In my opinion, it is slighty better than the USA, but I never lived in the most desolate places and always in french regions.

Firstly, Québec has its own local traditionnal cheeses and Québec cheese curds are also the best I ever tasted. It is why poutine outside of the province is absolutely dogshit. However, said cheeses are way more expensive outside of Québec. Secondly, every small town has in a at last 25 minutes drive radius a supermarket cooking real bread, that still is pretty sad even if it is way better than a wonder bread loaf. In french Canada (at least in Québec and New-Brunswick), a lot of small and medium size town have a local bakery, because a lot of european Frenchs had move here and open bakeries or show local how to operate one. Finally, as for meat, if I'm not mistaking, nobody stopping you to kill your own animals with your own hands and selling its flesh yourself. Growing up, I killed and plucked some chicken, that my familly sold to neighborhood. but I am vegeterian now and know little on the matter.
