probably includes marketing (because there was none) so I think Concord remains king of shit mountain.

Hyenas was $100m and it was pretty much just SEGA letting CA try and fail to move away from Total War and then telling them to shut the fuck up and get back to it after that monumental fuckup
I'd bet on Fairgame$ managing to outdo Concord on the failure scale though, for some reason sony have chosen that and Marathon as their live service hills to die on
They bought the studio for an undisclosed price which I'm betting is higher than what they paid for the concord studio and it's going to be in development years longer, it should have been put down already but they're still going with it for years more development
