Depends if they live in the same district they deliver in? If yes, I guess it also depends if they have to pass by own house anyway. I mean, when it's far away, why not just take it home after their shift and that technically isn't a delivery.
I asked a USPS guy this back in the day. In major areas they try and not to assign you the same neighborhood as yours due to conflict of interest. Rural carriers that’s not realistic so yeah.
