Do you believe in physiognomy?

Physiognomy is the belief that you can know every significant thing about a person's personality / nature / actions from their appearance (especially the face) and body language. In modern times it's considered ascientific (yeah no shit) but it's been revived by terminally online people as an insult. So now instead of pointing out someone's flaw and saying they just look like shit, you say they have "peasant physiognomy" or "slave physiognomy" or some shit.

I thought physiognomy was bullshit at first but one of the idubbz segments on MATI kinda changed my mind. Null pointed out that idubbz used to look normal and decent but nowadays he looks fucking weird, like an Easter Island head 🗿 He has these squinty beady little eyes and his skin is all shitty too. Is this our proof that physiognomy is real?

I mean I don't it's applicable in every situation, but it's a safe thing to base assumptions off of until you're proven wrong, just like racial stereotypes.

People assume I'm one way, when I'm not that way all the time. It's fake. People's assumptions of others come from culture, culture conditions people to have expectations taken from aesthetics. The aesthetics themselves have no natural automatic conclusions about personality.

In art sometimes anthropomorphism is used to add to characterisation, like how Princess Caroline is a cat that always lands on her feet in the show Bojack Housman. Or how Bojack is very sensitive, like a horse, but is also an ass, also like a horse. Physiognomy predicts that it works both ways, not only in the characterisations valid in art, but that people fulfill their personality based on their appearance, and that appearance then is not so subjective. The predictions are always false or wildly inaccurate because the person interpreting the aesthetics applies their own culture as to what the face shape should mean, and in doing that injects subjectivity and inaccuracy.

idubbz just looks sickly. He does look fucked up, but that doesn't describe or accurately predict his personality. It only predicts that he's sickly and he is. Cus you can see it on his face; probably whole bady. It came out on H3 that he has tonsil stones because he doesn't brush his teeth and he smells bad. It has to be a level of hell having IBS and living with an insane women.

The only limitation to this is race, but races don't look all exactly alike, there is individual variation. All Italians at their core are greasy car salesmen.

In my experience race is a better prediction than looks alone. Also people allways assume I'm way different than I am, so people's eathetic assumptions of personality are inaccurate. (of course I can't give a concreate example of this, but it's happened a lot to me)

You can understand a lot by just looking at some one. remeber a study someone made that in the conversation we will only get 40% of all of the information through speech. the rest comes from visual cues and voice intonations

It's 100% real.

In the scientific journals, we're working with averages and correlations. i.e People high in trait x are more likely to have feature y and so on. It's not x means y.

At the subconscious pattern recognition level though, humans are highly attuned to physiognomical realities. Let me give you the simplest example. A white thug gets on the bus and sits right opposite you. He's wearing a suit because he's on his way to court and has no visible tattoos but you instantly clock him as a threat (if you don't then you're a retard). Maybe it's his neck, his eyes, his nose - science hasn't yet given us the full picture yet (because research in this area taboo) but your brain has done the work in a fraction of a second.

Question is, how accurately could you tell that from static images, as opposed to a real person with all their patterns of movement and facial expressions (or lack thereof). Also a lot of people would look vastly different, if they weren't drug addicts and alcoholics. Many thugs are on meth, and it shows on the outside for sure.

But I've noticed that a lot of people on local mugshots have some assymetry to their faces, like eyes in uneven height. A lot of severe strabism and jug ears, too, but that could be because those are mostly gypsies and apart from the general genetic degeneracy, they or their parents never bothered with any corrective therapy.

Every single thing? No you can’t. Buuuut…
There are a lot of pedos that have that look. You just know they are pedos.
Yeah there are. And you read these threads where it’s ‘LGBTQ pastor fiddles kids…’ and there’s a picture and you just see the same face again and again.
Ditto troons, pervs and bad weirdos in general. They have ‘a look’ about them.
The question for me is how much can you correlate and how accurate is it? There was an AI which could pick out homosexuals with a really high success rate and I’ve joked on here multiple times that if I had similar and I could train it in the KF mugshot database I could build you a nonce detector.
There’s also the difference between a physical face and body language and expressions. Humans are capable of picking up micro expressions. We are very, very good at it. I like to do it in zoom meetings, which is an amazing forum where nobody guards their facial expressions so it’s fantastic to watch. You absolutely can tell intent from body language and expression. The FBI and various intel agencies cultivate these people who have this ability at high strength, but all of us have it to some degree. We are programmed and hardwired to read these signals.
As for the physical face / body, which is what id say was physiognomy. The face underlies the brain and it develops along with it. You can feed a mugshot of a funny looking kid into something like face2gene and it’ll spit out a few guesses in what syndrome that kid has. Old school geneticists do it manually.
So yes. There is something to it, it’s not a 100% readout if your entire life but once you’ve seen theory or so smirking youth pastor / gay adopter nonces you become remarkably adept at seeing them

I feel like I've always been better at this stuff than most people. When I watch big streamers sometimes my brain just automatically goes, that guy's a sociopath. Humans are for the most part really easy to stereotype, it's like an RPG, there are only a dozen or two different types of person
