Trump maybe facing prison time, yet he spent his possible remaining freedom attacking Ron DeSantis for standing up against Disney's fake news. Disney spent 6 year attacking Trump. Yet marketing himself as the Disney dick sucker candidate.

Initial take: this is a poster for a disaster movie. Until I saw the title squirrelled away down there.

I still think I was right, though.

Also, I know this is an overused complaint on culture war grifter youtube, but holy shit it's so dark. Why is this film so dark?
Because “REALISM!!!!”

Something weird I’ve noticed over the past long while is that Hollywood is usually REALLY awkward about portraying interracial kissing. Specifically white man and black woman. Nearly all exceptions to this are actually pale “hispanic” or “middle eastern” man and/or half white / half asian woman.

Or even asian men and other races. It’s really rare.

Hell even in Princess and the Frog, the prince was heavily tanned hispanic or something, not 100% caucasian.

For a very recent example, in the Mandalorian we see a married couple portrayed by Jack Black and Lizzo. I don’t think that they even hold hands.

It’s really weird. What is Disney afraid of?

So in this new Little Mermaid film, Prince Eric is definitely caucasian. Will Ariel and he actually kiss at the end? It will surprise me greatly if it isn’t half obscured or CGId.

Will they actually do it? I’m betting that they won’t. Ariel and Eric kissing will be half hidden or just implied.

I get the impression that even wokeists are silently uncomfortable with white men and POC showing physical affection.

I'm not watching the trailer, the thumbnail just gives me early-2000s CGI vibes, but sterile. What look are they even trying to go for, anyway?

A trailer should be ideally a synopsis of the movie and again Disney gets it wrong. This trailer tells you nothing. The art style is really ugly and not like good ugly because some art styles can be ugly yet charming. This looks incredibly cheap and honestly, it reminds me of the cheap video releases in the early 2000s. This has Strange World numbers written all over it.

It's hard to tell in still images, but they seem to be going for a 2D animated effect alongside the CG.

Girl wants wish granted and goes to wish granter. Your typical princess film tier plot, it'll probably do OK numbers.

Trailer for the new movie "Wish". Out in November.

Seems like their finally trying that 2D 3D mix they first experiment with the Paperman short they made in 2012, though I think it worked a bit better because it used a different art style and was mostly black and white. And TBH I can probably think of two or three animated works that blend 2D and 3D better in that 10 years.
