My only problem with the game so far is that I keep getting stuck on shit while I'm trying to maneuver away from death. I died like four times in the exact same spot during the double Doom Hunter fight because I got stuck on a damn pillar, I had to mentally force myself to stay out of that area and I won that very next time.

You guys seem a lot picker than I am, which is surprising.

I wanted to buy a Switch and try Doom 2016 (2017 for Switch) but every store in this state is out. No DOOMING for me this quarantine.

Goddamn the Marauder fight is so unfun. I turned the difficulty down from ultra violence to the easiest one just so the fight would end and I could go back to enjoying the game. I hope that fucking dog of his feels pain every second of its miserable existence.

By far my least favorite enemy in the game, there are two things that always ruin games for me: shif that slows you down or hinder your movement (like the fucking purple shit that they just love sprinkling around) and turtling fucks like the Maurader. 99% of my deaths were from some random imp fucker tapping me on the shoulder rather than tall, dark, and gay himself.

I'll take my mad ratings now, thank you.

The problem with the Marauder fights is that they force you to slow down and pay close attention to what he's doing in a game that punishes you for standing around too much. You have to wait for him to flash green before you can strike him, which feels so counter-intuitive, especially considering none of the other enemies require waiting or slowing down. Meanwhile you have random enemies chucking shit at you or running up and clawing you while you wait for the Marauder to attack.

The best thing to do is kill everything else and leave the Marauder for last. At least then you won't take unnecessary damage trying to wait him out.

What's your GPU? I have an I5-9600k and the game automatically set itself to high/ultra graphics and I haven't experienced any technical hiccups. I do have an RTX 2060 Super and 16 gigs of RAM. Everything's been running well on my end.

I’ve got a 2080 super, which should be able to do 120 consistently. I put on the performance metrics and it showed the cpu cores periodically maxing out. Mind you, the game still runs well, but the frame rate fluctuates a bit between as low as 90 and as high as 140.

While I have problems with the overall cartoonishness of the story, these kind of details are good and funny and I appreciate them.

If only it had the portrait of Doomguy with his bunny Daisy hanging on a wall...

This is in the game, it's in the home base ship.

My last death in this happened because I tried to switch to my shotgun to stagger a fodder enemy for a glory kill because I was low on health. My shotgun was out of ammo so the game helpfully switched me to the rocket launcher, which I shot at the zombie point blank and killed myself. Can we get Doomguy a bandolier or something?!

I got really excited during the flashback when Doomguy is brought to the Sentinels for the first time, muttering more lines from the Doom comic. I'm pretty sure that comic is canon at this point. It was also surreal to hear him say anything given that no incarnation of the character spoke a word in the previous games. It was pretty neat. I especially love the codex entry that states that after he became the Slayer he stopped speaking completely for reasons unknown.

Ah, see I'm targeting 60 fps. Didn't even think about higher framerates.
