Sorry for the double post but kinda big news. Parsons has bailed out. The retard train guy has replaced him.
Replacing trash with trash.
you ran out of edit timer too? same shit happened on the starfield thread for me as i found the gay jew in the colony ship thing.
but seriously i wonder how borderlands 4 will play out being basically destiny but... well, i mean destiny is already gay and gearbox are massive faggots too, destiny is online only but borderlands has coop and singleplayer...
if the movement of some or all characters in borderlands 4 is exactly like destiny classes then i hope it mercy kills them.

Sounds to me like Pete sees the writing on the wall and knows things are going to go downhill quickly, so he's getting out while he can still get a decent golden parachute. That's not the action of a man who thinks that Marathon is going to be a wild success, or that Destiny is going to turn around anytime soon.

Case in point, the latest weekly update confirmed that the devs have absolutely no idea what's going on, as their solution to the grind being awful is to...make the grind more awful. To summarize the Ash and Iron changes:
  • Raising the power cap to 550, because we really needed more pointless grind. But hey, at least you'll eventually get T5 gear!
  • Ultimate difficulty at 451, because what we also really needed was yet another difficulty tier.
  • Using your most powerful gear to determine reward bonus instead of what you have on...except they kept the 10% score bonus from new gear, so there's still no point in using anything else.
  • Adjusted time limits, not just for activities where the bonus timer is too short, but also for ones that they think are too long, adding difficulty where it isn't needed.
  • Locked Loadout was giving too much of a score bonus because most activities can indeed be completed with a single loadout, so they're nerfing it. They are adding another modifier that combines it with Avant Garde with a higher multiplier, which I imagine most people will use instead.
  • Other loadout restriction modifiers will be added, though not for matchmade activities, restricting you to a specific category of weapons (and also new armor only for some reason). I don't know why this is going to be a thing.
  • Every pinnacle activity is getting its rewards reduced, because apparently people were earning too much gear for their time. Meanwhile, some fireteam activities are getting a slight reward boost, despite the fact that they just reward the usual portal gear that people have more than enough of.
  • You'll have to take Prime Engrams to the tower to have Rahool decrypt them again, because Bungie couldn't be fucked to figure out a way to make them actually stand out more when they drop. Enjoy the tedious load in to the Tower every time you get an engram drop because it's the only way to level! ETA: Apparently the backlash was so harsh that they reverted this plan already. So that's something.
  • New activities in fireteam ops include a brand new activity (presumably in the Plaguelands), two more battlegrounds, three strikes, the Season of Plunder expeditions (barf), and Tomb of Elders. New pinnacle ops include three dungeon lairs (more info to come, presumably chopped up dungeon areas), as well as the Presage and Avalon exotic missions. Later on, Onslaught, the Coil, and Tomb of Elders will move to pinnacle ops to provide a matchmade option for pinnacle ops gear.
  • Solo ops are getting a one power level nerf to drops because they were too efficient at rewarding gear. Don't want people power leveling too quickly, after all!
  • Adding in a few more GM conquests to let you finish gilding the Conqueror title, as well as two ultimate conquests for hitting rank 11. You can also replay conquests, but you just get normal loot for it, so I don't see why anyone would bother. (Couldn't even just make it a nice weekly bonus, huh?)
  • And in the future, more tuning passes (read: nerfing the best methods if people are still getting loot "too quickly), a boost if you're running fireteam/pinnacle activities solo, and other things.
I have never understood why Bungie is so hellbent on loot being so frustratingly scarce in this game. It only stands out all the more with the new system, where they're trying to induce a Diablo-style seasonal grind with a reset every six months. What they fail to comprehend is twofold: that seasonal gameplay is optional in Diablo and not the only way to play the game, and that seasonal leveling is supposed to be fast. You level quickly and get showered with loot because the goal is to push as deep as possible before the season ends, and you can't do that if you're spending most of your time in the slow and boring parts. You rush to the endgame, score some cool stuff quickly, and then start again on the next difficulty level to see how far you can push this time.

Trying to bolt that kind of system onto Destiny isn't going to work if they keep the same loot philosophy they've had for over a decade now (hell, it used to be worse; remember running VoG and getting only shards for completing an encounter?). No wonder everyone's been playing solo ops ad nauseum for the past couple months when it gives the most rewards for your time. To put it into perspective, the new raid could take you an hour, maybe more, and in that time you'll get something like four drops (oh, and only once a week). In an hour, you could run a fast solo op easily a dozen times, potentially giving you twenty or more pieces of loot, all of them increasing the power of your character. Loot is so stingy that of course players are going to go for the option that gives the most, no matter how dull or tedious it is.

And Bungie's solution? Nerf anything that gives "too much" loot instead of making more of it drop everywhere.

These people are morons. I said they needed to course correct in the first couple weeks if they wanted any chance of recovering this shipwreck, and instead they're just doubling down on every stupid decision. No wonder Pete's fucking off.

Destiny no fun zone.webp

The backpedaling continues: they're walking back the nerfs to the power level of solo ops drops and the number of pinnacle ops drops. Again, it's something, but these are really just bandaids over the real problem that the entire Portal grind system that they spent God knows how many dev hours on was a terrible idea from the start.
I came to this realization just a couple days ago, that for whatever faults the system had before, it at least functioned. Everyone started at the power floor, you ground 150 levels to the soft cap by doing anything for a couple days, then forty levels to the powerful cap by doing activities that rewarded powerful drops for a few weeks, then the last ten levels to the pinnacle cap by doing solely pinnacle activities for a little longer. Even though you only had a limited number of drops per week, and it could really be annoying not to get a drop in the last slot you needed, it also meant that you could tap out of the grind for the rest of the week and do something else. Pinnacles also came from a large variety of sources, easy and hard, so players of any skill level could progress to the cap. Meanwhile, you were getting artifact levels to help boost you a bit higher in the meantime just by playing the game and doing challenges, and prime and exotic engrams could occasionally give a slight boost if they dropped in a low slot.

Did it have issues? Sure. The biggest one was that power was mostly meaningless outside of gatekeeping your access to new activities until you hit an arbitrary threshold. Past a very small point, there really is no "outleveling" in Destiny; it's not like WoW where you can go back to a raid boss from three expansions ago and kill it by sneezing on it. At best, you can be on par with the enemies you fight, or maybe you can make it a little easier if you outlevel the activity slightly, but it's never extreme; there's a reason the Craftening was such a big deal, because we actually got to feel absurdly powerful for a brief, shining moment. It was also annoying to have your artifact level reset every few months, forcing you to regrind to get to where you were just a day before. On top of that, raising the power caps was also pointless, adding more grind for no reason. The bright side was that they'd seemed to be taking feedback into account and moving towards a future without power levels in the tail end of Joe Blackburn's time as game director, what with Lightfall having no seasonal power cap increases and more activities that set you at a fixed level, as well as fireteam power and gear levels being account-wide. I was really looking forward to a Destiny that didn't have a pointless grind standing in the way of what I wanted to do.

And then along comes Tyson Green with the Portal, and everything's gone to shit. You still have the soft cap which is "permanent," not like that really matters since veteran players will keep starting at the same floor while any newbies will have to put in more effort to grind before they can catch up to them. Then you have a couple hundred levels of doing the same few activities from years ago over and over again, while the rest of the game has been made utterly irrelevant. In particular, dungeons and raids, the pinnacle activities Destiny is known and praised for, are simply pointless to run. Leveling has wild swings in difficulty, where every few levels it seems to go from mind-numbingly easy to soul-crushingly hard and back again. You also have to do these on the hardest difficulty you have access to because otherwise it's a waste of time. There's also very little point in playing with others, since the Portal gives inconsistent rewards based on individual power levels, and there's no way to help boost another player up to getting rewards faster. An MMO where you're encouraged to play alone? Revolutionary!

And then if you manage to reach the powerful cap, you then get the joy of having your leveling speed cut down by 90% as you have to rely on rare drops to give you any chance of a power increase all the way to the pinnacle cap! But of course, they're also adding another hundred levels of power to grind in a couple weeks, so if you wait, you have the pleasure of having the 400-450 grind be just the same as the 200-400 grind instead of a nightmare, and then another fifty levels after, only to then get the fifty levels of soul-crushing pain after that! Isn't this fun?

And all for what? Slightly better versions of gear you've already seen drop a million times as you sweated in the Caldera mines simply to unlock the privilege to get access to those drops? Loot that trickles into your hands before almost assuredly getting deleted because RNG still sucks in this game and drop #100 could be no better than drop #1? I'm glad we lost crafting for this!

Of course, the best part is that everything resets in three months. All the effort you put in, gone. No ten level increase here; nope, you're back to grinding out another 250 levels of power doing the exact same shit again. And you're gonna have to do it because all the gear you spent months acquiring will lose its New Gear bonus, handicapping your ability to progress unless you dump it and start grinding for the new stuff again. I can't see this blowing up in Bungie's face!

Oh yeah, and the raid is pointless too. That's fun. (They're updating the loot tiers and making it actually drop power upgrades, but man, I just don't even feel like bothering.)
tl;dr: These devs are fucking retarded. If they don't change any of this, I look forward to watching the population drop to basically nothing after the Renegades launch and reset.

They walked back even more shit in the TWID, but probably not gonna be enough to get people back. The player count is just collapsing at this point and it's hilarious to watch.

Rising seems like it's pretty good too and has some features people have been begging bungie to add for years but they were too lazy and incompetent to. So now they're legit getting embarrassed by a chink mobile game.

As anyone tried out Destiny Rising yet? I have played 2 campaign missions and it seems to be pretty solid for chink mobile game
i wondered if someone else played it too, also mandatory sperg about body/voice type shit, isn't this game made by chinks?

I would imagine this game having oversight from Sony & Bungie, and both have gone off the deep end

>bring back Plaguelands
>no SIVA

I don't even play anymore and I still feel rugpulled
They also replaced the Splicers with the fucking Red Legion, yes somehow they're still around in 2025 even though it feels like we've defeated them 8 million times.

Plaguelands also now seem to just be an activity area rather than a patrol zone.

Between that and these tone deaf updates they've been shitting out I feel like I'm actually done with the franchise for real this time. Haven't bought EOF and I have zero interest in the SW crossover.

Classic Bungo rugpull: finally announce something fans have been asking for for years, and then implement it in the most half-assed way possible. I got my hopes up only briefly when it was announced that this update would return to the Plaguelands, then I realized that it almost definitely wouldn't be anything near what I was hoping for. No patrol zone (Bungie can't even finish the OG Cosmodrome), no Devil Splicers (despite their mentioning Splicers again in EoF if memory serves), no SIVA (lol as if), no strikes, no Wrath of the Machine (do you even think they have the manpower left to handle porting another raid?). I figured it was going to be another basic activity and that would be that, and sure enough! At least there's an exotic quest...that they'll end up repurposing into the Portal either immediately or down the line as another mindless activity to grind for tiny power level bumps. And as much as I want to cope that the axe they showed in the trailer is a new exotic weapon...somehow I just know it'll be yet another rugpull like the scythe.

And the fact that they're making zero mention of any sort of course correction, no indication that they're even listening to the feedback they're getting that none of this is fun or engaging in any way, nor that players really don't want to have to start from scratch in a couple months and do the whole damn grind again just to get back to where they were...well, there's a reason my playtime has gone down a lot over the past couple months. Tone-deaf isn't even the half of it; they also go and announce a slew of nerfs to things that don't really need it, especially considering the state of the sandbox as it is where those are usually the only options worth taking.

It's honestly kind of impressive how many different ways Bungie has fucked up this series. It's never exactly the same way twice, which is an achievement in itself, I suppose. But every single time they start seeming like they're on the right track, they shit the bed and send the game spiraling down again. Remarkable.

I saw some people mention Destiny Rising, as much as I'll never pick up Destiny 2 again unless they remove Content Vault and do a full 180 (never going to happen), I do want to do some Destiny gaming.

Is Destiny Rising actually worth playing or is it too gacha/you need to fork over your money bish?

Considering it looks exactly like a desperate cash grab and attempt to farm money from children and chinks I would suggest doing what everyone should do with Destiny 2 and stay as far away from it as physically fucking possible.
Oh, it's made by fucking NetEase. This is chink dogshit don't waste your time.

Most people are saying Rising is great and scratches that Destiny itch. But that's a super low bar to jump over and it's still gacha shit.
