Are there any preservation efforts to play D2 offline privately? I've had it lying around forever at this point.
not really no, people barely cracked D1 but the wonder if it's pure spaghetti code or how the layering shit works.
also i just noticed that a good chunk of my inventory is useless now, lol.

I stopped playing D1 og with none of the dlc's, (i got traumatized with the barebones game), so that means if you buy the game rn, you're thrown into basically the last 2/3rds of the 2nd game and you can't understand none of the story up at that point without having to watch some fag on yt summarizing it in 2 hours?

Yes, they removed the first 4 campaigns from Destiny 2. They have an ingame storyline screen but it offers like 1-2 sentences summarizing every DLC and season. I haven't made new characters but from what I've heard it's really bad. It starts you out doing the original Destiny 1 first mission now that the original starting campaign was removed, and after that is done you're thrown into the tower with little direction. Destiny has a simlar problem to Warframe where it's got shitty player onboarding which makes it harder to get into.

dumb question, if this ends on sale for 90% on steam or some shit, you think its worth to play? would there be a good kiwi base to play this? i don't think this would be fun single player.

read this thread, we aren't fucking playing this game again, go ahead lol enjoy.
I’m going to just for old times. The new update does have me interested, but after like, a year? Nah. D1 has better bones and replay value. It may be console only, 75 FOV, and 30 fps, but it feels better in its MM mode than I think D2 will.

lol no.
i just went back to check my shit again and the game desperately wants me to waste dosh on it, lol no get fucked faggots, i also need to check the game with my epic account as well because of the "free" anniversary pack they gave in there.

there is this weird thing going on with my D2 that the fps counter says 60fps but the gameplay seems to be on 15-25 frames out of nowhere
1779672120880.png
although on cinematics the count is at 30 fps no matter.
1779671832791.png
i guess it's related to asset streaming? my vsync is off but my frame limiter is at 60fps because ultra settings and all with a RadeonVII, altough i disabled film grain and blur, fuck that shit.

'dit
did all of the promotional dungeon and shieet, didn't even get my armor piece and got slapped with the pay up to play shit
1779672593223.png
lol no, get fucked bungie, eat shit and die.

i don't get what's with epic, i copied all of my steam files to epic install location and the fucking launcher straight up deleted the 100GB's of files to redownload it, like what the fuck timmy tencent? it's the same fucking game.

both of these items were sunsetted a long time ago when i stopped playing/carin
Exotics were not sunsetted, you mixing it with Destiny 1.
Datto's first video after the unsunsetting announcement was pretty much a minor meltdown about all of the vault cleaning videos he did
I believe he said that he is not going to apologize after destroying countless legacy guns since most of them were powercrept years ago. Which is true since adding tier loot, crafting, enchanted and innate perks etc. which is basically their way of hidden and soft sunsetting.

I had weird tism around the Vault as well. Not sure why, but I kept all high-stats Battlepass armor which like 50-60 items across 3 characters and never deleted them even though I never used them.

When Warhammer Online shut down, some people managed to make server emulator for very short period of the time which resulted in the Return of Reckoning private server. Maybe Destiny 2 is different, but there is small hope that someone would make server emulator and maybe even for older clients (pre-Beyond Light). I believe it is slow and boring process, but maybe with AI could be done in the faster way.

If you have group of friends and price is not big for you then it is worth for dungeons/raids. Dungeons are for group of 3 players (could be done solo, there are special emblems for doing it) and raids are for 6 player group (I think most encounters could be done with 4-5 players, some could be done even solo although it is super hardcore content). If you are not sure one dungeon and 3 raids are free, IMO for 0 dollars it is perfect content although you have to gear up a bit so have to interact with main game.

I would recommend to go through raids/dungeons without guides (unless you stuck) if you are going to play with friends. Most of them not super convoluted and figuring out the mechanics could be fun.

Exotic missions are quite good as well.

These images are enough to understand why it went to shit. A bunch of foids and fags with main character syndrome. The narrative team going from Joe and co. to foids explains why it went from grimdark "we are fucked fighting something way beyond us that we cannot comprehend", to turning characters like Osiris and Saint into sodomites and Anna Bray into queer Mary Sue. We went from characters like Toland The Shattered, a Sword Logic obsessed warlock who got himself killed by the song of Orix's daughters so he could be the first guardian to go to the throne world, to whatever the fuck that queer Nimbus is and aims to do. JFC...

It's very sad to see my favorite game ever going away. At the same time it's deserved. The game was being carried by it's core foundations that really intelligent developers and creative people put together several years ago. This is why I mostly played RaD and Dungeon content because that team clearly were those people and knew what they we're doing.

Destiny 2 released like abject garbage but after forsaken it constantly got better and better (despite really bad decisions being made) up until final shape which I do think as a whole was THE best version of Destiny we ever got. It was just the right amount of grindy fun, that I think was only possible because Joe Blackburn was leading the team and I think his vision of the game was the healthiest despite all the gay shit he allowed.

I will list some things that they really fucked up on

1) Making the story of the game really gay, there are more gay characters in destiny than straight ones

2) Close to #1, the shift from a larger meta narrative to a more focused character study especially in seasonal content, made the game really boring and gay. And it didnt give weight to anything I did.

3) Sunsetting & not even bothering to bring it back. It completely ruined the new player experience, the story and never made new people come into the game.

4) Making the game political & hiring DirtyEffinHippy

5) The portal and all of its associated systems

I'm not aware of this, you got them deets to share? I'd like to have a laugh.
I'm working from memory so cut me a bit of slack and toss some salt. DEH took over the community manager role after Deeg left due to the notorious doxx/pizza incident(conversation worthy topic). She was notoriously bad at communicating and didn't engage with the community like Deeg did. She would disagree with people on Twitter and start slap fights/block people. She basically didn't play destiny or games at all and barley posted anything destiny related outside of the TWAB/TWID. She would eventually suffer a mental health melty and went on a van/backpacking/traveling "working" vacation. I can't remember much else other than she spent more time on "vacation" for metal health while in the role of community manager than actual days "working".

And Guided Games was never that good of a system, and I don't think it would have been even if it had gotten more dev work. It was meant to be Destiny's replacement for an LFG system, but instead of supporting full PUGs, it only worked for clans that needed to find another player or two for their raid. Thus, the implementation was very clunky: the group would all have to be in the same clan, you'd need at least four people, you'd have to wait for people to get matched with you with no way to tell if they were any good (or if they even knew what a raid was), and the whole thing could go tits up at any point if they ended up sucking. No way to browse a list of groups, no way to specify what you were trying to do, just an overall shitty feature that never left beta (seriously, if you hovered over the nodes on the Director, it still said "beta" until it was finally removed). This was back when Bungie was trying to do more with clan support, with the idea that Guided Games would help clans find new members to recruit. Yeah, that clan push also went nowhere after D2's first year.
This is another brainchild of one of the few identifiable destroyers of Destiny: M.E. Chung.

Somehow catapulted into a "Social Lead" position, this woman is the identifiable antithesis of everything that is fun about multiplayer gaming. I remember often wondering who the fuck thought making voice chat opt in was a good idea. It seemed like normal devs were neutral to negative on it, and the end result was kneecapping any organic interaction in your games apart from teabagging and dancing (see: Destiny). Enter M.E. Chung.

At this timestamp of the D2 reveal, she introduces the Guided Games concept, and I remember finding it overcomplicated and unintuitive, which is - to no one's surprise - the death of a live feature. You will notice in her intro that the implied purpose of this feature is to somehow let you meet new people without ever having a chance at negativity. This is further backed up in this article, where she describes her thought process further. This article has several choice quotes, such as:
When we talked about what was the right thing for Destiny, we said, “Well, first and foremost, we have to make sure it’s a welcoming experience.” It’s a community-building game, so matchmaking was never the right answer for us.
Even Guided Games, by definition, is matchmaking. Destiny had matchmaking through its entire lifespan. Only Bungie can deny that their systems are matchmaking, much in the same way they denied Destiny was an MMO (they insisted it was a "shared world shooter"). I genuinely think they thought they could change the way these systems work by trying to redefine them. So this quote proves she's a retard.

When we started talking about it … I have like rose-colored glasses when I think about the old server days. I don’t know how often you played games back then, but Counter-Strike was important to me in my life and Warcraft 1 and 2, 3, like hanging out on Battle.net servers and whatnot.

I loved playing on those things, but I over time conditioned myself (as a woman) to only use text chat, never use voice. I had a very neutral gamer tag. It’s funny because people would talk about, “Oh, it wasn’t that toxic back then.” I’m like, “No, it was. It’s just there were less female gamers back then, so you probably didn’t see it as much."
I love the political double speak in this section. "I loved these games, of course. I just hated everything about them."
Over time, I kind of realized over time how did I get through that? A) I had the right mix of personality to be addicted to this feeling of proving people wrong. But server communities were beautiful because that was a way for people to sort of manage the kind of communities that they felt like they belonged to, and they were able to really … That was a way that I felt safe, right?
"Feeling safe" is the eternal weasel word of women. And more importantly: they thought server communities were so important, but never implemented anything like a server community.

A bit of a sperg to close: Conflict in social interaction is normal. But so, too, is learning to deal with it. The death of society is everyone having the choice to avoid uncomfortable or uncontrolled social situations, because people always choose what's comfortable over what's right for them. One of the lasting organic ways to meet people online has now been cut out of our society by a bunch of crying gender studies women who invaded spaces they were never truly part of. I'm not joking about online interaction in games, either; I've made several lifelong friends by randomly meeting people in games, more than any other online system.

And they killed it. Every single large game has been systemically cleansed of any way to interact with people. Yes, you avoid hearing people say the dreaded nigger word, but you've also had any chance of actually feeling like a human while consuming your pixelslop torn away. You live in an empty world with no conflict, but also no according chance for growth or change. Our society is being plunged into a terminally online, conflict averse hell, and your chances to meet someone truly different, to be surprised, to actually feel something deeper, have been torn away by millennials. I'm glad you don't have to hear slurs anymore. I hope dying alone is worth it!

PL: I'm part of several friend groups of millennials who all met online, organically, through video games. Somehow these people are the happiest at the removal of organic interaction in games. Say what you will about boomers pulling the ladder up at the end of the Industrial Revolution - the millennials pulled up the ladder of the Information Age. They made all their friends, had fun in an organic, never before seen internet... and then ruined it once they had theirs.

Don't forget when she was canned she went on a Xanderhal type melty "I'M GONNA BE HOMELESS AHHH"

one is nihilistic faggot shit and the other is actual faggot shit, making them equal in the faggoty shittiness.
it seems destiny was fucked either way as it was infiltrated by people that hate gamers and want to make games for non-gamers since they are a bunch of hacks that can't make it into literature or movies...

although i could not stop myself from saying faggot whenever saint-14 or osiris said something, also shaxx, he is a huge faggot too.
