It's almost like he is Javier Bardem even!

Also I hate this Sid sloth lookin qween. Fuck me she is unbearable to look at, they have to be doing it on purpose.
Holy kek, I just realised that is actually Javier Bardem. Also, yes she just looks off due to that 1/2 Drag race track between her eyes. Seriously, the make-up department almost hates her, considering she doesn't look that bad in other pics of her (generally, not as Ariel). Not to include, the darker Black woman looks more like the main character due to having an actually good design than this Ariel herself.

Late and gay...

Ursula might be one of the few times when casting an actual tranny would've been better since her design was based off a drag queen.

A while ago these two videos popped up side by side in my youtube recommends. I had to screenshot.

I have a feeling the casting directors should have gone sniffing around Jerry's Artarama.

Life action Eric looks fucking awful. Like a tired homeless guy. The actor is also ugly and a bad choice.

Can't have Eric looking appealing to the female audience. They might end up liking him and where does that slippery slope lead to? They'll want him to pilot ships and save their lives and that's nothin' but pure and simple old fashioned patriarchy.

Apparently King Triton was a big ol’ man-whore.

This might be the biggest and best example of “forced diversity” I’ve seen in a while.
bit late on this due to not being on for a bit, but there's something really off about how their 'tops' and 'bras' are their skin. In the cartoon movie it was clearly all shells and stuff they had put on themselves, but making it their actual skin squicks me out. Also, wasn't the whole point of their original designs to match each of the seven seas?

Eh, plot armour, that's all it is.

First, I did not notice this either and second, the dead sea joke got a big chuckle out of me.

So is the Asian one in the remake the Yellow Sea?

Honestly, this does look kinda cool but not at all like the Little Mermaid, making it suck even more that they didn't create a new story based on some other mermaid story, like Mami Wata, with a black mermaid not connected to Ariel :/

The thing feels especially redudant because there is already a Black movie being produced based on The Little Mermaid tale by Disney, except with actual ~*culture*~...

Also, was just scrolling trought Instagram when I stumbled upon 2 darkskin but simultaneously glowing fairies...

The old Tinkbell was most likely designed the way she was because of the animation limitations at the time, and they easily could've incorperated stuff like this into the redesign (into that of the blue fairy too tbh) in current day, but instead they just slapped the old design onto a black chick and took away her glow and called it a day...

That looks bad. Huge wave, sinking ship and it still looks so static. I'm sure they could have integrated the text much better, this looks like a 10 minute graphic designer quickie.
Full version of the new Part of Your World is out. The soundtrack will probably end up being the only notable thing about the film.

Why is she singing like that? Now I'm not expecting exactly same as the original as that would be pointless but this just stops the sentences so randomly. It sounds choppy and doesn't flow with the instruments.

I'm not hating it to hate it. I like music from series and movies I otherwise dislike. For example Cats movie soundtrack of Skimbleshanks: The Railway Cat is good. This just isn't a good cover of a classic song.

She has a much lower head voice then the original Ariel so that is definitely one reason. She's reaching to try to stay in head voice you can hear it in the quality of her singing. Ouch sometimes she misses the notes entirely....

Even the broadway person they got had a similar range to Jodi Benson and was classically trained:

because she’s just so upset by climate change?
Well, not THAT part. 0.0

It's not great, especially the 'wandering frEE' part, but compared to the Emma Watson shit it's great, and about the same as Naomi Scott Jasmine imo. And Mulan didn't sing.
Not nearly as bad as it could've been for sure, but still trying way to hard to replicate something that just happens to not suit her.

Aside from live action Cinderella and the half white half Indian playing a middle eastern princess, all of the live action princesses so far have been pretty shit.
Emma Watson sucked ass in general in many areas, Mulan's actress is a straight up Chinese nationalist, Halle is a decent enough singer but not a good actress and she also looks like shit in the movie because she's styled very badly, and the Latina playing Snow White already makes NO sense since her being a mega pale german girl is a legit important part of her character, and the actress already chimped out on Twitter about people not liking her being cast as Snow White.

The visuals continue to be shit, especially the fucking pink headband. Just let her have the blue ribbon at least ffs, especially when she looks significantly better with hair framing her face.
