Dante’s missions on DMD are fucking me up. Did the enemies have this much health on that mode before? Should I just burn Sin DT instead of trying to hold it for QuadS?
Also, Fury is already better than Blitz. At least you have more options of how to deal with it; though I question what V’s answer will be on Bloody Palace. Dante can use Cerberus or Balrog to parry out. Nero can Shuffle or Rawhide to parry, DT explosion, use Ragtime to lock him down, or just hit him with a some charged revolver rounds. Does V have something in his tookit to reliably deal with it?

But on the second thought, you can charge Griffon's sphere attack and try to catch him or charge Shadow's hedgehog attack, though I'm not sure about "reliably", because V's minions do whatever they feel like.

For Dante use Balrog/Cavaliere. Cavaliere can usually autoparry attacks as long as the wheels are spinning and can stunlock smaller DTed enemies. Balrog can easily stun enemies and Real Impact (Swordmaster lvl 3, Lock-On + Back + Style while Balrog is ignited) melts lifebars. Jumping with it equipped can also knock Fury out of midair attacks.
And V has Lock-On + Back + Griffon and Shadow's charged attack. But yeah his mobility feels really limited for fighting them.
 
After just finishing the game a second time, I'm glad Capcom took this long to make it, because holy shit was it worth the wait.

With all the weapons Dante has now and how easy it is to switch between them and the four styles, I'm actually hyped to see all the skill videos from combo-autists trying to outdo each other.
 
So some info that has been datamined over the last few weeks:

Characters in DMC5 have a numerical value to determine who you play as. Nero is 1, V is 2, Dante is 3. If you change it to 4 however you get Vergil. This Vergil is incomplete but does have moves not in his boss fights. There's also lines referencing "PlayerVergil" and "LateUpdateVergil".

Interestingly there's also lines referencing "Bloody Palace Room" and "Bloody Palace Online". implying bloody palace will have a proper online mode where you team up with dudes. There's also been found references to something called "Divergence". There's little detail on that mode but the game refers to several levels a s"Divergent Point" to refer to levels that are parallel but focus on a single character, implying a mode where you can choose any character for any level. This is already possible in the game with the numeral trick and the only problem is level 3 as it has moments only Nero can cross with his arm.

finally, there's been references to a "Ladies Night" DLC. which implies playable Trish and Lady. Both of them were playable in the special edition of 4 and are modeled and in 5, but pretty sparingly. It likely wouldn't take much to get a full moveset for them both since they're defining weapons are part of dante to begin with.
 
If anything I would expect Vergil to drop with Bloody Palace since Capcom seems to have been enjoying an extra unannounced feature with RE2 twice. Probably just blind optimism but I'm almost certain he's gonna drop with it.

we;re getting some sort of announcement right before BP drops so it's not out of the question, though I personally think they'll announce vergil for some time in april ala Ghost Survivors.
 
Thats probably more likely, if they do add the mode to play as different characters for missions then it would make sense to drop him with that. Curious what they would do for Ladies Night if its not just a character pack. It would be neat if it got into what Lady, Trish and Nico were up to when they were grouped together, could add a few levels to fill in the "gaps". Its just hard to picture these as far and few barebones packs.
 
I know playable Vergil is looking pretty guaranteed, but I find it hard to believe they will add him as a free update with BP. I think its very likely he will be paid dlc.

Jesus 18 on Hell and Hell was rough I think it took at least 2 hours to beat it. All those wide attacks Shadow and Griffin have while trying to take jabs at Nightmare is just annoying. It seems like Heaven/Hell and Hell could be improved by switching from the orbs to just a three stock hit bar that gives you a shockwave to knock enemies and attacks away on your wakeup. Getting a full DT gauge is also a little bit much considering you can still get hit twice and be able to get an S. Having to take a knee for 5-10 seconds and not being able to just restart or get right back into it gets kind of infuriating when you know it was too early to get hit. Minor gripe but I feel like some minor touch ups could really improve it just to make it a smoother experience.

Or I could just not get hit I guess :roll:
 
DMC5 is a gold star game with two major downsides: one is V which is just personal preference and will probably get fixed with divergence, and the other is how long it takes to respond. If you're not using revives it takes 45 seconds to a minute to get another shot at the fight, not to mention having to thumb through different screens. I wish you could flip a switch to automatically respawn you when you die.
