Should we still call it 'fail doxing', or do we need a new term for that too?

Rate me dumb, but I didn't even know the second definition for doxxing existed. I kind of always thought doxxing specifically referred to the crime, even way back in the early 2010s, whereas terms like archiving or reposting served the second purpose just fine. I guess that makes me lucky? Dunno.

I'll try to avoid using the second definition with doxxing regardless. Least I can do for what this site does to stay afloat.

Phonebooking is a bit of a mouthful when compared to the word doxing, but it still has a nice ring to it. 411 makes me feel like I am ordering something at a McD's.
Keep in mind that doxing is also used as dox. When I say someone is "phonebooking", then I would have his "phonebook" posted online. The same applies to the other suggested words. Give me my puzzle pieces now.
Edit: Saw someone proposing "documenting". This satisfies my above autism. You would be documenting an online trail and posting those documents online.

I'm for a wordfilter. Not because I want to be an obstinate cunt, but because I will have forgotten about this request in a week's time. Sorry.

I like “unmasking” because Liz Fong Jones and co use it as if what they do is any different from what we do.

This is the same level as YouTube self-censorship (unalive, sewerslide, corn, etc.). I’m sorry but I thought free speech was one of the foundations of this site.
I don't think retarded self-censorship allows people to point fingers and say that they're doing something bad. Using a term like "doxing" does though.

I thought I was the only one exasperated by this dangerous slippery slope.
We shouldn't abide to their attempt at confusing the mind.
Sunshining is deliciously euphemistic I'll use it.

I prefer "sunshining" because every other option might get its meaning corrupted by the journos again. They sound ominous, whereas I can't imagine an article seriously saying something like "Sunshining culture is on the rise, we must act now".
I think it's safer because it sounds silly and would be harder to label as something threatening. It's also easy to memorise and sounds decent.
