I saw Crematomania get posted on DW, all the attention the ToD forum gave it, plus DW’s positive reception. And so I realized you guys didn’t disconnect enough fully from that side of things. There’s still too much community cross contamination, so eventually DW’s pull would cause gay mod shit.
Interesting, i don't think i left back in April, if i did, the account deletion would have happened then. I was just disappointed and had a moment of doubt, which now, is finally justified. Me complaining about the state of the forum, "without talking to him first" is more of a "depends on how you look at it" situation. What was there to talk about? He let DoomGuy999 in during his worst spamming spree and was about to give him a chance. I didn't have to say anything, he knew that all of us, not just me, are against this. My stand on wastes of space like Gehenna and his alts, Noisy Velvet and Xeep Eep was more than clear, going back to my Doomer Boards days. What am i supposed to do? Drop on my knees and beg him to put them in line? Especially during a time when he showed no interest in having a serious forum, without such lunatic spergs. Doesn't matter though, we'll see if he'll deal with their schizo posting now, in his new reformed forum.
Yup, i agreed with it, but somewhere along the line our ideas of what a productive forum is, seem to diverge. All i care about is having a Doom forum free of spam and politics, not free of fun, where if you talk a little bit more about DW's latest fuck up and bad trends, it is seen as "obsession" or "wanting to transform the place into a KF satellite". He's not 40oz 2.0, but his idea model will turn ToD into Doomer Boards 2.0, where the only activity happens when there's a project in development, while the rest of the forum is dead. Doomworld is the biggest, most active side in the community and therefore, it provides the most topics of discussion... and the most interesting ones as well. What else is there to talk about when we have nothing going on? The mechanics of a 33-year-old game? While we're at it, why don't we make a "Things about Doom you just found out about" thread... boy, that sure will get the masses to register...
Just let the people have their fun, and quit nagging them for bashing DW. Fun is what they come to your platform for. We can ban the slur usage, and that's perfectly fine, but don't ask people to stop talking about the stuff they're interested and entertained by. If your idea of a "serious forum" is for everyone to act like 80-year-old people in a retirement home, yeah, we are in a disagreement there, buddy.
I'll never understand why stodgy had to give an obvious retard like DG999 a chance when we all know that he'll spam the forum with bullshit like what he did in DBP forums. Is it pity? For pointless engagement? Anyone with a brain knows you never give second chances to "eternal fuck-ups with the uncanny ability to annoy everyone" like DG999. In terms of ToD projects, is it me or the major projects being released are just slow as fuck? There's CCP on moddb so far but other than that? Na-da.
Also, a serious forum doesn't have a thread about some notable forum member who shaves his asshole.
Hey Zacharin X. I was sorta taken aback finding out you had deleted your account at Time Of Doom. I feel you had a good thing going on there, and I liked reading you your CPH posts. Thought you finally had some momentum going, having found your own spot in the community were you would feel comfortable and grow further, instead of being relegated to the niche outskirts of Kiwifarms.
ToD has only a fraction of the membership of Doomerboards wich in turn is only a fraction of what Troonworld is in size. It's kind of silly to see that a forum that has barely 30 active members still ends up in pointless infighting. It doesn't really help the forum itself or its future growth. For a forum and community this small I wouldn't really have given a shit about what Stodgy Ayatollah has to say or think, or that he didn't mention you being part of the "club". The forum is basically still inside its mothers asshole, what club are we even talking about lol? It's not like it has 10k members. In such a small space everyone is bound to interact and cooperate with one another in some way. Just trying to understand here, was this all really not something you could've talked it out with him by a DM? Atleast thats the perception I get from the private message you shared.
At the end of the day its your decision obviously, and you're not bound by any space, it's the internet after all. And I'm not defending ToD either, just to be clear. I just wished there was more cohesion and direction in the alternative sides of the Doom community beside Troonworld, instead of everything selfdestructing constantly due to infighting.
@That Doom-Bitch Asha It all really boils down to respect. Being part of a Kull Kidz Klub has nothing to do with it. I can't respect someone who acts one way in my face, and then goes and throws me under the bus. And not just me but other users I like. Sure I could've send him a message, he would've lied and made some excuses probably (why should I expect anything else from him at this point), and I'll have to lie back to him that it's all water under the bridge, and I'll work on his project. Like I said, I tried to put it behind, even started a map for AA, but it didn't work. I have no desire to contribute anything to that forum anymore. It was fun while I thought we were building something there.
I like reading your posts a lot Tangra, so I'd like to see you describe what has exactly caused you to leave the previous three forums (ZDoom, Doomworld and Doomer Boards). You don't have to if you are not interested but I would like to see what led you to leave the community as a whole.
Though I wished things turned out differently and you had stayed (there's alot of users who were confused when they later found out you were suddenly gone and who got somewhat used to having you around, maybe even saw you as a friend).
It's okay if you don't wish to return and you've stated your differences with the Admin. Just know there's lot of users there who still appreciated what you did there and contributed. That's why, I hope not everything is colored in the same light from this experience, moving forward.

Can anyone here humor me why everyone suddenly turned on Tangra as the supposed "hypocrite" and "troublemaker" for bringing this stuff here, when it's the stodgy who was caught gossiping? In direct messages and very unfavorable light, mind you, not the public forum. Those same people are now showing him grace by targeting Tangra as a scapegoat. I'm not taking this question there under my real name, I'd rather not be targeted by a mob.
If it were up to me, I would've relieved my admin rights already. There are limits to goodwill gestures, when you promise a "hands-off, self-moderated approach" and then instantly do a 180 in such a way. Guess Time of Doom users have much to lose and would prefer any admin to no admin. The same crap as with politicians.

They are free to make up their own minds. I don't know what is happening behind the scenes, there could be some badmouthing going on, but i don't care. At the end of the day, no matter how bad they think i am, i'm not the admin who divided the forum into groups of people who are "special and valuable" and others who are "retarded and don't belong there". I might've had a negative opinion on a few users there, but i was never the guy with the power to dictate the direction of the forum.
Take Tainted Slav for example. He got mad that i called him an imbecile yesterday, on KF (because he's banned here and can't reply to me), but he did the same thing. He made an assumption about me making alt accounts on DB and spilling leftist rhetoric, when i already had my ToD account nuked and i couldn't reply to him. What was he thinking? Does he expect me to register again to specifically disprove his dumb suspicion, when anyone who is aware what i'm all about, knows that i'll never do something this stupid. Especially after i'm already openly talking about the drama from my own account here and i can't stand Doomer Boards and 40oz's preachings.
But honestly, i didn't insult him just because he made some stupid claim, i did it because, trugh be told, i never liked the guy, and it's time for him to get the idea. He's Kontra-lite and his deranged sperg-a-thons are too much, even for me. I wish he got the memo when he wrote me a full length autobiography on Doomer Boards, dumping his emotional baggage in a DM after his KF ban, only for me to ignore him for weeks... actually, i don't remember if i ever replied to the message, probably not. I'm not sure, it was more than a year ago.
Now he's under the assumption that we were great buddies this whole time (and now i'm backstabbing him), just because i liked the forum banner he made and because we talked few times about a suggestion for CPH that he made. Every interaction i ever had with this guy, was him DM-ing me, looking for my approval. So if someone feels that i was unfair to him, i have no problem with that. The fact remains that i wans't the admin of the forum, because if i was, i would have put him in line immediately. I could still give him a friendly advice that will help him in the future... He needs to apply himself, because if he thinks this latest disaster of a sperglord thread he made on ToD will make Stodgy like him, he has no idea how wrong he is. He makes good art, and he's a good mapper as well, he should put his efforts towards these fields and stop with the deranged posts. There are ways to be critical of Doomworld, without making every corner of the doom community cringe, including the people on your side. Until he figures that out, he should focus on the stuff he's good at. I know it, because i have been in a similar position like him before.
There will be more CPH. I don't know if it will be okay to post them in this thread in the same way i did on ToD, but i'll give it a try. I only see this as a temporary change, as i'll look for ways to move the CPH write-ups into their own dedicated space, whether if it's some kind of review blog or a new forum, i can't tell you right now. I'm a bit overwhelmed with stuff at the moment, and my main focus is on completing my maps.
I registered on ZDoom when i started mapping. Doomkid's youtube content became my inspiration to pick up the editor towards the end of 2022, but there wasn't enough tutorials to get me started there. I made a simple search on youtube, and ended up on some tutorial channel that i don't remember now. It was a mistake, because the guy was making UDMF tutorials and he also had a small discord server, where i joined to ask him questions directly. Unfortunately, i caught him at a bad time, when he was burnt out and was no longer enthusiastic about making new tutorials or helping newbies on his discord. He did fuck me up by saying UDMF is the "go-to format mapping" and he also directed me to ZDoom, as the "best place to get started". I was completely clueless about mapping formats and compatibility, so i followed his advice and made my account there. The first thing that made a bad impression on me, was how messy the forum was. It was a nightmare to navigate, i couldn't find a specific thread for beginner help, so i made my own thread on some workshop subforum or something. My first two maps were uploaded in that same thread, which sadly no longer exist for some reason. I can find it on google, but i can't open it.
I left the forum, because the place was dead. The discussion was slow, and i had many questions that will remain unanswered for days at a time. I also didn't get proper feedback on my maps - no criticism, no suggestions, nothing. The maps were shit, of course, but i had no way of knowing it at the time. There was one guy there, Knifeworld, who kept shilling for the UDMF format like it's the best thing since sliced bread, while saying my maps are "not his cup of tea", without pointing out what issues were. By the way, Knifeworld is now "Saige" on Doomworld, and he goes by she/her.
After that i moved to Jimmy Paddock's discord server, because that one got recommended to me on Twitch, as a great place to learn. Indeed, i did get some help there, but the place was a mess. I'm old fashioned and i prefer reading and making longer forum posts. For that reason i hate big discord servers, where it's non-stop flood of off-topic nonsense, and if you're afk for a day or too, it's so hard to catch up with the discussions. Doomworld was recommended to me there, but i somehow ended up on Doomer Boards first. I don't remember how i found it, but i think i wanted to share my maps there first, to get some feedback, because once you upload your stuff on DW, it's for the entire community to see... or so i thought. I didn't post anything on DB, because i was told (i think by 40oz) the forum focuses on vanilla/limit-removing maps and i won't get much help as a UDMF mapper, so i stopped posting there for almost a year and moved to DW.
My growing dislike of Doomworld is well summed up in my reply to Doomkid on the DoD Sunlust video:
I tried to fit in at first, but i slowly realized that the overall atmosphere on DW is not for me. The cult for the moderators became obvious by how everyone was sucking up to them, agreeing to their worst takes or jumping on everyone who may have a different take. Then came the RMG ban due to bad, uneven moderation and favoritism. Another thing i disagreed with was overwhelming positive attention Dr. Sleep's bastard son got, when he used his dead father's name to get people to praise him and play his shit. And of course, the snowflake mob come after me and i got a warning point. Sure, warning points mean nothing, but they told me one thing... that Doomworld is a boring shithole, where you can't even make a harmless joke about a ridiculous fan theory. Look at that shit:
Then of course came the Cancel Carmack thread, and at this point, i was one foot out the door. The thread was posted a lot earlier, but i happened to notice it months later, which is why i could never reply to it, after it got locked just when people were starting to defend Carmack. At this point, i said fuck it, i'm just going to be myself, even if it gets me banned. Soon followed my first suspension. I got banned for two weeks for commenting on this thread. Oh boy, the content of this post really rubbed their ego where it hurts the most:
I made sure to name Carmack first in the list of great minds. It was around that time i made my KF account too, as i was sick of DW and was looking for a place that shares my distaste for the forum.
My second ban came at the 2023 Cacowards. A bunch of people started asking why DBP59: Zeppelin Armada was not nominated, and then Scubba Steve dropped his infamous "Doomworld is not a democracy" post, to which i replied that the Cacowards are nothing short of an ass kissing circle, and the DBPs will never win one unless they drop on their knees. I'm actually shocked i didn't get perma-banned for this. The comment got deleted though. It was funny, because Scuba Steve replied to me, by quoting my entire posts, so Obsidian had to delete Steve's post as well, just to hide mine completely. I guess it was too real.
I think they regretted not banning me for good for my cacoward comments, because my final and full-time ban came a few months later and it was over nothing, after the following comment that had nothing offensive or extreme about it. It was in response to a major retard, aka Johnny Cruelty, aka Grungo, telling him, in the nicest way possible, to tone down his retardation:

After that i became a DB regular, during the time 40oz was on a depression fueled hiatus. The forum was awesome to be a part of, without that cunt's preachings and his Doomworld self-humiliation rituals. Once he came back it was a slow descend. At some point i had respect for the guy, based on old posts where he would stand up for his community and bash Doomworld. After all, he got banned from DW because he refused to ban people from his forum, right? I thought that was great thing to do as an admin, but at the time i had no idea he was such a snowflake cuck, despite being warned by a few people here. Once he came back he quickly showed his worst side, and i was never able to reach an understanding with him. He would always play on the opposite side to everything i post, and i can't help but think that some of it was on purpose... like even if he agrees with me on something, he'd still going to counter me just to spite me. Add the fact that he never takes any suggestions for the improvement of the forum, and does stupid shit that he knows will piss off his entire user base. Like letting DoomGuy999's spamathon's go unpunished for so long, or allowing that hack Hakros to shit up the forum with his questionable software. The last straw was making Kontra Kommando admin, when the same guy wanted to nuke the forum a year earlier, and was throwing tantrums about 40oz not giving him moderation rights. No one wanted Kontra as admin, 40oz knew that and still made him one without telling anyone. This is where i left. At this point most of my comments will get deleted or sent to Dumbworld, and i was sick of it. I wasn't banned or anyting like that, but i promised 40oz never to post on his forum again, and i kept my promise.

It's very hard to navigate. I tried it before and it was a nightmare. The forum UI is too busy and has worthless shit nobody cares on it. That's one of the main reasons why I refuse to use it, besides Marisa incident that killed any further interest in the forum for me plus dead air, of course.
Punishing you for not doing stuff on the forum you run and not them, is the most retarded thing I've seen in a long time. But hey, I guess 40oz kept his promise, since he hesitated to ban spammers in his forum now if you think about it. LOL
Thank you for the big post and explanation. Love reading your takes on things. This also has put the community into a whole new perspective for me. It's like a huge dysfunctional family that refuses to help itself. Stabbing each other in the back, trauma-dumping, suicide baiting and whatnot. It's just disgusting.
Out of all these places, Doomworld, Jimmy's discord server and Dragonfly's were the only places I got some help with mapping back in the day. Rest of them are ghost town or they literally ghost you because you are a nobody.
It baffles me that such a game series viewed as manly and badass, has thin-skinned, female-coded cucks, who refuse to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and change for the better. It's definitely depression and laziness and abandoned projects are a perfect sign for that, even KKKlub are guilty of that.
Just above this comment, Tangra mentions all the gripes he has about Troonworld point by point to Doomkid. This person felt compelled enough to react as a result, so it's most likely someone that's mentioned in that list above.

If you're skilled and play your cards right, you don't need a forum. There's Youtube, theres ModdB. Hell, you can even create your own website or at the very least use social media. Take Sgt Mark for example, do you think he gives a flying fuck about Troonworld, or that he needs it to promote his shit? Especially nowadays? Hell no, the guy has an audience larger then those useless cunts can dream of, and people will find his stuff regardless.
Same for the guy who made the Doom horror mod/tc Total Chaos, the guy went on to create and release his games on steam. These guyes know their skills and worth, they don't need a retarded trooned out forum. Instead, people chase their content wherever they happen to fart.
