Hello everyone! I just spent the last five hours recording final narration for the new Down the Rabbit Hole. Right now, the narration for the first two hours and fifteen minutes has been recorded which will be debuted as a sneak-peek in Reykjavik. (We originally wanted to share the first three hours, but we faced a significant setback late in production that set us far behind) I and the team are scrambling to have things ready for our trip in the first week of May.

The focus of the video has changed significantly; rather than try to cover all of the early Nullsec wars, we're instead sharing the overall game building up to World War Bee and World War Bee 2 as a climax while focusing more on the experience of the game and some history of the company and its strained relationship with its playerbase. It's strange when the first two hours of the video feel like buildup; I'm afraid we might be blueballing the people at Fanfest just a bit, but the narrative of the video is much clearer and in line with the feel of Down the Rabbit Hole.

Once I leave Iceland, script work will continue, and I still plan to have this video completed this summer.

For reference, the game was released in 2003, and at about 2 hours and 15 minutes of runtime, we've made it to 2008. I believe that my five-hour estimate will prove to have been accurate.

Thank you all for being so patient with us as we enter the final leg of this marathon, and I'll be back with some photos of Reykjavik in early May!

-Fredrik

Fine, but there’s still a lot of autism going on.
I read a story once about something weird like this. It was a Sci-Fi novel about a couple of teenagers who had nothing better to do one summer than to kill the neighborhood boy named Harold. Along with everyone else in this Scottish town. The boys thought he was weird in his ways. A few times he was observed eating raw fish that he caught on his fishing rod. When he was young they all bothered him because he was as thin as a toothpick. And as he got older they laughed at him because he was fatter than a fridge.

One of the boys took a hammer to Harold's head. The claw of the hammer. And the other slashes his stomach open with a machete. Harold died from blows to the head. But it wasn't until that the machete slashed him open, the first time that the boys had ever seen him smile. At that instant, out of the flames of Hell, a large serpent like beast emerged from Harold's stomach and devoured both killers and proceeded to consume everyone else in the town that it set it sights upon. It wouldn't be satisfied until it ate every torso in the town.

Since no one has posted this yet I might as well

It's interesting how far Fred has come when he started 5 years ago
From his 20 minute doc on Digital Homicide to showing off the first half of a huge project at a con
I wonder what's next for him. An exclusive documentary on some streaming site? More voice acting roles? Who knows

Well Eve and its players are something very very special and only get a spotlight in non eve media if they blow up a couple of hundred thousand $s worth of digital ships.

I had to go and check when the Final Fantasy house video was uploaded, because it feels like I have been following him for way more that 4 years.
Spoony was my first of his videos, and even though he missed some things in that one, I feel like he needs to go back to it because a five hour video once every year is going to lead to significant drop off.

I liked the Wings video but I've never sat through it in one go ever.

So basically never. The pattern of schedule slip is old by now, we can expect him to lose or throw away the script when the next deadline is near

Hell if he wants go go this in-depth, I’d rather he release it in parts than as a single, 3-5 hour video.

Maybe he'll upload the part he showed in the con. Was there ever any interesting moment with Eve? It was always meme'd as spreadsheet simulator with the few notable moments being pretty much insurance frauds.

He said it'd be out in August but with how much work he needs to get done by that time, it's probably going to be delayed.

A documentary on EvE?

I was never autistic enough to join, but the stuff I've read over the years is fuckin' hilarious.

I was just thinking about Down the Rabbit Hole and how it's felt like forever since there was a new one and I checked Fred's Twitter to see what was up. I appreciate Fred's work ethic and commitment to accuracy, but this EVE documentary taking over a year and apparently getting delayed every month for the last few is just no good for anyone, most of all Fred himself. I really miss the more simple, focused and self contained documentaries like the ones on The Collyer brothers or Henry Darger that where of reasonable length. I'd settle for some side content that was lower effort even... I enjoyed The Warrens, even if Jabroni Mike is useless on his own he had good chemistry with Fred on weird topics.

Smaller doc that come out every 3-4 months is what I would personally like, and I can only hope Fred will not start another year and a half long project after the current EVE one.

That seems to be a common trapping of many content creators from what I've seen. They'll start out posting simple content on a regular basis, but then as the channel grows in popularity they start making longer, more high-effort videos that take longer to make. Their posting schedule slows down to the point that it becomes months or even a full year (or more) between uploads. It's always pretty disappointing to me when that happens imo. I don't doubt that the next doc will be good but will it be worth such a long wait?

Also, is it true that Fred became an owl V-Tuber on Twitch? I heard somebody mention that in another thread and didn't believe it.

It is. I've seen him do streams alongside most of the Vinesauce-adjacent folk such as Mike, Limes, and Rev.

Certainly not the worst V-tuber I've seen, anyway. But also not the best.

I just never understood the perfectionism. Like just being a lazy ass is fine, but some of those people will waste months fine tuning a video that nobody will try to fact check and most won't even look at the screen during its entire duration.
