I had some LED Christmas lights and I didn't like the atmosphere so I switched back to incandescent fairy lights, much cozier.
*Bump*
I've decorated 2 Christmas trees this year for Halloween. The ones on the floor are LED, almost too bright to look at, possibly because my eyes are pale. I've made it work by using a single 150 bulb strand over a 7ft tree and tucked some of it behind some tinsel. For my smaller 5ft tree I've used some incandescent lights that were my grandmother's and I really like the softness.

While there are some applications that incandescent still shine in, they're flawed in principle. They put off so much waste heat that they can't really be justified in the basic scenario of providing most of the light in a building. LEDS don't fill in all the niches that they're useful in but unless you're buying the bottom of the barrel dollar store bulbs they're going to generally perform better and for a lot less energy cost. I'll say there really needs to be a push in making the average color temperature of LED bulbs way nearer what incandescent generally put out. When I say I like LEDS I don't mean the searing white that became popular. Car headlights are especially notorious for this. The HZ of LEDs need to be majorly increased across the board, too, but I can't see manufacturers going for it.

If you think you've got problems with LED bulbs you're buying from shitty companies and you're buying shoddy bulbs, is what I'm really saying. There's plenty of good ones, but the prices really get up there if you're looking for longevity and less of the uncanny valley.

I really miss incandescent. I appreciate the LED as far as energy efficiency and wide variety of applications, but imo they are just too prevalant now. Little blue searing LEDs in everything- the on switch for my lamp, power strip, clock, etc I have to tape over and unplug things just to get the room dark. LEDs hit my eyes like lasers at the right angle and I feel like it is damaging them (especially those fucking headlights). The crazy bright LEDs are infiltrating my neighborhood....porchlights look like football stadium lights now and there is so much light pollution and pain in my eyes when trying to take an evening walk Ive literally worn sunglasses to mitigate the searing white lights in my eyes before trying to go to bed. I really, really hate those LED lights installed in houses and apartments that have no actual bulbs- just a panel of diodes covered in plastic. They do fail much quicker than they are supposed to because they dont vent and the heat from the panel does build up and shorten the lifespan of the LED. Instead of a new bulb now you have to literally remove the whole fixture and install a new one (I used to work selling these to people remodelling their house and they just suck so bad for about half the people that buy them, plus they are ugly af). I miss the soft amber glow of night time. I miss the cozy yellowish light of headlights from pre 2010 or so. Newer cars also have the diode panel in the headlights so if they go out (and they will) you must replace the entire headlight housing. I hate that shit. I feel like I cant find LED bulbs that put off a good light color. Either crazy bright white/blue that hurts, or it's wayy to yellow somehow. Its like the kelvin rating doesnt actually mean anything anymore because I used to just get 'daylight' incandescent lightbulbs (5000k or 4000k idr) and it was always perfect, trying the same with LEDs feels like color rating went the way of womens clothing sizes where nothing is consistent and it doesnt make sense. All this said, I still use LED bulbs in my house because they do last and are efficient. My new LED desk lamp (no bulb just LED strip) can only be plugged into one specific outlet in my room otherwise I can see the fast flicker they put off. I dont get it. I really miss normal lightbulbs.

The problem lies mostly not with the LEDs themselves but the fact that the cheapest to manufacture LEDs are used in every single possible scenario. The ones used in the Christmas light bundles aren't the best for the niche, but they are the easiest for Chink manufacturers to slap together.

LED lights are great. They don’t randomly explode leaving me searching for a replacement at the worst possible moment. They consume a fraction of electricity and produce less heat as a result.

Color is always a problem, but I found a way around this with RGB bulbs that can be dimmed to produce whatever color and brightness I want.

Depends.

If they are christmas decoratuons or stagelights. They shuld be Led.

For home and street lamps i much more prefer incandecent.

Cheapshit LED drivers function at the same frequency as the mains, so 50 or 60Hz. Some people are sensitive to that. And even if you don't see it outright, they can still sometimes cause headaches or eye strain.

You can get the same effect in incandescents if they're dimmed way down, think movie theater sconces (at least I can see it if it's on the edge of my vision), but at normal brightness they burn hot enough that they don't dim noticeably between cycles.

The problem isn't so much the frequency, but that most chinkbulbs seem to drive the LED's by taking the AC input and going directly into some sort of pulsed DC, rather than add in capacitors to ensure a continuous flow of current to avoid flickering, because "well most people won't notice."

Why would a LED have a hertz?
Because LED lights work by pulsing the diode on and off. The same way your computer screen works. You can see this effect if you take video at just the right framerate on a camera with LED lights turned on in the room, the shit turns into a flickering mess.

Theres some theories around that this flickering, even if your eye "can't see it", causes eyestrain.

I prefer incandescents. I find the light from LEDs hurts my eyes after a while. I really fucking hate those stupid decorative bulb LEDs. The light from them is always dim as fuck and they seem pointless. I have to say though some of the newer high quality LEDs have a yellowy light that's not too bad. I don't know if maybe the lenses are getting better but I find they don't strain my eyes as much.

Also, white or blue led headlights should be illegal. I hate them so fucking much. Even on low they're blinding. They're worse than older headlights with the high beams on. They're fucking awful. I hate driving at night passing by fuckers with those lights or when someone with those lights is tailgating at night. The yellow LEDs aren't so bad. But the fucking white and blue ones can get fucked.

Oh it gets worse. The BMWs with those fucking abominations where they have a fucking laser that's used to excite a phosphor diode, which then throws off "fuck other drivers, they don't need to see ever again" levels of brightness.
