Picked up the special edition on a sale because I can’t be arsed to mod shit. Holy shit not having air hike and enemy step is torture.

Its still canon in that it technically happened, story wise nothing is relevant and they changed when it takes place going between the anime and 4 instead of being the last. In the series recap in V it gets less time than the anime and the blurb they write for it has nothing to do with the plot of the game at all, other than "more demons show up but can't do shit".Is Devil May Cry 2 still "canon"? I was wanting to get back into this series but wondering if I should replay 2.
So it's a real "take it or leave it" situation. Its still canon in that it technically happened, story wise nothing is relevant and they changed when it takes place going between the anime and 4 instead of being the last. I thought it was really good aside from some wacky and bizarre enemy designs. So it's a real "take it or leave it" situation.
It's a shame DMC2 isn't a better game than it is because it did have cool art direction.
I always thought they should've brought the devil trigger customization stuff with the different effects and such into the sequels.I thought it was really good aside from some wacky and bizarre enemy designs.
That was my biggest problem with DMC5. Nero and Dante were fun to play as but V had boring gameplay so I didn’t like playing his missions. If we got Vergil instead though that’d make everything better.If/when we do get Devil May Cry 6, I'd like them to do the three-character campaign like in 5, but instead of V we have Vergil so the campaign remains consistently fun. Also I'd like to see Mundus return. He never really died to begin with and 4 had that Easter egg saying "Mundus lives."
I think V had some cool stuff to him with mixing the demons' moves together for crazy combos, but he did feel pretty unwieldy, and each time I started to adapt, there was a Nero or Dante section right after, so it never stuck.Devil May Cry 6 pls.

V really is a harsh adjustment compared to Dante and Nero. Its not bad, but it definitely sticks out. He's also not coming back (bittersweet since I loved his poetry quoting) since he was you know, Vergil's human half that he sliced from himself using Yamato. I don't really get what the hell happened there. Shouldn't Vergil have been stuck in the demon realm fighting Mundus? When did he get out after booted there by Dante in DMC3?I think V had some cool stuff to him with mixing the demons' moves together for crazy combos, but he did feel pretty unwieldy, and each time I started to adapt, there was a Nero or Dante section right after, so it never stuck.

I regretfully have not. I was a late comer to the series with 3, which as the North American version was just a bit too hard for me as a kid (yeah, yeah, skill issue, git gud, etc.), and by the time I came back to it I was a PC gamer, and the HD collection had some issues last time I tried to run it.Have you never played DMC1?
Then, the answer to your questions is in DMC1.I regretfully have not. I was a late comer to the series with 3, which as the North American version was just a bit too hard for me as a kid (yeah, yeah, skill issue, git gud, etc.), and by the time I came back to it I was a PC gamer, and the HD collection had some issues last time I tried to run it.
MGR is suppose to make you laugh. It's over the top crazy and it knows it. Kinda the same with Bayonetta, only I think they tried to get a little too serious in 2 and the time travel stuff was weird. With games like DMC, MGR and Bayonetta I'm not sure if me laughing is what they intended but those games are funny.
Look, some people just aren't awesome enough to handle a nanomachine powered Senator who played college ball ya know and can break the President in two with his BARE HANDS.MGR is suppose to make you laugh. It's over the top crazy and it knows it. Kinda the same with Bayonetta, only I think they tried to get a little too serious in 2 and the time travel stuff was weird.
It's still worth trying. The gameplay is the most simplistic in the series, but has an interesting story, great environments and music, plus some of the coolest scenes.I regretfully have not. Always? I get the very obvious jokes but there are other things in those games that are so funny, but I'm not 100% sure that some of the ridiculous things aren't intended to be badass when viewed with a japanese mindset.MGR is suppose to make you laugh. It's over the top crazy and it knows it. Kinda the same with Bayonetta, only I think they tried to get a little too serious in 2 and the time travel stuff was weird.
