I have a been of a different perspective on this since as Plato thought debates are just areas for sophists to use rhetoric to persuade people instead of actively working towards the the truth, mentiswave has a good video on this. So to me Dev malding about Sargon not debating the left is just Dev wanting to the opportunity for Sargon to "proven" wrong to his audience. It's nothing more then a game for political favor not a chance to learn and grow.

Isn't that essentially what I'm saying? If there ever was a time when people would debate with the intention of changing their minds or compromising in the hopes that a better tomorrow could be found, that's not the time we live in. We don't even live in a time where we can PRETEND that that's what we want. It's essentially Roof Korean politics now. Or, it's always been Roof Korean politics and now it's just obvious to more people.

Yea were pretty much on the same page. It's become more blatant that debates are just a way to score on the enemy team where once they may have been seen as a potential place for dialogue.

That's the basic problem with Deep Debates here too. It's always a place to lay traps and I can see why echo chambers became the norm everywhere else.

It's nice and all that you guys have been discussing the Satanic Panic and all sorts of other political matters in this thread. However I think a post about Dev is necessary to keep this thread on topic. So here are some funny things I found on Dev's X profile.

Dev reposts the warhawk Liz Cheney's misinfor about Russia and Ukraine. I found this quite funny as Dev "believes" January 6th to be a coup attempt by Republicans to take down democracy, and Liz Cheney likely helped give Dev his "evidence" to support his belief, because she coached witnesses into giving falsified testimonies regarding J6.

Context, the video posted by the Community Notes and Violations account is a video of Trump telling J6 protestors to go home instead of walking into the Capitol. The video was taken down within 5 minutes which meant there were people there who would have heeded his words, that didn't, because Trump was censored by X. Dev then brings up the alternative slate of electors from Arizona. Screenshot_20250303_213919_X.jpg

Other than that there's not much of interest in my eyes. Maybe I will write more speculative fiction about this cow. But for now I bid goodbye and head back to USPG2.

He's not capable of assessing the war properly.
I don't think that he can separate the desire to help Ukraine win from the ability to actually make them win.
To him, anything that isn't an attempt to help Ukraine win is a betrayal of Ukraine and an abandonment of a totally-winnable war.

There's this weird, retarded gray area that all sorts of progressives / institutionalists / neolibs / neocons have been aiming for during this war, where they think that we can give Ukraine enough support to make them somehow beat Russia, but not so much support that we freak out Russia and start World War 3.

Dev, like the rest of these people (which includes most European heads of state right now) doesn't get that this is a Venn diagram where the circles don't overlap. You can't thread this needle. The Russians have enough nukes to end the world, we don't have the power to wipe them out before they could launch if they felt pressed to, and if they do start getting pushed back, then the Russians will just view the Ukraine war as even more dire than they already did. They will never agree to just meekly accept defeat in what they view as an existential war.

Any amount of support (were it even feasible to provide, or possible to manufacture in time) that would be enough to beat Russia would also be enough to cause a world war.

But Dev doesn't get that, so we're all just pussies and traitors for not backing Ukraine to the hilt and cheering them on as they lead an entire generation of their own youth to slaughter.

I find it vile on a level that Dev could never understand that he wants to be an "imperialist" with someone else's empire.
He wants to direct how that empire behaves, and get credit for being virtuous for having the right opinions about it, and get credit for being based for that empire shaping the world in the "right" way, when it's NOT EVEN HIS FUCKING EMPIRE.
It's not his or his people's money and resources and population and future that's being put at stake. But he still wants us to do what he wants.

2)Zelensky thought if he signs deal Trump will continue Biden policy of funding this war until Zelensky runs out of Ukrainians.When Trump said he would not do that Zelensky refused sign it. And then he said he will and than again he will not and once again that he will....
3) Last week he was claiming he will sign the deal. But when he was invited to come and sign it in person . He last minute changed his mind and thrown the scene. Terms were already agreed in advance what happened in friday was just meant to be formality.
 
All Dev is good for is being used as some sort of measuring apparatus for the people he regularly interacts/interacted with.

For example: Sitch & Adam.
Between:
- their warhawking for Ukraine at any cost, and post hoc rationalizations of that.
- trying to rehab John “Brianna” Wu into one of the “good troons”
- “leave the million dollar sex pest alone!” guarding for Destiny in his worst moments (though they’re trying to lift their foot off the gas now that he’s in legal trouble).
- Retarded understanding of audience capture, and going full retard on their audience (albeit more occasionally than Dev) to avoid what they think it is.

I realized they weren’t tolerating a guy like Dev who came on their platform and lied, and ran things off topic. They were closer to kindred spirits with him. Although tbf, Adam did butt heads with him more times than others who’ve hosted parasite-Dev.

Maybe I overestimate the Russians, but I doubt they would chimp out due to losing the Ukraine war.
If NATO troops marched into mother Russia herself, yes, but not for simply supporting Ukraine.

The only chance of Ukraine winning is NATO troops on the ground, but I doubt any western nation has the political will (Trump-USA) or the human resources (West-Europe) to go that far.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't Trump only charged with insurrection during his second impeachment? I watched that process, and I don't remember any of these documents being presented during those hearings, just a handful of doctored tweets from people who weren't Trump and a bunch of equivocation from the US Virgin Islands rep about how he was a threat and a danger to democracy and all the usual hand-wringing bullshit. So this comes off to me as Dev twisting facts to dunk on some no-name rightoid on Twitter - something that most sane people would consider bad faith.

It has long been the dream of YouTuber Short Fat Otaku AKA Dev to wage war against nuclear powers. Sadly Short Fat Otaku is physically unable to walk to the nearest recruiting center and thus is unable to participate in his life long dream of defending foreign countries against Russians. With your help there may be a way for this dream to be realized.


This petition calls upon the Government of Canada, the Government of Ukraine, and more specifically the Ukrainian Armed Forces to draft and send Dev over to Ukraine to fulfil his purpose and allow him to accomplish more than he ever has in life before.


Though his time on the frontlines may indeed be very brief it is hoped it will also be very bright as are all explosions. Thank you in advance to all who sign this petition.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it a thing that the further east you go the more committed the governments and people are to NATO? I don't think I ever heard of Poland or Romanian skirting their obligations or downsizing their militaries while asking for US bases.
