IMO, probably because of the same reason a lot of twitter/bluesky/Tumblr/etc. users get assmad if you disagree with them online.
Online is really the only thing they've got going for them and their ego, and anything that dents that ego, like disagreement over their takes or anything going "you're wrong" that isn't in a 'respectful way', will set them off. When there's nothing real you can point to having built up IRL, online is all you've got.
