Pokemon ZA being hot garbage has propelled the interest in Time Stranger.

Nothing crazy but Steam charted 84k release peak 16 days ago with 17k currently playing 2 weeks after release.

That's amazing for a Digimon game. Cybersleuth peaked at 3k, Survive (visual novel basically) @ 6k. The rest aren't even worth mentioning.
It helps too that Time Stranger is actually, y'know, a fun game. ZA is an ugly pointless slog that tries to paint a team of predatory loan sharks as good guys in what managed to be somehow the least interesting story in a series of uninteresting stories.

Digimon may have a weird fucking fanbase full of autistics, but at least it manages to produce games like Time Stranger and Hacker's Memory that are actual games and not just cheap ass cash grabs.

It helps the original show was way better than Pokemon, as hokey as it was, and Tamers, the second real show, was LEAGUES better than anything before, and stood over Pokemon like a fucking God.
a baffling "childrens" show, in terms of the content in it, the writer really got a way with QUITE alot.

but it had fucking peak as hell moments like this one, where, despite it not fitting any of the established power rules in the setting, our boy Impmon gets a power boost, this scene alone sold people on Beelzemon forever.

Tamers was one of the few Digimon anime that got a release in my native language, and I remember eating that shit up when I was younger. They took a lot of risks including all those darker elements and it paid off well. There's really no comparison with the saccharine, bland mass that is the Pokemon anime.

Here's hoping Bandai is smart enough to capitalize on the momentum with Time Stranger and pump a little more into producing games of similar quality going forward. But it's Bandai, so, you know. Smart decisions aren't expected.

Defeated Parrotmon had to completely remake my team because non were hitting with weakness, mostly unlucky match up. So far been having fun and although the game is not perfect it is the best digimon game we gotten in awhile. Saw that there are Legend Arms in the game so ill make Durandamon because hes cool, hopefully Bryweludramon is also in so that i can digivolve into RagnaLoardmon

Regarding the new pokemon game, ive seen people gravitating towards digimon due to how shit ZA is. I dont mind new people or digimon exposure but i just dont feel like waking up and seeing people complain about the problematic digimons and all that shit. Although it would be funny to see the meltdown from trannies.

its simple, always have one of your characters have Character Reversal, so even if you didn't come with weakness hitting moves, now you can just flip them.

this also works to your advantage if your best guy is weak to the boss, now he isn't.
the entire game is built around making one of your Units who hits the weakness the best into a damage output god, so Spell Force/Attack Up/Crit up w/e
have each Digimon have one buff and 3 attacks, and bam your gold, I just put Aura on Aeigomon he can be the healer.

Just wait until they watch the original anime subbed without any of the western censorship lmao, this was an actual line in the Japanese release:

But yeah, I agree. I hope Digimon isn't changed with the influx of new fans. One of the series' strengths has been how unafraid it is to try new and sometimes weird shit. If the creators start toning things down for mass appeal a lot of the charm would be gone.

so far so good, I mean the plot of this one involves multiple genocide, omnicide and universecide events, even the little anime prologue video they made ends with implicit child death facing Titamon, which I mean, thank god they didn't just show us him coming through the portal and clubbing her Brother, but that IS what basically happens.

Pokemon's edgiest shit is "ooooh maybe there was a war before? we'll never tell you or show you though!"

Shouldn't be surprised at all, this was known before the game even released
Whoops. I never actually followed the game; I only noted this game after a lot of Pokémon fans glazed this game on YouTube.

I don’t know why you’d be surprised, since Cybersleuth got a whole gaiden game released for it in Hacker’s Memory.
That is an even bigger surprise to me.

Hacker’s Memory was really cool, because it actually shows what happened in a few parts of Cybersleuth where the main character from that game wasn’t involved and explains how some things were resolved that created openings for the Cybersleuth main to get by some obstacles.

Sadly, Cybersleuth and the DLCs for it are delisted and can’t be redownloaded, so only Hacker’s Memory is available now unless you find Cybersleuth on disc.

Did not they release a complet edition of Cyber Sleuth?
Only in Japan.

The Japanese release of Hacker’s Memory for PS4 included Cybersleuth, since only the Vita version was released there initially.

The DLCs for Cybersleuth were just some bonus Digimon, but without them, your save file is unusable if you uninstall the game.

I have it on PS4 and went to show it to a friend, and I couldn’t load my old save because I had the bonus creatures.

You can buy the complete edition of Cyber Sleuth on Steam.
Yeah, I was gonna say, I definitely have a complete edition with the DLC extras on Steam. It's not expensive to get either. There's also pirated copies floating around out there if you don't want to pay for it.

Cyber Sleuth is okay. It gets better in the latter two thirds of the game I think. Hacker's Memory is definitely a good ride though, and I can gladly recommend playing the two game set just for that alone.

This isn't true at all, PC and Switch both have the complete edition for global. I even have the complete edition on both platforms

https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/digimon-story-cyber-sleuth-complete-edition-switch/

both frequently go on sale for like $10 so it isn't worth paying full price
Yeah I recently just completed Cyber Sleuth on Steam so I have no idea what the other guy is about.

Taking a break though, CS got a little grindy towards the end. I actually love the mini Japan tour the game gives.
