You know, I always wondered "For a thread about disability fetishes, I'm surprised no one brought up the mental ones yet". Even to this day I'm still surprised. I mean there has to be people with Aspergers, ADD and/or dementia fetishes out there right? Right:?:

But that's the problem with all of the internet dregs people find bubbling in the muck: there are people out there who WOULD be into that, no matter how unnecessary, nonsensical, or completely batshit insane or stupid it is.

A disability fetish proves to be nothing more than an underlying desire for full control; like people already mentioned, the victims are never in a condition where they could either move away on their own or get away. There's a difference between people who dedicate their lives to taking care of those who need it and enjoying the work they do, and then there's disgusting freaks like this who don't see people with disabilities as people, they see them as a way to get off and feel better about themselves to think they're more capable and stronger than someone else.

You never know, there could be people out there who make coddling someone with Autism or Dimentia a fetish. After all, it is the internet, anything's possible.

I don't really know anybody, thank god. But Chris Griffin from Family Guy was attracted Eileen, the Down Syndrome girl.


I find it very strange and actually shallow that having a disability is the main feature. I personally believe personality and dignity matters the most. Even people with disabilities can be jerks or nice people, including autistics.

Sigh, everything is fetish.
 
The lady who made herself blind with the help of a psychologist (who had lost his license years earlier) she met online was on Dr. Phil today. They used drain cleaner and when she went to the er, she claimed that it was an accident.

She said that ever since she was about 12 she wanted to be blind. I couldn't finish watching the episode though.

I just read through the thread. This is either really creepy (Munchausen by oneself or by proxy)... or really sad (people who actually injure themselves).
 
Hmm, are there any people attracted to mental disabilities? And I'm not talking about the tumblrina kind, where they want to have the mental disability, I mean people whose fetish is like, autists or something. Come to think of it, wouldn't that make Kiwi Farms a type of fetish site? :tomgirl:
 
i can't remember his name, but wasn't there some lolcow who was like...i dunno, i wanna say he was a mega furry? but he was all around a fucked up person, he was living in squalor and refused to get a job iirc, and the most fucked part about his situation was that he was married to a severely physically disabled woman to get her disability checks whom he regularly neglected and abused. he has an ED article but for the life of me i can't think of his name.

Would amputation fetishes, where people cut off a limb because the limb gives them fall under the category of disability fetishes?

For the people who actually have the tendency to self injure themselves to make them disabled, some people wonder if there's a neurological component involved? If the area of the brain that's involved in processing sensations in a specific part of the body such as an arm is malfunctioning due to a tumor or legion, then it makes me wonder if the people with the amputation fetishes self injure themselves in able to find a match between their perceived body and their physical body?

You might be thinking of Kevin Havens, the dollfucker. He used his paralyzed wife's disability checks to buy more realdolls.

It's referred to as body integrity identity disorder but it's kind of a pop psychology term not officially recognized by the DSM yet. There's a lot of debate about its pathology in the medical community but one theory is that there's a significant neurological component to at least to the missing limb types and MRI scans seem to lend a lot of credence to that theory. Basically they've found decreased right superior parietal lobe activation when they stimulate the "unwanted" limb which indicates a neurological mapping issue. It's not inherently a fetish thing.

Sometimes when some people are bored then those people will close their eyes to see what it would be like to be blind, they don't know if it's common behavior or not, but occasionally people will do that to see if they can find their way around the house using their other senses.

At camp we had an exercise like that where we were led through the entire camp blindfolded for an hour or so. It was cool.

Do people have mental illness fetishes? Like, "Damn nothing turn me on like a girl who got baaad anxiety."

Or, "Shieeeet baby I LOVE when you talkin to the voices in your head."

I came in here to post this.
Katawa Shoujo, when it first started circulating as concept art, was pretty blandly received or regarded as a joke. Watching it grow to accumulate a fanbase and alarming number of casual players was pretty shocking.
It did, however, spawn some great fan content.
