Keep in mind, he's a millenial. part of millenial humor is the whole random and or offensive joke. So yes, there is an attempt at a joke. But as Robin Williams showed us, you fuck up the joke you come off as a scary creep.

The joke is "I said a random safe edgy thing. Funny right? Who could have predicted that randomness." Just didnt occur to him that it might be too far, or too fucked up, or it might be taken as a reflection of his state of mind.

I'm just holding Dev to his own standards. If he demands conservatives be taken seriously when they make jokes, so should Dev. It's also a noticeable pattern that those who deny there's any conspiracies to groom children, and even joke about it, tend to layer get arrested for having terabytes of CSAM and/or get caught trying to solicit children. Dev may as well put a pizza emoji in his bio.

When he makes a joke about mentally abusing an ex’s child I can see it’s at best, gay retard brinksmanship. And the only reason he’d be doing that is to appeal to gay retards.

Robin Williams did a bunch of comedy and stand up along with wholesome movies. He did however, also do a series of horror movies. His acting was pretty good in them too. Its what helped people start to notice that if you're a very good comedian, you tend to be pretty good in horror too, and this trend was noticed long before Key and Peele did their thing. Basically Comedy and horror are all the same thing, just taken to different degrees.

Think of it like this. There are a number of verbal responses a human has to outside stimuli. Screaming when in pain, crying when sad, yawning when tired, ect ect. Laughter is the brains response to when it encounters a situation it doesn't understand or cant process. It's why random humor exists. The brain is confused by the random things happening and it laughs. On a more serious note this is also why people in extreme situations or experiencing trauma often laugh. The classic case being a soldier laughing in hysterics after having survived an artillery's barrage or some kind of explosion. The brain is unable to understand whats going on at some level so laughter is produced. Good comedy is when a situation is presented in which the brain is at a loss for the acceptable response for a situation while at the same time understanding its not in danger. Thats why its impossible to have nearly non offensive comedy, or why a repeated joke doesn't land. After repeating it a few times the brain has had time to process the correct response. Robin Williams understood this and also understood that if you push things further then you leave the territory of humor and enter the territory of creepy and fear. Which is shy comedy is so hard to pull off. You have to hit this very narrow area on the spectrum. Its also why its harder to get smart people to laugh, because the higher Iq, the better the brain is at analyzing info, the harder it is to hit that subconscious confusion spot.

Dev's 'Joke' is a wonderful example. Take a subject. In this case an Ex and the Ex having a kid. Say something taboo and that will get people's mind into a confused state. In this case, he's going to fuck the kid for revenge. Had he pulled off the joke, many people laugh. However, for the non retarded among us, no one gets confused about the socially acceptable and morally correct response to talking about a child and how much you look forward to fucking it in the future. Thus he over shot that zone and landed rather directly into the creepy zone.

And again, Williams was the one that helped show people this by taking what could have been jokes for one of his sets and instead over emphasizing certain aspects and changing the timing up to induce horror.

I'd say he's been suffering the consequences just fine. He's alienated most of his friends, the ones he currently has are all snakes in the grass who will betray him whenever it will benefit them, and most critically his financial situation is teetering on destitution as a result of him deliberately sabotaging his channel to spite his own audience. It might be cathartic to hear that he's gotten his ass kicked or arrested, but that would just give him a victim complex. Watching him wither on the vine is more satisfying, because he has nobody to blame but himself.
