Porky's, with it's infamous shower scene with a group of full frontal nude girls, would probably get an NC-17 rating today.

Even for it's day Porky's was pretty edgy and envelope pushing, while there's a few movies with similar scenes most comedies of the era like Animal House and Caddyshack were content with just topless nudity, not full frontal.

So you can imagine how Porky's would go over today, I'm being quite serious when I say the shower scene would net it an NC-17 rating even though it's just nudity, not graphic sex scenes.

What's weird is the MPAA started to really crack down on film content long before SJWs came along, ever seen the 2006 documentary This Film Is Not Yet Rated? It details how ridiculous the MPAA is and how they act like a censorship by proxy board unconstitutionally, eerily anticipating today's social media controversies.

Sad irony is that movie was made by a group of LA liberals who were enthusiastically pro free speech then but probably aren't anymore.

Anyway, the scene in Arachnophobia features a girl taking a shower while a spider crawls around, there's no nudity beyond some sideboob.

On a side note, Arachnophobia is a way underrated movie, love that film.
In this day and age, I'd be amazed if they even let Porky's into the MPAA rating's boardroom with what it was able to get away with back then.

It could be interesting to see how the Peggy Charren descendants would react now then NBC showed violent news reports instead of cartoons on Saturday morning or we could ask if you're against sexy scenes in cartoons, what do you think of inclusion of LGBT characters? I have a feeling then there might be double standards.

Well, if you ask John K., it was the dykes running the network who wouldn't let him draw sexy girls...

But I remember back in the day homosexuality was taboo, period. Even implying it in an episode got that episode banned. Today, of course, most of these shows just go with "Sometimes men are in love with men" and that, by me, is fine.

Was it documented that women/lesbians ran the networks back then?

It's like the Hays Code might as well come back. These people are asking for it!

Really is, I loved it on the big screen when it came out!

Fellow scumbags, does anyone of you know if Talespin is available on any streaming service?

Exclusive: Disney Developing Live-Action ’Hercules’ Film With Some Possible Big Name Directors in The Mix
DISNEY LIVE-ACTION
By Skyler Shuler Last updated Apr 30, 2020

Walt Disney Studios has found its next live-action remake of one of their animated films with Hercules; we have exclusively learned.

The studio has tapped Jeffery Silver (The Lion King, Tron: Legacy) and Karen Gilchrist (The Lion King, The Mandalorian) to produce. The film is expected to be a theatrical release, not a Disney+ original like Lady and the Tramp, as well as Robin Hood and Lilo & Stitch both in pre-production. The film is expected to feature songs from the original animated film, with new ones likely being added.

Another huge thing I want to add to this piece are three directors that I’ve heard from pretty reliable sources that the studio is interested in to direct the project. Let me start off by saying these are just names I’ve heard and are by no means in any formal discussions.

The first name I’ve heard most recently from two different sources is Jon Favreau, Favreau has directed two of Disney’s most successful live-action remakes in 2016’s The Jungle Book and 2019’s The Lion King, which would re-team him with both Silver and Gilchrist.

The second name I heard maybe a year ago was Joe and Anthony Russo a.k.a the Russo Brothers, who directed four of the most highly-praised Marvel films of all-time Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and the highest-grossing movie of all-time, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. I’ve also heard they are both big fans of the animated film.

The last name I heard but have the least faith in, in terms of who I heard it from is Gore Verbinski, who directed and kicked off one of Disney’s most successful franchises ever, with the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. Verbinski also directed 2013’s The Lone Ranger, which was also expected to kick off its own franchise. Sadly, the film flopped, and those plans were quickly scrapped, though the film has been met with a cult following in recent years.

I’d like to finish up by reiterating that these are just names I’ve heard, and none of these directors are in talks or are officially being looked at by the studio.

Once a director is tapped, the studio will begin the search for their lead stars. Despite the current Hollywood shut down due to the coronavirus, it is expected the studio will meet with writers/directors/actors via Zoom.

Released in 1997 by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Hercules (Tate Donovan), follows a son of gods, who was snatched as a baby by Hades (James Woods) and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. With his plucky satyr sidekick, Philoctetes (Danny DeVito), along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to defeat a series of evil creatures.

I don't know how to feel about this. Say whatever you want about Hercules and how Disney's heavily watered down the original Greek mythos of the titular hero, but I'll always have fond memories of it. My parents and I attended the movie's world premiere in New York City, took lots of photos of the event, watched the Electric Parade, ate Greek cuisine and played games at the post-screening party, and got several souvenirs, including a promotional T-shirt. Here's a fairly old article about it, plus a stock photo of the parade below.

There's a slim chance this live-action remake could be decent or even good on its own merits, but it's more than likely it'll be yet another one of Disney's creatively bankrupt decisions and an insult to the original animated version.

I dunno, a big part of the movie's charm was the character designs, which are wholly unique by Disney standards. You can't emulate that in live-action.

That and it's gonna suffer without James Woods' Hades big time.

Fuck these live-action remakes. Hercules was far from being a good sword and sandals film or a remotely faithful adaptation of the adventures of Hercules, but it was a pretty damn good parody of the mythos without being degrading while also having some amusing and memorable twists. There's still an interest in it thanks to nostalgia shit, James Woods' love of the flame-headed depiction of Hades and shit like Kingdom Hearts keeping its memory alive, so if they want to take advantage of that interest they should make an animated sequel, midquel or series parodying his 12 labors or his stint with the argonauts into a more light-hearted tale with no social commentary and the original style of the film. Its important to preserve that visual style since, regardless of the film's flaws, its unique visuals and character designs really stand out, even to this day. If you make it live-action you just take away a part of what made the original likeable. But in the end none of this matters. It will probably just be another attempt at pandering to China and the Disney executives who think they know what audiences want.

Brace for black sassy Megara. Either that or they make Hercules gay.

The execs sang "One Last Hope" as they announced this, didn't they?

Tate Donovan, Susan Egan, James Woods, and Danny DeVito fucking made that film. And the Muses.

I can see Megan Fox playing Meg though, especially since she proved she can do sarcastic witty shit like in Jennifer's Body.

I've seen people 0pushing for Ariana Grande but....why?

And what black gospel singers will they choose for the Muses?

Fucking christ, what if they take the opportunity to shit all over James Woods while they're at it because he committed the wrongthink. Who am I kidding, they've been treating the live action remakes as the Approved Versions to correct things that no longer fly in the Current Year.
