I mean, I could see it as that originally, as I feel almost like the line of logic itself isn't the issue. It's what they packaged along with it. It was quickly tied to identity, which is anything but private. In theory, being a weird cuck or a horrible faggot in your bedroom wouldn't effect wider society if the shame tied to identifying with those things was still securely in place. But, by tying personal identity to people's weird sex shit you now make it socially "bad" to shame and thus the shame component slowly filters away as society continues to move and new generations are fed into the system.

Bringing shame back, in general, is a necessity. It would fix a lot of the easily identifiable issues, though would take time. As some people now are just naturally shameless.

Anything with kids or marriage with gays (including lesbians) though is a 50/50 shot whether its legitimate or a weird power play thing that turns into abuse. i.e. Sexual abuse like a lot of gay fathers, or physical/emotional abuse like a lot of lesbians. Though sadly this also stems from the general system of child care when the state is involved and how abuse is overlooked even in straight adoptive households, or natal parents abuse their kids to the point of death and CPS knew the warning signs and did nothing. The entire thing needs to be made better, and an easy start on the deviancy front is just not allowing non-traditional homes adopt children. But we shouldn't stop there in terms of protecting kids.
