Do people have mental illness fetishes? Like, "Damn nothing turn me on like a girl who got baaad anxiety."

Or, "Shieeeet baby I LOVE when you talkin to the voices in your head."
I don't know if serial killer fangirls would fall under the mental illness fetish category, but that's probably part of it.

Why did she not just close her damn eyes or put on a blindfold or make some black out sunglasses

This is the easiest disability to simulate I don't understand
She did, for some time. Apparently it just wasn't "the same".
After the "psychologist" poured drain cleaner in her eyes, her eyesight was recovering after some time in hospital. She's still not blind. If I remember correctly, she had to have one eye removed, but the other one still retains some vision.

Has anyone ever heard of Anna Stubblefeild? She was a Facilitated Communication practicer who fell in love with/ raped the severly mentally handicapped/ disabled man was facilitating for.

Now, for those who don't know, Facilitated Communication is a pseudo science that was debunked long, long ago. The idea behind it was for an able bodied person to help non-verbal, physically disabled people communicate. However, the methodology was severely flawed. A facilitator would place their hand over the hand of the disabled person, and move their hand to type letters or show pictures. The problem with this is that most, if not all, FC users fell prey to the "Quiji board effect", meaning they were just typing what they thought the disabled person wanted to say, and not what the disabled person was actually saying. BTW now a days we have computer programs that can read facial movements and whatnot to help the severely disabled communicate, so FC is now entirely unnecessary.

see?

Anyway, Anna Stubblefeild is- was- one of the last hold outs for FC, insisting that she could do better for the disabled than silly old technology! She started facilitating for a profoundly retarded and physically handicapped man named D.J. . D.J had the mental age of a small infant, but under Anna's care she "discovered" that he was actually a highly intelligent intellectual who liked to read Richard dawkins and drink red wine. She soon fell in love with D.J's newly discovered personality, and began having sex with him. D.J couldn't actually move without assistance, so Anna had to control his body the whole time. Of course, without Anna around, D.J had the intellect of a little baby once again.

Anna was arrested of course, but it's just horrifying to think about. Who looks at 30 year old man with the brain of a one year old, and thinks "yup. That's sexy." ??

Among other things, this case is a perfect example of why woo and quackery is actually harmful, rather than being harmless nonsense, and extremist SJW beliefs that treat science and medicine as basically just being "social constructs" open the way for actually committing heinous acts.

She's apparently going to be sentenced January 15, facing something between 10 to 40 years. If she gets a sentence at the high end of that, it will be because of her shocking arrogance throughout the proceedings.

God fucking damn. I got serious SJW vibe of the article pretty early on, then come the iconic buzzwords of "ableist oppression" and "real, lived experiences".

Lived experiences. Lived experiences don't count for jack fucking shit in real science for a reason. If you can't find proof of what you're saying and rely on anecdotes, you're almost certainly full of more shit than a cow barn.

And god fucking damn, this motherfuckers words from his own mouth in the article:

Meanwhile, because of past scandals, facilitated communication has been quietly rebranded. In 2010, the Facilitated Communication Institute in Syracuse changed its name to the Institute on Communication and Inclusion. ‘‘We need to do more on F.C., but we can’t call it that,’’ said John Hussman, a major donor to the institute who runs a $6 billion mutual fund and whose son uses the technique. He had just given a talk on the neuroscience of what is now often termed ‘‘supported typing.’’ ‘‘We have to come up with some other name to fly under the radar and maintain credibility,’’ he said.

I don't even know what to say to this. This is so blatantly bullshit I'm surprised it's not illegal somehow.

‘‘From a parent’s perspective, who cares about the research?’’ she replied. ‘‘The research will work itself out. In the meantime, I want to talk to my son.’

You're not talking to him you dense motherfucker! This fucking Ouija board shit! Look,I sympathize with these parents, and I'm well aware its possible for someone's disabilities to hide their real intelligence. The thing is this is provably a bullshit means of communicating with a person. I'm not a doctor, but many of the people describe also sound like they are well past the point of be a person "trapped" without a means to truly speak. These sound mostly like people with disabilities so severe that we know there's no deeper functioning. That makes communicating impossible since there's nothing to communicate with.

I also noticed not one mention of this technique being tried and completely failing with even "trained" person. It sounds like the "trained" people always find a hidden personality. No mention of a case of them going "nope, he really is retarded, sorry." Any failure of the technique is waved off as either the person doing the FC being inexperienced or under study the disabled person isn't in the right mood to communicate or some such. This is remarkably like the claims by psychics and other paranormal practitioners who upon failing when studied claiming that the "energy was wrong" or there are "bad vibes" and shit.

Any time you hear the phrase "lived experience," the next thing to follow is invariably utter bullshit.

My response to that sort of stuff is FUCK your lived experience.
