Its so fucking funny that baldurs gate 3 is nothing more than a modernized dragons age origins, and it was stupid succesfull.
Imagine if, after inquisition, bioware had actually set out to make a true sequel to dragons age origins, in that case they would be about to release it right now, a game not that different to BG3, they could use the baldurs gate histeria and it would sell millions.

But instead they have dreadwolf, an even more casual version of dragon age inquisition with surely worse writing, will they keep the dialogue wheel? im sure those losers will.
Developers must be crying themselves to sleep at this HUGE missed oportunity, and i cant wait for them to go bankrupt.

The dialogue is the single funniest thing about the possible BG3 / Dreadwolf showdown.

Dragon Age: Origins represented one of the last gasps of the Unvoiced Protagonist in RPGs. After Mass Effect, there was clearly some directive from on high that told the DA team they had to have a Commander Shepard for the franchise instead of the large array of player choice that's right in the game's title. The result was Hawke, whose reception was so mixed that ... Inquisition was hastily rewritten to replace him as the franchise's lead character with a semblance of the choices you had in Origins.

But even with bringing back multiple main character choices, they still thought a voiced PC was nonnegotiable. (Fallout 4 did the same thing to even worse results.) So they went so far as to record four different performances for the PC: American male & female, and British male & female. I don't know how much this cost, but it had to be extravagant.

And Baldur's Gate III comes out in 2023, twelve years after DA made the fateful decision to commit to a voiced protagonist, and becomes one of the biggest RPGs of all time ... with an unvoiced protagonist.

It's even funnier when you consider that Dreadwolf is undoubtedly way too far in development to go back to an unvoiced protagonist with more dialogue choices. If this becomes a new trend, then Dreadwolf will be stuck looking antiquated, thanks to its stupid long development.

I see the bots are out in force. Comments filled with "omg, I hoped to see Tevinter but I never imagined I'd get to see Antiva, too!" style fluff.

There's next to nothing worthwhile in this trailer and frankly after the debacle that was DA2 and the wokefest that was DA3, it'll take some stonking reviews from people I trust (short list) to get me to pick this up. The older I get, the more I realise how valuable my time is and the less willing I am to compromise on crap. I'm not going to swallow some woke crap because they roll it in sugar.
I guess at least the graphics look good.
I don't know how you figure that. It's just slow moving aerial views and maps. Not a drop of gameplay in there that I noticed.

How in the fuck is that even possible. The combat was braindead enough that you need the hardest difficulty at level fucking 1 to even have a chance to die, much less when you find "barrier/armor" on hit effects.

They can keep the dialogue wheel if the choices are the same answer but with a different tone, like in ME: Andromeda.

Companies like Bioware and Square Enix still insisting though that RPGs are dead, that nobody wants RPGs like 20+ years ago, and that's why they need to keep making disastrous attempts at action games.
Until BG3, most people assumed DA:.0 style party RPGs were not worth the cost. Witcher III was as much an action game as an RPG.
Maybe with AI voice generation, they might be viable enough to risk again. Otherwise voicing all possible choices would be super expensive.

lol who even gives a shit about Tevinter or Antiva, when they're barely explored in lore and ingame?

Antiva's debatable, but they've been teasing Tevinter literally since the opening minutes of Origins.

yeah teased then never relevant for the rest of the game. From my hazy memories DA2 didn't even mention Tevinter and no idea about Cisquisition.

BG3 looks fun. Can you have the camera behind you ala Dragon Age or is like viewing from above?

Tevinter was not really important in DAO barring the Urn/Haven quest and overall lore stuff, and obviously the alienage with the slavers.
DA2: Fenris the fag Elf is an escaped slave and his sidequests involve some tevinter. Probably some more crap at random points.
In Twinkuisition one of the main quests you can do involves a Tevinter magister fucking with some mages, his son has mega-aids and some nonsense involving timetravel (I am not joking). Corypheus is a former tevinter magister and the Venatori I'm pretty sure are tevinter supremacists.

There's also a books series, but Idk I never read them:
https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Tevinter_Nights
(written by blue haired faggot & Dreadwolf's lead writer, Patrick Weekes)

I don't think it's a bad thing to explore the world outside of Ferelden and Orlais, a lot of stuff mentioned in codex entries in DAO would be nice to see explored, and honestly it would be the only reason I would consider playing Dreadwolf.

Love it or hate it the best part about BG3's success is knowing that Bioware devs are shitting their pants now that ten plus years of the "We simply CAN'T make a traditional RPG these days..." Narrative has totally fallen apart before their very eyes.
And Baldur's Gate III comes out in 2023, twelve years after DA made the fateful decision to commit to a voiced protagonist, and becomes one of the biggest RPGs of all time ... with an unvoiced protagonist.
Larian apparently wanted a fully voiced Tav, there's even remnants of this throughout the game, but they were smart enough to realize it would just make things worse.

It's not entirely true that they go totally voiceless though. The narrator does a lot of heavy lifting in dialogue.

I still remember faggots saying that the voiceless protagonist felt 'like a step back' back then, since it released shortly after Mass Effect. What an awful iteration that turned out to be.

I don't really know what they can salvage from dragon age. Everything after the first game shit up the series so badly there isn't really any going back.

I still remember the wtf moment in the second game when my faggot party member fucking randomly blew up a church because he felt retard wrangling was wrong. In a world where retards become literal fucking demons...

Never played the third but heard it went full lgbt porn parody. Unless they go back and recon it from dragon age one I think whatever this is,is doomed.

Inquisition was very much modern DnD faggot parade sim. Ride the Bull and be a faggot with your found family as the coolest best guy ever was the whole gimmick.

Somehow BG3 managed to be less gay and retarded AS a DnD property. This is just going to be the same flavor as every other western fantasy property to come out in the last ten years. It will have lots of neon colors, people will say 'fuck' a lot, you'll kiss faggots and the theme will be about a band of misanthropic douchebags becoming 'family'.

I'm opposite to you in that I skipped II (due to the awful non-tactical gameplay) but did play III. Your take is mostly accurate. You had a trans-identified female and a sulky lesbian elf. And a Qunari that I think would shag you whichever sex you were so long as he was the top. At least one of the party members was strictly hetero, though and would refuse advances if you weren't of the opposite sex.

It wasn't everywhere all of the time - mostly the game was just the game. But you couldn't entirely avoid it. Not as bad as Hogwarts Legacy and the way every character goes out of their way to tell you how awesome Sirona the trans-identifed male who runs the local pub is. All. The. Time.
