I'm someone who quite enjoyed the PvP in Diablo 2 so reading this is a revelation to me. They put PvP in the mobile game, but not in Diablo 3 at launch. Every post you make in this thread fuels my hatred for this piece of shit company, and that's not a slight to you my dude.

So Blizzard is resorting to the typical mobile game ad strategy, to advertise Diablo Immortal...

Any gamers playing PROJECT DIABLO 2? Season 6 starts at ~6pm GMT.

I have played four ladders so far and enjoyed each of them. Doubt I will ever buy D2R.
i just installed the launcher and stuff to check it out since i'm done with POE this league, never played it before though, mapping system seems cool

anything imperative i should know going into it?

edit: lol 6 roll backs due to server crashes tt

That's pretty unfortunate, I got rolled back a lot last season but not this one. Suppose its too late now but what I often do when I get to an important point or drop an important item is just save/quit and go back to character select, that makes sure your stuff is saved for good and can't be rolled back. - Roll backs only happen at season start in my experience though, I've never once had it beyond say the first couple of days.

Tips for Diablo 2 vanilla players for pd2, the different shaded part of your inventory is for charms. You can craft items search, "pd2 item crafting" + there's a ton more cube recipes, including stacking and unstacking runes/gems. Again, in good fashion the entire pd2 wiki is down as of posting since someone else is handling the wiki. They added shared stash, although "P" is that characters personal stash. There's a lot more. Also you can select a loot filter from the launcher but I'm not sure which one is best.

For the most part every build that works in Diablo 2 works in PD2. And if you mess up or don't like your choices Akara in act1 lets you reset your character anyhow. (Just don't shift click your attributes when you're putting them back in or you might end up dumping everything into vitality, ask me how I know)

Gonna necro this thread, but I got an itch to play Diablo 2. Thing is, I haven't played it since that awful demake dropped, and I know it's a mandatory downgrade for everyone ala Warcraft 3. Naturally, I don't want to play that one.

Thankfully, I still got my ancient disk set and it's working. My question is this: Is there a good way around Battle.Net so I can play this offline? A crack or something, there probably is one, might as well ask.

You should be able to play versions 1.13 and 1.14 with either cracks or using your CD keys. If you want to use an older version just get the patches from the Plugy website. And also install the Plugy mod as it' still the best way to play Diablo II single player. The mod gives you shared stashes, unlimited stash space, all rune words, all bosses and online events, and other quality of life fixes.

Gonna recommend Project Diablo 2, it's a mod but essentially goes for a Vanilla+ experience.

A lot of changes, but I feel generally tries to keep the original content of the game, just making a lot more of the skills balanced to each other, plus more later game content.

Been looking at PD2 as my next D2 play through. Saw some videos on how to get it working on a Steamdeck. Seems like a near project that gives the game quality of life changes it needs.

It's more adding content in spirit of the game mod than a light Vanilla+ QoL mod.

A lot of the skills are tweaked to make them more viable, but I don't think any are radically changed(all the skill trees will look the same, and mostly work close to the same), a basic loot filter is built in, resolution options that alone are worth playing over Vanilla, there is a lot of content added for the late game, including more ubers, new locations, and a nephalim rift style of randomly generated maps with modifiers that is pretty good(including the option to do fewer stronger mobs with higher drop rates if your build is better at single target damage). I've missed a season or two so there is probably more.

But its nothing like Median XL that reworks to characters to be almost unrecognizable(and generally less fun imo), adds map hacks, infinite scrolls(which is kind of a QoL to me) faster run speeds, new mobs and mob layouts, new abilities for vanilla bosses.

So bringing the topic to Resurrected…

Did they completely neuter the difficulty in Resurrected compared to the original Diablo 2? I mean it was never a terribly difficult game, but if you were running a hardcore character you at least had to think a little on what to do and how to plot your build. Might just be me but it feels like Resurrected practically holds your hand throughout the game.

It's literally the same underlying game barring a few UI tweaks.

Completely? No. But the game is much easier now. Drop rates are easier especially with Terror Zones. There are tons of new items meant to make the game easier at all difficulties. There are no more experience penalties so you can get to level 99 without much effort. Some skills have been buffed massively to the point where certain builds are now completely broken. Certain enemy attacks have been nerfed.

The game is so much easier than Lord of Destruction. And online the economy is still completely busted due to bots running around endlessly farming runes. The PC ladders are basically majority bots at this point. So trading is lopsided and imbalanced.
