Holy shit balls, I just looked up the budge for it. $157.8 million

WTF were they thinking?

Also I wonder if they went for the mainly blacks, because of the 2003 film. Where there'd be some confusion of white washing. Although set in New Orleans. Old plantation house like that. There'd be some woke metric to do with that. I wonder if the film will end up going into White's bad. Slavery and so forth.

EuroDisney sometimes has Vincent Price
not as chatty as Paul Freeseses's Ghost Host but still Vincent Price

>comedy film about black family in haunted mansion

So Disney is just ripping off The Haunted Mansion Eddie Murphy movie.
This is supposed to be a reboot. Why they would reboot this movie is beyond me because they have no originality. How many scary mansion movies have been released? I’m sure that it’s so much of them that it’s now a dead genre. House of Wax, House on Haunted Hill, Beetlejuice…there’s even one released on Netflix called We Have a Ghost.

seems like The Haunted Mansion would work well for an anthology horror series
each ep the story of one or more of the nine hundred and ninety nine happy haunts, all the stuff from the ride, mostly OC though
start cycling the more fan-fav new ghosts into some of the projection effects since they're cheap to change out

So you’re telling me the haunted mansion, the ride ip with a massive backlog of both imagineer and fan created lore that writers could’ve easily plucked from, is just rehashing the shitty 2003 plot?

>>>Well you established MODOK’s an Avenger now. Any chance a variant could come back and join the team?
>>>Loveness: (laughs) Uh… if I say yes, I promise you he will be even stupider. I refuse to listen to the fans on this. I will not make MODOK serious. As long as I’m alive, they’re not gonna get that serious adaptation that those four fans want. He’ll be a big dumb head. That’s all.

It is crazy to think that MVC has a more compelling and funny adaptation of this character.

It is genuinely sad to see the state of this character, and this is coming from a guy who grew up with the Superhero Squad adaptation, but even that treated him better. M.O.D.O.K. is a stupid concept, but playing it straight actually makes the character funnier than the self-deprecating shit current Marvel pulls.

Here is to everyone’s favorite big-headed troll character

The Misfit (Another short monster guy with a giant head and small body) from the goofy Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon was also better than M.O.D.O.K. in Ant-Man 3. (This is part of the tradition where DC and Marvel seem to have equivalent characters to each other.)

I don't think that cartoon had as big a budget as the movie either. This is to be expected though, they've handed the comic books off to people who hate comic books, and now they've followed suit with the movies.

Animated shows/films and video games do their Marvel/DC properties more justice than their live-action films virtually all the time. Making Darren Cross/Yellowjacket MODOK was just stupid. Might as well just left him out of this.

I will sort of disagree as I think older DC/Marvel films could do equal Justice to the animated and game adaptations. Rami Spider is not perfect, but still a definer to what Spider-Man is today, same could be said for Batman as while Burton and Nolan are certainly weird adaptations, they are placed as large parts of their character’s history.

I would also claim that animation and movies have become poor adaptations in recent years. Most Marvel cartoons now are just shitty MCU adverts, and DC animation is very hit or miss with the films and shows like Harley Quinn and new seasons of YJ are not great.

I think older content was less corporate and more fan driven than now.

Jeff should get over himself before Daddy Feige tells him to put his toys away and go to bed.

The Haunted Mansion has always been a mismanaged ip.

How Disney hasnt done a Haunted Mansion hotel at Disney World is beyond me.

So I just came back to the movies with my girlfriend. During the previews they played the teaser. She was just as uninterested as me towards it. She also doesn't like how they made Ariel black. And mind you I have never mentioned my opinion about it until after she said that. I find it interesting because she's not into politics or cultural war stuff.

It makes me wonder if this movie will be the straw that breaks the Camel's back. Since it seems regular people who don't usually care about wokness or anti-SJWs aren't happy with this. It makes since Ariel has been a redhead and white for decades suddenly changing her appearance is just too big for a lot of people to get over as much as the corporations and the SJW cult want to believe otherwise.

I dislike this on a visceral level:

I know it's a movie, I know, but still.

hollywood has literally eradicated redheads with blacks for years, only difference now is ariel is too iconic and well-known.

the smart choice would've been to use the other redheaded princess, I really wanted to see a black clan in the scottish highlands...
