I grew up with Flight of the Navigator. Its the delightful story of a kid who finds a sassy talking spaceship voiced by Paul Reubens. The first half of the movie is also extremely harrowing. The middle aged soyboys at Pixar try so damn hard to shove faux sentimentality into all their films, but FotN had some genuine fucking pathos to it. Love it.

I don't think any other movies have depicted the eternal I-95 vs Florida Turnpike argument with such graphic realism.

I loved this one, especially with the way they set it up with the kid coming home in the future to discover his folks aren't there and immediately goes through shit like that.

Pleasantly surprise by the overall tone of this thread, I'm glad to see everyone here being respectful and mature about the stuff they love. Anyways I'm planing on going to disneyland soon, like in a month or two. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do there?

Don't park in the Disneyland parking lot. It's overpriced. There's neighborhoods nearby to park your car where it's free and the car will be safe.
Go to Disneyland on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Less people go on those dates and you can walk right on rides. If there is a line on those days they're shorter than the regular days. The most I had to wait in line was about five minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Bring your own lunches. If you do buy food in Disneyland you should get the Gumbo in New Orleans Square because it's cheaper.
If you like desserts go to the vender who sells ice cream near the Tiki Room. They sell pineapple ice cream that's in pineapple juice and it's delicious.
Try to go on Space Mountain earlier. That line is always long.
Go in the morning right when Disneyland opens. People tend to show up there after school or in the late afternoons.
If you have enough money for both parks, go to California Adventure as well and get the park hopping passes. It costs extra but there's a lot to do at both parks. California Adventure is the only place where you're allowed to drink beer and there's none of that allowed at Disneyland.
DON'T stay at the Disneyland hotel. Unless you have a lot of money. Stay at the nearby hotels that are cheaper.
Wear the correct footwear. Don't wear sandals. Wear boots or sneakers. You'll be walking for 8-10 hours and your feet will hurt all day. I see so many people at Disneyland wearing the wrong shoes all the time.
If you like souvenirs either get a Disney hat or the pin buttons. They're the coolest ones.
The Peter Pan line is ALWAYS long no matter what time or day you get in. If you want to go on that one for fun, do that one earlier to get it over with.
Take advantage of the Disneyland train. It'll get you around the park easier so you don't have to walk much. There's also a cool dinosaur thing you can watch when you ride the train.

Speaking of Disneyland I LOVE Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It did a perfect job getting me into the world of The Wind And The Willows and the design of it is so cool looking.

This is an underrated ride in my opinion because people always go on Peter Pan or Snow White.

Oh speaking of live-action movies, I wonder if the reason we're all complaining about the live-action "remakes" sucking is because they don't have charm to them. Meanwhile, the 101 Dalmatians movie starring Glenn Close as Cruella de Ville seems to get a pass--though maybe that's because it didn't seek to try to usurp the animated film.
I won't be surprised if another live-action version is made just to have the dogs CGI along with some big name actors to voice them (apparently a live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp is in the works so expect that movie to have CGI talking dogs). Watch the Rotten Tomatoes critic consensus praise the newer live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians even though it said that the 1996 one was a "bland, pointless remake".

More talking dog movies should go along the route of Homeward Bound where the dogs spoke but their mouths didn't move. It looks so much more natural that way.

Disney World's wifi blocks 4chan, 8chan, and 420chan, but not Kiwi Farms.
That's the case for most public wi-fi servers I've found. Admins are aware of chans and their nasty reputation, but very few people know about the Farms despite the best efforts of of cows and Kiwis alike.

Didn't they retire this ride simply because no one knows about The Wind and the Willows anymore? And was it being replaced with something Frozen-related?

Dead season is February and March. Right after the holidays and before spring break. Take advantage of rainy days.

Personally I think annual passes are worth it, if you can't go all day or see everything in one visit you can always come another time, however I suggest getting it if you're a local.

@Kari Kamiya No, it's still there.

The Main Street Electrical Parade was mentioned. That's my favorite parade and I was so happy when I read that Disneyland brought it back.
I liked the 60th anniversary parade as well because it was so festive and so much work was put into it.

@BipolarPon I'm not sure how long you'll be in California but if you're staying for a week I recommend Knotts Berry Farm for at least one day along with Disneyland. It's cheaper and there's way more adult rides. If you have the time I say do both. As much as I like Disneyland- Knotts is more fun.

Indiana Jones is my favorite ride in the park, I'd highly recommend that. Because of the hydraulic system it uses it breaks down all the time though, so be prepared for that. It's a 30+ minute wait even if you use a fastpass (unless you wait for adventureland to open and head straight there, plus you're fast enough not to get caught behind everyone else doing the exact same thing) but the queue is amazing.

I'm jumping in to this thread kind if late, but :

I hope I can visit the parks again someday. The last time I went to Disney World I was a child with no say in what we did or where we went, and the weather was unbearably hot and humid. I've never been to Disneyland, but of course I'd like to go there too.

Animated movies have been and always were my jam. My favorites from Disney are Lilo and Stitch, Pinocchio, Brother Bear, The Rescuers, 101 Dalmations, Lady & the Tramp, Treasure Planet, Atlantis : The Lost Empire, Bolt, The Aristocats, and The Fox and The Hound. I never really liked the movie musicals like The Little Mermaid, but I don't hate them. I grew up being exposed to a lot of musical theater including seeing stuff like the Adams Family musical (yes really, Nathan Lane was in it) in Chicago before it went on Broadway, so the whole thing just kind of annoys me now.

With that being said, I have watched and read reviews of Chicken Little many times now, but I still can't really dislike the movie. I genuinely enjoy Chicken Little, and I don't know why. I also like Shark Tale, and watched it so much as a kid that my DVD of it is unreadable now. My taste in movies is all over the place..

As an aside, Pixar movies that I really like are Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Up, The Good Dinosaur, Coco, and Monster's Inc. I can understand why some people would have a problem with the emotional manipulation in Pixar movies, but I'd rather have a good cry than be bored when I'm watching something. For me, I really like The Good Dinosaur because there are moments in the film where something just hits me, and I like that. When a movie does that to me it wins me over, even if the movie isn't perfect by any means.

Don't wear a hat on Indiana Jones. I lost mine that way. The ride blows it off.

Also if @BipolarPon goes in a month or so I'm pretty sure The Haunted Mansion will be turned into Nightmare Before Christmas.

@KelpieSelkie I love the pretty art style of Lady And The Tramp.

I strongly suggest planning an itinerary. If you plan on going on space mountain/splash mountain/Matterhorn get a fast pass. If you aren't interested in seeing parades use that time to time to get on as many rides as you can. Pack a water bottle, there's a faucet in the Red Rose Tavern in fantasyland where you can easily refill a large reuseable water bottle. Critter Country is pretty skipable so don't bother wasting your day in there. If you need a quick way of getting through Main Street, use the store interiors. If you need to get away from crowds there's a seating area beside the dry dock across from haunted mansion beside the fish and chips stand there. Good inexpensive meal there is from the window beside Pirates, facing the Rivers of America. Fantasmic is a must see if you chose to go on a weekend, good locations to watch are from the overhead bridge of Pirates and the patio of the plantation house facades though I suggest you camp out there at least an hour and a half before it starts. I promise it's really worth the patience.

I suppose it's for the best we keep it that way, lest the admins finding out sooner or later.

Certainly worked for a Cinemascope effort! I'm sure the live-action version coming up won't top this (what with having to film it in Savannah, GA).
