The other day the actor for David was announced, and the usual suspects were moaning about how he's not "Hawaiian" enough, never mind the fact he attended the one private school in Hawaii (Kamehameha Schools) where you literally cannot be accepted into unless you have definite proof of native Hawaiian blood in your family.

Fuck this gay-ass Earth and everyone in it.

I know this is Disney and all, but why are you guys so spooked over this live-action attempt over the others?
Age. It was the big Disney film when I was young enough to care and old enough to actually get the film. Also it's around the end of Disney's 2D animation.

Courtney B. Vance cast as Cobra Bubbles.

The one thing I remember about him, is he was a cop/detective guy in Final Destination 5, but he didn't seem to stand out, compared to other cop characters in the earlier FD movies, i.e. Agent Weine (?) and Shreck (?) in the first movie, and Officer Burke in FD2.

Maybe I'm an asshole but I kinda wanna see James Woods's Hades dealing with his BS fam on Mt. Olympus and the subsequent power-plays. A story consisting of scenes like this...

...sounds awesome and better than anything Disney comes up these days, huh?!

I've read the Little Mermaid and half of the Frozen one. The concepts are interesting, but they do read more like fanfic then disney stories.

Marvel tried this too and gave up after two books. Rogue Touch and She Hulk Diaries.

The animated series has him interacting with other gods a lot more. I think it's all on Youtube if you wanna check it out.

I think in general it's due to the gradual erosion and rape of childhood memories and the eradication of perfect animation. Aladdin for example is a masterpiece it unified cg and animation flawlessly and it still holds up. The Little Mermaid is stunning that uses a vibrant array of colors whilst being fantastic with Ursula. Lilo and Stitch are incredibly beloved because I think it's a film that is so innocent yet adult at the same time but very different because it is based on a location that is good. A lot of the other films based in real locations like 101 and Oliver and Company are just weaker films. Also, Lilo came out in a period Disney was death spiraling so it's got much more attachment.

For me personally, it's Hercules, I fucking adore that film. The particular drawing style with some of the richest colors Disney has used along with a good story. Hades also is a fucking chad and is pretty human considering he's a god, James Woods is perfect for the role. Whoever cast that film did incredible because the cast is perfect. The soundtrack is great and it is just a really fun film.

These live-action films are soulless and so poorly cast, none of the cast for the entire series has even been good. Who the fuck cast Emma Watson as Belle honestly needs to kiss traffic. Fuck not casting Angela Lansbury as Mrs Potts is a war crime. Fuck Potts is one of the most beloved characters for Lansbury's voice alone. The board is so disrespectful to the original source material but most importantly the fans.

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) - Disney is reportedly getting ready to cut thousands of jobs as part of a second wave of layoffs.

A report said ESPN will begin informing some of its employees as early as next week.
The cuts include some on-air talent and management.

Disney said it is eliminating as many as 7,000 jobs over three rounds.

The company said it will also lay off about 15 percent of the staff in its entertainment division next week as well.

I can see that, yeah. A good writer would be able to pull it off, I just can't trust modern Disney and its affiliated writers.

Surprised there's no Beauty and the Beast one (yet), but there's actually a what-if fic called "Picture This" where Belle does end up marrying Gaston and none of the characters are OoC. It's leagues better than anything that's come out this last decade-or-so.

My opinion is that the ability to access the old films will be blocked by Disney through natural erosion of physical media and Disney campaigning to remove access digitally (yeah pirates will still be able to access, but those are tiny minority). The end goal is to remove competition from less profitable media, and use its butchered corpse to prop up new media with the same name, but more fitting current political trends and still with full IP revenue.

Song of the South is an excellent example - Disney wants people to forget that movie fucking EXISTS.
