Walt Disney World and Disneyland will now charge visitors up to $20 a day to skip lines for rides, a perk that was previously free
With the new Disney Genie+ service - which replaces the free FastPass service - customers will need to pay extra if they want to skip lines.news.yahoo.com
Don't know if this belongs here, but apparently Disney world and Disneyland are planning to get rid of fast passes. Now you have to pay something that was previously free, up to $15 to $20 per ticket if you want to skip the line. The happiest place of Earth people.![]()
For one thing, those passes were excellent (and I think were originally created) for families with disabled children who couldn't handle standing in line for long periods of time. Then people started abusing it, and I don't know if they had ever clamped down on that or not. Either way, that's such a damn shame, but at the same time, Disney gets what they fucking deserve.![]()

Don't forget that the original reason for FastPass' existence is that guests were spending too much time in lines and not buying products.fastpasses of all sorts are cancer at the heart of everything going to shit alongside the decision that stores have to carry their own weight killing the individual character of shops and making it all character merch shit
yeah I respect how it makes sense from an exec standpoint but even ten minutes on the frontlines showed how shit it was, shit become packed to the gills everywhere as fuckers just fucked around waiting on shit and still not buying shitDon't forget that the original reason for FastPass' existence is that guests were spending too much time in lines and not buying products.
Honestly the disability pass is genuinely fair, because I don't think being in a wheelchair (or supposedly autistic) should excuse anyone from jumping straight to the front of the line. If you can't wait in the physical line, then you can spent 1-2 hours waiting elsewhere. And if you really can't do that much, then theme parks aren't for you. Theme parks aren't for everyone anyways. If you were super scared of heights or got sick on rides really easily, even Fantasyland would be an absolute nightmare for you.A bitbut those are disability passes, which are different from the FP/FP+ system that was in use until last year.

Wait a minute, are you seriously telling me you can no longer ride buses from the hotels to the parks? You have got to be fucking kidding me.One rich Texan got fed up with his daughter not being able to enjoy theme parks, and just went ahead and made one for disabled people. Morgan's Wonderland.
As for the demise of the old Fastpass system, it sucks. It is yet another thing for Disney to make a bit of extra money, and price out normies with families. The GeniePass charges aren't per group (like the photography package) but per ticket. This is also means that staying in a Disney Resort hotel loses another perk (The direct buses already being discontinued) I am glad I was able to go to Disney World before shit got too silly, but I very much doubt I will take my family again. Tokyo Disney is owned and operated by a separate company, and they were still using paper fastpasses the time I went. I guess I gotta go to Tokyo.

What you said is unintelligible. It looks like you can pay for an all day pass or select rides a la carte, but it seems by doing that, they're trying to make it cheaper to get the all day pass. My question is, why the Disneyland one costs more than the Disney World one? And it's literally is charging people twice to ride rides just for front of line privileges; they should just bring back FastPass: it'll get my ass in the park and I promise to buy some overpriced merch. It's 15 to get 1 easy to get on ride per day then it is an a la carte changes by day price to get a higher tier ride per day addon to that $15.

Wording is changed a bit now to be vague on if you need to buy the original first but when first announced you required the $15 one ot access the 2nd.
The way it was first presented to people was that:What you said is unintelligible. No, it was presented for the entire park, this thread is only place I've seen even close to your interpretation. Even the site says it's for the whole park unless you only want a Lightening Lane pass for one ride. But if ticket prices are going up yet again, this is another strike against the parks, regardless of how they're doing this. The way it was first presented to people was that:
1. Buy Genie Pass for $15 to get access to One pass for One lower tier ride at a time (Don't go to Disney enough to know what these rides entail)
2. After purchasing Genie get access to ability to pay an disclosed amount that varies to get a One of the highest tier ride (E.G. Rise of the Resistance)
Until people actually start purchasing it won't know how insane the prices will be, but considering they are charging $250 for a 3 hour party on top of the ticket price it will probably be quite pricye.
