"Hey guys we know you are all having fun breaking our dead game, but you can only have fun in ways we prescribe even when the game is dead and the service is over so we're ruining your fun, get fucked."

Love Bungo.
Eh, reads more like "We know this is the last hurrah for everyone and we're reprising a bunch of content like everyone asked for. We'll disable this ability until we fix it so retards that can't learn mechanics don't instakill every boss and ruin the fun." to me.

you just said what he said in a extremely gayer way, it's june after all...
the hotfix reeks of fun policing and that's not even to mention the fags in the comments defending this retardation.

I've googled it and reddit post came up:

You are crazy son of a bitch :achievement:, the various sources say that only 0.1% players (~5k) have it, but I assume it is one who use various Destiny related websites.

Also I've found post which complains that this emblem is not counting as Iron banner emblem for the loot buff :story:
It was...certainly a time. Pretty much the only way I could easily grind kills was taking potshots on whoever I could while hoping my teammates could finish them off. It didn't help that I only really decided to go for the emblem during the second and final Iron Banner that season, so I had to do the majority of my kills then (I think I had maybe 700 of the required 2500 at the start of the second one). On the bright side, I didn't have anything else to do at that time, so it was basically just a constant grind of Iron Banner all week. When I hit exactly 2500, I spent the rest of the match not killing anyone, then went to get my emblem and never take it off.

(And yes, that was a bug when they first added Iron Banner reputation, but it got fixed.)
So do you still gotta buy a bunch of dlc or is it all included now?

How does a new player get all the gameplay dlc?
Yes and no. You can still buy DLC separately, but there is now one simple bundle that includes everything, Destiny 2: The Collection, so there's no real confusion there anymore. I dunno what the price will end up at (they said it would be permanently discounted to some degree), but it's currently $25 on Steam for the rest of the week.

What's even funnier is that Destiny's player numbers weren't just rivaling Marathon's, they surpassed them almost immediately after the announcement as people came out to show support. And then, even with a new update and making it free for the week, Marathon only pushed past it for a couple days before Destiny retook the lead, even before the final update came out.

And now...

You love to see it.

Ah, I just went to check popularity.report, and the owner added in another handy chart for us chartposters, a two-week graph showing the total concurrents across all platforms. 273,000 concurrent players across all platforms, meaning that on top of the 150k Steam players, over 120k console players are also joining in. That vertical line.

Time for me to do my part. I'll check back in later. See you starside.

To those still hoping (coping) that Destiny may be back, I'll just leave this here:

The Bungie we loved has been dead for years, you're just propping up a rotting corpse. You do not hate NuBungie and the fags/troons feasting upon the carcass enough.

I haven't played since Witch Queen, decided to come back for old times sake. I'd forgotten that this game could actually be fun. Despite how it all turned out I had some really good times with it over the years.

Various notes from my day playing:
  • Story bits basically amount to talking to various NPCs around the game world, addressing some of the existing threads while potentially setting up things for the future (let me inhale some copium please). From what I recall, the meetings are:
    • Ikora, Tower: Mentions the Traveler returned to hover above the Last City and the issues caused by III’s death have been stabilized for now, but other problems are still out there
    • Lodi, Tower: Talks about the Distortions being caused by the Nine and asks you to investigate (part of the intro questline explaining how they work)
    • Ikora, Nessus: Talks about how Maya’s Collective keeps slipping out of her grasp and her control over the Echo of Command seems to be wavering; while talking, she detects that Maya left the network for unknown reason
    • Eris, Moon: Discusses her role with the other Hive gods and how she is determined to see both Xivu Arath and Savathun finished off; Xivu has found her throne world but is not in control of it yet; Savathun has completely disappeared from her sight
    • Lodi, Europa: Communes with V to try and obtain information on the Distortions, doesn’t learn much other than V sees two paths forward, either to destroy sentient life or escape it (neither is good for us)
    • Lodi, EDZ: Just some musing over apocalyptic times, making a comparison to the scare of nuclear war from Lodi’s time, ending on an optimistic note that there’s still a day after
    • Mara Sov, Dreaming City: Talks about how she is convinced that Sjur Eido is still alive somewhere and that it was the Nine’s doing to make her believe otherwise, says that she could ask for your assistance but feels that’s too much to request, then that she is probably going to go and try to find her and doesn’t expect to successfully return
    • Lodi, Eternity: With Distortions appearing even here, remarks on the ill-fitting nature of the name, but also talks about how if the Nine were wrong about their realm being eternal, maybe there’s hope for their pawns to change fate
    • Luzaku, Throne World: Gives an update on the state of the Lucent Brood, with many of them taking an interest in Torobatl; Luzaku herself says that she will travel there to study war to obtain peace
    • Lodi, Tower (after finishing the above): Just a conclusion of the whole thing, implying that he thinks that he can make use of his powers as the Emissary to help avert the Nine’s plans
  • Distortions are pretty simple but the loop works well
    • Enemies are stronger but not ridiculously so; every enemy that dies will spawn a seeker with weak tracking that can damage you
    • Various small events scattered around with simple puzzles that reward loot chests, loot is a higher tier than normal
    • About a minute after a public event ends, a Distortion Breach begins
      • Large waves of enemies spawn in, tougher than usual
      • After a few, some corruption objects need to be destroyed to continue, each spawning a pool that restores grenade, melee, or Super energy
      • Process repeats, then after the second corruption objects and a couple more waves, a boss spawns
      • Defeat it to get T5 loot
      • You also get a Strange Multiplier buff for a duration dependent on how well you did
    • Can acquire Strange Matter from enemy kills, resource nodes, and chests
      • Strange Multiplier increases the amount of Strange Matter you acquire
      • Once you get 50, it automatically transforms into a beacon that points to a particular location
      • Head there, defeat some enemies and a boss, and you can open a loot chest with multiple T5 items
    • Distortion changes to a new destination out of seven total every hour
    • It’s pretty obvious that this was content that was originally going to be released with this update, so they put it out there anyway
  • Monument of Triumph, dear lord there’s a lot
    • A whole load of triumphs to chase, from simple to challenging, across every facet of the game
      • Some just require you to go to a spot with a scenic view, and I took the time to appreciate those visuals again
      • A bunch of references throughout, I’d be here all day if I wrote them all down
        • Yes Telesto has a couple triumphs associated with it
      • Each one gives Legendary Marks to be spent at the Monument
        • ETA: If you're wondering what happens if you somehow run out of marks before buying everything, you can get more from weekly challenges in the Seasonal Hub; I haven't done the math but I think you can get most of it from just triumphs, if not all the cosmetics
    • And speaking of, holy bajeezus are there a lot of rewards
      • Tenet of Bravery:
        • Honored Guard’s Visor helmet ornament, Immortal Legend armor ornament set, Fafnir exotic LFR, Heir Apparent exotic machine gun, Turncoat exotic ornament, Marathon armor ornament set, Hakke-themed armor ornament set, new skimmer, emblems, and four equipment sets
          • Immortal Legend requires you to unlock the Immortal title first
          • This is also where you can spend marks on weapon engrams, with a chance for any weapon in a set, including holofoils
      • Tenet of Devotion:
        • SRL helmet ornament; five SRL armor ornament sets; Gryphon sparrow (from Heavy Metal); All-Star Vector skimmer (from Guardian Games); SRL emblem, ship, Sparrow, and shader; another Sparrow; an assortment of emotes; and four more equipment sets
          • SRL items all require specific SRL triumphs to purchase
      • Tenet of Sacrifice:
        • Six armor ornament sets mostly themed around enemy races, Vex helmet ornament, Superblack shader, three finishers, a holochip, eight Ghosts (including one added back in Warmind that never dropped anywhere), four ships (including two added back in Shadowkeep that never dropped anywhere), and four more equipment sets
      • Tenet of Death:
        • Einherjar Coronet helmet ornament, two armor ornament sets, Chatterwhite shader, faction-themed exotic armor ornaments from Warmind, emblems, a finisher, an emote, shaders, transmat effects, and six more equipment sets
          • Helmet ornament, Chatterwhite, emblems, finisher, and emote all require various dungeon and raid triumphs to purchase
      • And that’s before getting into the season pass which has a bunch more stuff
    • Based on some of the patterns of loot, I’ve been trying to piece together what things would have shown up where if the normal release schedule had continued
      • One of the equipment sets was previously marked as a Call to Arms reward that would have been about this time
      • I believe SRL was in the works for a while considering the huge amount of assets built for it; maybe it would have dropped with Solstice originally?
      • The Vex-themed armor set with the extra separate helmet seems like it was planned for a future season pass in a Vex-oriented season, especially since there’s also a matching equipment set
      • The Hive-themed set in the season pass makes me think there was going to be more Hive stuff planned for this season originally
      • A few summer-themed items in the pass, probably originally for Solstice
  • Miscellaneous stuff:
    • Shiro-4 mentioned for the first time in years in the lore tab for one of the season pass items, crash-landing at the Tower and saying something attacked his Ghost and is waiting at the Shard (lore threads that will never be addressed, sad)
    • Efrideet also mentioned, she’s chilling in her pacifist commune still
    • Bael visited Savathun with an offer from VI to kill Maya for it; in exchange, Savathun gets the Echo of Command and a path to where Taox is hiding in the Vex Network
    • Looked through all the new and updated catalysts; most are just adding on applicable legendary perks, but some are brand new; favorite might be 1K which spawns Taken seekers from detonations that blight other enemies
      • Most come from completing strikes or Crucible or Gambit matches as usual, but dungeon and raid catalysts seem to come from completing their respective dungeons or raids
    • Black Armory weapons have all returned, including the weapons from Scourge, dropping exclusively from Arena Ops
    • They removed all the scaffolding from the old Tower and it finally looks repaired (more or less, there are some panels covering the damage because presumably that was easier than building a new model for it)
    • The wrecked HELM is gone from where it was perched above the hangar
    • God it feels nice to see the Traveler back over the city
    • The Monument has a bunch of assorted items from past seasons tucked around it, little nostalgia hits
    • The Monument in general just looks good
    • They removed the Guardian Games statue lol
      • Heir Apparent still has the correct insignia on the side, so Warlocks get to have their last win commemorated there permanently
        • Boo
Still have yet to play SRL or Pantheon, I’ve just been looking through everything and playing around. They really put their all into this update, and I’m sure they probably had even more stuff they wanted to put in.

ETA: There were some server hiccups when I first tried to get on, got weasel'd a couple times, but after that I haven't had any issues.

A couple more things of note: apparently there is indeed a secret exotic questline that starts from the Scarlet Keep strike. Also, Bungie dropped a bunch of codes for free cosmetics that you can see here.

Evening chartposting update, looks like we topped out at just under 400k concurrent across all platforms, with Steam making up 167k of that number (Marathon didn't crack 20k on Steam today):
1781067602183.png 1781067561636.png
I would've been happy to see even 100k, this was great.

And finally, I had a laugh when I saw this triumph name:

Did someone at Bungie decide to poke fun at the blast havers?

Looks like a 1970s vibrator, all that's missing is the 30-foot extension cord.
I never understood this mentality, when you buy a book do you think you're getting a raw deal because the book ends at the end of the book? I bought it because I had fun with what I tried before today and want to play it with my friends.
I broadly agree except in this case you've bought a book that Bungie could one day walk into your house and take off the shelf, with little or no warning.

Also, since you bought the book Bungie have ripped half the pages out so the story doesn't make sense any more.

there are tons of Tier 5 equips dropping lately, jesus.
the sniper i had before the update but i scrapped a lot of T5 stuff, the prebuilt anti champ trait is pretty gay too, both are overload while my current HC and sniper are barrier, IF ONLY THERE WAS A FUCKING WAY TO ADD ANTI CHAMP MODS TO GUNS LIKE BACK IN THE DAY...
but no, bungie has to be gay about this, fuck you too bungo.
