Seeing as I can't play the game here, I too have been watching his streams just to see the dumpster fire for myself. I might jump back into some Diablo III with the next season, and forget this one exists. Don't think that'll be hard to do.
The game looks exactly the same as D3, to the point that it has copy/pasted full areas and enemies from D3 into the game.

Why would anyone play this on PC, D3 is a much better experience even before you add the toxic macro transactions on top.

I watched a little of asmongold whaling the game. He showed the difference in running ftp rifts, and running rifts he'd empowered with $20 worth of currency.

He got fuck all from the ftp rift, while the ptw rift got him a bunch of gems and other shit. It was disgusting to watch.

He was also running a ticker on screen, he was up to $500 spent after 30 minutes when I tuned out.

I also watched Quin69 whaling the game, and he's now up to over $7000 NZD (~$4600 USD) spent on the game, with 0 5/5 Star Gems obtained.

Streamers are cancer, but I'm glad they're taking the hit for everyone to show how MTX are even more cancer.

My coworker has been raving about Immortal and keeps trying to get me to download it. No fucking way am I wasting my time on a pay to win trash heap when there’s so many better hack and slash games out there. He insists “no bro! You don’t need to put in a dime to compete!” But he also spends roughly $200 a week on Raid Shadow Legends so yeah, not listening to you pal.

I remember when everyone was making fun of Diablo immortals announcement there was one awfully smug cunt that was white knighting blizzard for about a week saying shit like "they're catering to a different audience" and shit like that. Now that we know it's basically gonna cost you a house to actually get a passable build I really wish I could see his reaction to this shit.

You'd think Elden Ring's success would probably hit the head to these developers that mobile games + games-as-a-service are not the path to the future, yet here we are again.

First Genshin and now this. At this rate the governments of the world will put Videogaming on a leash.

The pay-to-play games, that also use F2P game microtransactions, i.e. Gran Turismo 7, are also concerning.

They get to lose players and turn the game into shit through playercount (i.e BF2042), F2P has ease of access, meaning only Competition can stiffle a F2P game's success.

For every one person talking trash about these shitty games as a service/gacha games and refusing to take part there's 3 people giving them $100s per month.

Elden Ring may be a way better game but it alone will never make the same amount of money genshin/popular mobile game of the week makes in just a year or two. At least not without 2 more entries, and 6 more DLCs over the course of ten years.

The rot has set in and the only way to win the game is to pretend it doesn't exist.

I'd love to pretend that it never exists but when you have a bunch of real-life faggots outside bragging about their gacha pulls and you hear it as background noise, it will never go away.

this is why i hate asmongold. he says his against these kind of systems in games but more than happy to contradict himself by giving them money.

"but i waste my money to prove a point and so you dont have too"

still retarded and i still hate you.

i get what you mean but when you have people like DPS willing to throw away fifty-thousand to a shitty WWE mobile game to be "the very best", its hard to ignore it.

no longer dose gamers care about actual skill or knowledge of the game, if you can buy yourself to be "the very best", you sure as fuck can bet people will do it.

Agreed 100%, as much as people freak out about mtx and declare they will never play games with them in it, the devs don't care as the ones who do spend cancel us out.
I found this quick clip of a Black Desert Online whale, which really is nothing compared to stories I've heard about BDO- https://clips.twitch.tv/TrustworthyImpartialMilkLitty
An didn't DSP spend $50k on a stupid wrestling game?

I don't even feel sorry for people who get sucked into this shit anymore, it's just pure financial darwinism.

Sounds like Rhykker to me. Guy is a fucking mega blizzard shill. Funny enough though this disaster is too much for even him to defend.

Going to be an unpopular opinion but I am enjoying the game. Its a fun time waster that I have been playing each morning before work starts. I log in, do some bounties and some rifts, and log out. That being said I have some pretty severe grievances.

Battlepass ranks are the most efficient way to level, you get close to a million XP for each BP level, I wish I could reliably grind paragon just doing rifts, but instead I have to focus on the BP.

Theres a lot of systems I just do not understand. I have a handful of gems from doing rifts, as well as runes. Should I turn the runes into more gems? Should I level up my current gems? The gems are the whale portion of the game so I really dont want to waste what I have.

No cross server is pathetic, and its all about the MTX. Its easier to be number 1 spender if you are confined to one server right?

Account progression basically doesnt exist. All unlocks are for one character, railroading you into choosing a main early.

The crests. Theres no getting around that they are both expensive and extremely helpful to character progression. 10 purple crests is 10 gems and 30 runes per run. You can also sell the gems you don't want on the market for platinum. If the power you got from the gems wasnt as high I dont think people would mind, but the gems give an absurd amount of stats and benefits. Also spending money only guarantees the gems drop, it doesnt guarantee a 5 star, so you gotta spend a hellacious amount to get there.

No Druid.

All in all its a D3lite with a lot of ways to spend money. If you can ignore the MTX you can probably get a few hours of mindless fun out of it.

I wish I could just play classic D1 and D2 (maybe with better resolution). D3 is like cancer to me.

Diablo 1 and 2 had this dark, gothic, bleak look and feel, where everything was tainted by demons... and D3 looks like a League of Legends knockoff to me. Now this new abomination comes out. It's so frustrating, I want my grimdark Diablo back man :(

D2 just had such amazing atmosphere and polish, the music and the loot drop sounds give such a nostalgia buzz.

I doubt there will be anything like it made again, Indies could come close with gameplay but the aesthetics and polish won't be there.

You can. GOG has, and regularly puts on sale (in fact, it's on sale at the time of me posting this), a modern-day system-functional version of Diablo 1 and the Hellfire expansion.

There is also, debatably, the Diablo 2 remaster, which does keep said aesthetics for the most part and even has the option to switch back to the original graphics, but mileage may vary, because it is receiving newer rebalances and gameplay changes to accommodate current-day competitive Ladder and PvP play, with talks of NEWER content being added on top of the base game + Lord of Destruction in the future. Possibly even a new Act.

It's no coincidence that as soon as the nigger cattle start getting into video games it starts to turn to shit. Lest we forgot that the same shit happened to the internet. It's also hard for developers not to just say fuck it and make shitty freemium games when they're going to have 100x the return on investment. The fact that it's the shell of blizzard doing this is the most black pilling part.

The game mechanics overhaul in the D2 remaster is something I can really do without tbh. But I guess it's the best shot I have to play D2 again...

Thing is, I expect that game to be ruined by modern garbage politics being shoved into future expansions, if they already toy with the idea of adding stuff.
Fuck my donkey. We've reached a point where people adding content to an old game makes me less interested in said game.
