I watched Fred's first twitch stream when he had about 5 watchers and was just playing around with his hurdy-gurdy, talking about music and sharing a hobby he was passionate about. He was so shy and had a hard time speaking/lots of dead air. He probably views being able to do this V-tuber thing as a massive personal improvement, even when everyone else can see him skiing down the slippery slope.
People who get caught in this cycle have no social immunity. They had no friends before they were known online, and then they get this massive dopamine rush of people giving them attention, making art for them, praising them, giving them money, etc. The furries and trans especially show "affection" like this. People like Fred are so socially naive they take everyone at face value and can't fathom they're being manipulated. For them it's only: "My friends think this is cool and my friends wouldn't lie to me/let me make a fool out of myself/manipulate me into participating in their fetish."
And then the cycle perpetuates itself because they have no friends offline, so when they log off the depression of being a friendless loser virgin in the real world comes back hard.
Sorry the worst sort of people got to you this way, Fred.
