Rate me autistic, but this is making me think of the B-plot of Max Keeble's Big Move, a 2001 Disney movie, wherein the principal (played by Larry Miller) was discovered to be funneling the school budget not into the education system and teachers' salary as promised, but into building a huge stadium as a vanity project because "Sports rule, science drools".

But that must be why Iger wanted to go into politics so bad. He was already functioning like one. :story:
Pretty much. It's impossible to escape the woke argument with him but more or less I think what he ended up trying to do was leverage his position as Disney CEO to court the Liberals/Democrats and angled for a possible Chinese Ambassador position. Which is why he let so many woke fuckers into the company and completely deface what Disney used to be (a greedy as shit corporation hiding behind a mouse but at least it was largely apolitical back then). That didn't pan out and so once the consequences of his actions started to show up, accelerated by the pandemic shut down, he got the fuck out of Dodge.

Which is why him coming back continues to baffle me. Couldn't he have just said no? But by the same token that he would have to know what's happening, I have to wonder if what might end up being exposed could still reach back to him and he came back (almost immediately after the RTX failure, suspiciously) to try and bury the proverbial bodies before the authorities notice. Because if there's been years of securities fraud, that shit definitely would have been on his watch and he'd be guilty as hell since he loved spending money on dumb shit like the ultimately fruitless NBA Experience nobody but him wanted at Disney Springs.

Suffice to say this is quite literally the most entertaining thing Disney's put out in years.

The hilarious thing is, if he had gambled the other way, making traditional (non-woke) movies (and I mean just normal shit, even regular soft-left pap, like the first Iron Man movie, not Blaze media or pro-Christian stuff), and just stayed out of the whole political realm (even as far as still having gay-day or whatever at the parks, and all the internal stuff), he probably could've fashioned that into a Republican political run. Just be more overtly "pro-Israel," instead of secretly ((((pro-Israel)))) and he'd have been a shoe-in.

I mean I'm sure he'll worm his way out of this, like they always do, but it's a hell of a lot of work and crow-eating, just so he can appease a bunch of fellow pedophiles.

And you thought the feminist cringe in the live action remakes hit its peak.

The live action remake will have zero of the charms that the orginal have.
Ariel in the orginal is just so sweet. She is a naive young girl who doesn't think ahead, but there is no malice with her.
The remake will be just like every other of this shit remakes.
She will have next to no personailty and it will just be "YOU GO GIRL" windows dressing.
Can anyone tell me what charm Emma Watson had as Belle compare to the animated one?

The only issue of consent I can think of here is Prince Eric considering that he's the one that nearly got mind-controlled into marrying Ursula in the animated film. The whole "Kiss The Girl" song segment can also only be considered "problematic" if considering it from his perspective considering that it features Ariel's animal friends trying to gaslight the dude into kissing her. Ariel by that point already wants him inside her, no additional consent required.

What I hate about these "problematic" arguments is that they largely ignore the context in which the "problematic" things happen and the lead up to said problem. On its face, a song about "just kiss the girl" might be a little eye brow raising. But by that point:
1) Ariel is in love (or infatuation) with Eric, so of course she wants him.
2) Ariel knows she needs Eric to fall in love with her and seal the deal with a kiss, so of course she's OK with him kissing her.
3) Ariel and Eric have been shown to be spending time together and enjoying each other's company, so a kiss wouldn't be unusual.

Yeah, the only issue of consent really is Eric, who does show some hesitation to kiss Ariel. And the only reason he's being pressured by Sebastian and the others....
....is because of Ursula.
She's the one that set up this situation where Ariel only has THREE DAYS to accomplish her goal, or else. This is the BAD GUY'S fault.
Who woulda thunk?

She was really good in HP, but post HP she basically undergone the full parabola
She was super meh in HP. Only reason that didn't matter was Hermione being intentionally fairly annoying and awkward character. She is ment have her good sides like reliable and knowledgeable but those get almost overshadowed by her weaknesses. She is a bossy know it all who doesn't notice her mistakes despite them being clear to others. It's a good character set up for humor and drama but more importantly here, that allows plenty room for a none charismatic actress with okey face to look better than she is.

What is even funnier is that JK Rowling actually wrote her with these weaknesses in mind and they come up quite often in the books. Its her movie version that got mary sue'd and almost all her weak moments got passed to Ron.

There is some video that compares the two, and while I couldn't give less than a shit about Harry potter since I am no longer some cringy teenager, it was a rather interesting video on what changed and how that ultimately affected the character.

Regardless, Emma Watson is the least talented actor from HP and was carried hard by her two far superior co-stars. There is a reason she really doesn't have much of a career after HP other than the shitty Disney remake and her co-stars do.

I wouldn't be surprised if the person behind these decisions was a fat black dangerhair in the same vein as Ursula herself, like Ursula's spell on Ariel in the movie already gives her consent because she's stubborn and cannot be forced into a contract by Ursula because she manipulates her playing on her wishes by offering her a chance at a human life, an actual fundamental plot point and a good villain motive. Back when Disney would try and paint their villains as non-twist or sympathetic and just straight up fun and cackling evil. This was never needed in the first place and the disney executives behind this are so fucking disingenuous and and nonsensical in their choices. The one thing I have hope for is that this may genuinely flop because during my trip to the new Mario movie when the trailer for this popped up a large number of children in my theatre audibly groaned and a chorus of high pitched squeals shrieking 'thats not my Ariel!!' in a petulant but completely understandable indignation. If even children are starting to loathe the live action remakes Disney keep shitting out maybe there is a glint of hope that eventually they'll return to creativity again.

What lessons will Disney take away from's Frozen 2 record being broken? We need a fat black transgender lesbian princess? Woke reboot of spectrobes because video game movie?

Got to ask, whay has Ron's actor done after HP? I don't remember him on anything.

He has actually been in a fair few TV shows and movies since HP. Not the most high profile stuff, but its clear he is working and has some talent.

My point is not that they have crap tons of high profile acting gigs, just that they are clearly doing something rather than emma who really hasn't done much of anything.

Excuuuuse me? She got horrible tatoos and a shit haircut and bitched about child molestation to the child molesters! So much stunning and brave!

This makes it clear that they are simply projecting what they want onto the old film as justification for the changes they're making, as opposed to there actually BEING a problem since as already discussed, what's happening in the Kiss The Girl scene is the complete fucking opposite and it's Ariel being forced onto Eric. Except not even that because the whole scene is clearly an awkward moment between two people who clearly have the hots for each other and the sea creatures are basically saying "just FUCK already!"

And that they have to change a villain song at all is stupid. Nevermind the idea that there isn't anything remotely about girls 'speaking out of turn', the whole point is Ursula is a lying sack of shit who is ultimately using Ariel as a means to strike back at King Triton, since later in the film when the opportunity presents itself Urula doesnt give a shit about Ariel, by that point the witch has the omnipotence trident.

"Acutally, the song is higggghhhllllyyyy promblematic. If we don't spell out that Ursula is not a role model, how will the kids know that?
Also, as Ursula is a wommmeeennn, we can't make her too evil, otherwise we will be sexist. We need to make sure that Triton is potrayed as being in the wrong, as he is an older MAN, AKA the worst creature in history. "

Disney's has only one "solution" and that's making movies with and about faggots and brown people. That's it. The days of creativity and entertainment are long gone. The can't do anything but produce trash movie after trash movie.
