Why would I need anyone's approval of whether I "deserve" to live? That would be cucked on an existential level. I'm the only judge of that. If anyone thinks differently I guess they'll just have to try and kill me lmao.

The staggering amount of resources were spent by other people as a part of their responsibility for the life they created, as for being deserving of life itself, all life deserves to live even when it's ended, for whatever reason, except for selfishly ending your own. Wasting all the resources your family put into your life and leaving them all more damaged for the loss and confusion afterwards.
